  1. From Liberation (1st mainstream media covering NTS): http://next.liberation.fr/musique/2018/05/28/autechre-l-infini-kiff_1654790 [French]
  2. I've been relistening the NTS and I got a massive jazzy vibe from e0. In general, the more I listen to NTS, the more impressed I am. The level of detail and granularily on these tracks is insane! Funny, as I had the same impression about Exai and I rememberd that to listen it in its entirety was a challenge. NTS seems much more easy and accessible.
  3. The fact that "NTS Sessions 1-4" is the duo's least edited album means that we listeners get closer to the process, closer to all ideas that slowly grow up and mutate. How did this internet person come across that "fact"? By counting the casuals in titles? Did i miss something? SAVAGE!!! I guess he must have combined 'casuals' with 'idles'. Must be true then.
  4. nice one... Let's give voice to Booth, except that "Lynch" is replaced by "Autechre", "film" for "music" and "watching" for "listening": "Lynch is a genius. (...) It is not that you understand what you are watching. (...) But even so, the feeling of watching his movies is damn good. You watch and think: "My God, it's fuckin 'genius!" You do not know what it is, you do not know why, you just think: "I'm fuckin '!" këk Yeah! The Polish one is quite decent. The Lynch quote comes from an interview they did in 2007: http://www.nowamuzyka.pl/2007/03/01/Autechre-nasza-rozmowa/ [in Polish only but worth translating as susanna &roberta are really talkative]

  6. I think that's a big part of the problem with media attention on Ae at this point in their career though, maybe purposefully coinciding with less 'big' promotion and officially Warp-machine-backed releases...it's all pretty useless. You've got a few young/new-to-the-scene kids I'm sure, but most people at this point know who they are, they are modern fixtures, really. Pillars of electronic music really, that's not fanboy-ism but just realistically looking at it. How do you review an 8 hour album of new music from them that's so varied and without narrative or obvious reference? It's literally just named after the outlet it was released via: NTS Sessions. That's it. Every session and every track is varied and only really worth talking about it reference to other of their own tracks...you can't compare pretty much any of it to anything else except a few slight nods/influences/whatever. It's just Autechre being Autechre and so how can you review it or media-blitz it? Would that help at all? Maybe help move some units once the extra copies of CDs and vinyls hit the shops in a couple months, but other than that are they going to gain any fans or sales or whatever by a bunch of reviews? I'm mostly just shitting in the dark and speculating but I really think the effort vs. return on promo/interviews/reviews/bullshit isn't worth it. Maybe? Who knows. If there is no promotion, because everyone knows who the bois are, then this would imply that they aren't expanding their fanbase and aren't appealing to younger listeners, innit? That would be a shame. It was somehow confirmed when I saw them during the AE_LIVE and One Six tour (Kraków, Katowice, London), where each time the average age of the audience was over 30s.... Is Autechre relevant to younger generations then?

Love it as well!!! Top Ae stuff right there. It became one of my favourite since the first listen. Full blast every time!!!
  8. #metoo Though, I'd prefer a review to go more into the tracks or even just the feel of each session, rather than just outlining who the boise are and what they do. Besides, the score is highest since Confield! NTS must be good then!

These are great! Would you mind sending/uploading a pdf with accurate size? I'd like to do a printout and have them as well!
  11. Right, not saying anyone should or shouldn't do whatever the hell they want. Autechre themselves are very pro-cut up/mod tunes/etc. I've done it before, sampled, made versions of tracks, playlists of favorites, all of that, I just give it some time before I start fucking with it. well one thing is certain: these sessions keep on giving and giving. i have quite literally listened to nothing else since they've been out (except own shit and some assorted other chre to mix it up a bit) and i discover shitloads of new details every. single. time. ... how they amassed this much quality material over the course of 2 years is just beyond me. (sure, some tunes might have been in the vault for longer and some stuff is derived from the live set, but still...) that being said: manipulating these tracks in certain ways might seem cheap and pointless but c'mon, it's just some harmless discovery fun, calling it downright stupid or lacking respect is a bit disproportionately disdainful imo. one could be similarly dismissive of listening to a record being scratched as "it's like reading a page then turning one back just to read the same page again, silly!"... dunno. I didn't call it stupid or say it lacked respect (can't speak for the other joking about it ITT by others), I was just stating my personal opinion, really more how I do things and find it odd how differently others approach it. Seems a bit weird to me for various reasons, but as I said, I was mostly just ranting. I agree with auxien. It just shows lack of respect. Are you doing the same thing with other kinds of music? How often do you say „oh a great rock song but shitty lyrics, I will write my own!’. Do you do the same stuff with paintings? ‚Great picture but lacks some green shades, will paint them over’. The music we have is a complete piece of art. I really doubt that Ae would put out a record with mastering they dont like. If you dont enjoy it, it’s ok, nothing’s wrong with it. Just stick to tracks you fancy and others may grow on you with time.
  12. 1h20 min discussion on NTS: Long release results in a long review:) Pretty decent effort!
  13. Today, I relistened tracks from NTS3 that I didn't enjoy at first. Being home alone and listening them loud on a quality soundsystem helped some of them to open up for me: Splesh made a splash and glos ceramic gonked me hard, Icari felt like subdued Oversteps - beautiful stuff! Some are still falling short though: shimripl air lacks depth and nineFLY is too long - would prefer threeFLY at most...
  14. Another one from Italia: https://noisey.vice.com/it/article/59j7pq/recensione-autechre-nts-sessions
  15. doodoo doodoo doodoo flol double lol. Thorough review... What dafuq is happening with the mankind?

