  1. Yeah that's it. The visuals of foldfaced Irish public figures got big cheers.
  2. On a side note, I don't know if they get much attention here but Booka Shade played on Saturday and they were phenomenal. They were before Orbital and honestly they were much better. Orbital were good, but they just didn't bang.
  3. It truly was. Bringing Ryan out was just so sweet. The Analord track was Cilonen. It was so strange when it came on because the overall sound was incredibly loud and intense and then I could just hear bumbum bumbum bumbumbumbumbumbumbumbum sneaking in. The mix was great, especially for outdoor, loads of definition in the sound.
  4. It was absolutely stunning. I was right up the front so I can't comment on whether the whole crowd was into it but man... he killed it. I think he played a lot of unreleased stuff. Could have been others' but a lot of it had the Aphex feel. One track sounded really like Squarepusher (the big sine drop one for anyone who was there) but I didn't know it, could be unreleased! As for his own released stuff there was (floating in god mix), chink 101 and one of the Analords which came out of absolutely fucking nowhere! (I know the track but can't think of the name, maybe Reunion 2). Visuals were class, music was totally banging and he brought Ryan Wyer out after he finished! It was lovely, him and his family came out to applause. All in all it was spectacular. No vinyl onsale.
  5. I think if you think about what you want to be the track to be too soon you'll end up creating anxiety for yourself. Generally I just mess around with sounds until something strikes me and then just keep going with it. Normally this makes me end up with forty maybe-fitting-together parts to a song and then I just try to make something out of the randomness I've made up. I think as long as you don't go in with strict expectations it's easier to enjoy it.
  6. Frank Ocean - Blond. Really, really fucking good, totally lived up to my expectations. There are so many moments of pure emotion on it. Ween - 12 Golden Country Greats. Bit of a gimmick, and nowhere near as good as the Mollusk, but a good laugh nonetheless.
  7. Medieval Rave Mk2 is my absolute favourite. The way the drums thud and thump away is just lovely, and the melodies are gorgeous. It's everything I love about AFX in one track.
  8. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Old games had such rich atmospheres
  9. Nah I loved it. I give you full permission to turn any of my comments into artworks. And yes, I am Caribou. And if you haven't heard my other records, well, kindly go fuck yourself.
  10. Nah man it's not that at all. It's: Bowmmmmmmmmmm Bah nah nah now now now now Nowwwwww Bowm bowm Obviously.
  11. I can start to see where you're coming from when you put it like that, yeah. I've still only clicked with Syro with a fortnight so I still have miles to go with my listening. I might come to agree with you. I'd love to have MARCHROMT30A come after Aisatsana on my CD. Am I alone in thinking that the fast version shits all over the original?
  12. Poem and a half Mag! Man, I wouldn't say XMAS_EVE is that sad at all. The end gets pretty serious yeah but I always thought it generally sounded like pure joy. It sounds like he loved every second of making it to me. Saddest song I've ever heard is Nanou2. Crushes me to bits every time. I