  17. On my second listen to sesh 4. Sitting at the office, lazy Friday at work, just before a long weekend. People chat, type mails and my headphones are buzzing with NTS. I have to admit that I wasn't impressed yesterday when it was streaming. But hearing it again in good quality and on decent headphones makes all the difference. This is rich and deep as it can possibly get! I can't stop smiling how good this is! Mirrage reminds me of Soliloquy For Lilith by Nurse With Wound (btw it's 30 anniversary today!). It's last 5 seconds and transition to Column Thirteen is phenomenal. Column Thirteen is a revelation from the beginning - I love the fact the Oversteps' plinky-plonk sound got a serious elseq treatment. The bubbling pads at 8: 21 are worth all the money and demonstrate the boys genius. Such a small and brief moment, easy to overlook but these microevents are Autechre's trademark for me. Easily one of their best tracks ever. Shimripl casual is a monster. i can't get my head around it. It feels disjointed, there is no progression, the sounds are just sitting in this big cavernous room bouncing from wall to wall. Things speed up after 11 min mark when OneSix ninja swords slash the middle while the background is slowly filled with digital teardrops. Meditative. It all ends on a high note. All end is a perfect closure. They must have balls the size of central London to make a track like that. I wonder how Warp reacted when they heard they need to press it on vinyl... For me, 60 mins of deep&sweet swell is great. Very emotional track. Enough changes to keep it interesting for me. I wonder what will it do to me when played loud on speakers... On headphones it's a perfect pace out from the 8h marathon we've all experienced. What it would it say about our society if it was on top of the charts? :) Ae are still, by far, my favorite group. Still way ahead of the rest. Still innovative and restless. This is the next level shit. Thank you Rob&Sean, it's been a pleasure!
  18. AE - All End? End of NTS residency? Would be shame as they are in incredible creative stage, but on the other hand I can’t imagine a better end of thier journey!
  19. Autechre innovate?! They sound sooo 2016, bro! :)
  20. *bobs head in a cultish manner =D Listening to 2 right now... such a great collection of tracks. 9 chr0 is currently kicking my ass. And what's so special about it? The skipping malfunction it represents is cool, but extended to 15 mins tends to drag a bit... or maybe i'm not listening on 'subatomic level' and not hearing the quark of quarks?
  21. I still haven't managed to get my head around the NTS. In general, it's a mixed bag: some tracks are stellar and easily among the best the boiz have ever done (l3 ctrl, north spiral, xlood, violvoic, e0, tt1pd), some are dull and meander without a purpose (9 chrO) and some are just plain stupid (bqbqbq). What really bugs me though, is the apparent limited sound palette they use: we are able to hear bits from most of their recent releases: pads from Oversteps, beats & farts from: AE_LIVE or elsex etc. So I wonder, if Max/MSP offers unlimited possibilities, why are they using the same building blocks? Or is it due to their patches? No matter what is the input, the modifications (casuals, elycs, gonks) turn them into similar outcomes? Who knows?! Anyways, stoked for Thursday!
  22. Ready, steady, GONK! Less than 2h left!
  23. 'Violvoic - perhaps the most faithful purely synthesized sonic recreation of diarhhea ever made'. More here: https://www.dogsonacid.com/threads/autechre-nts-sessions-1-4.793378/
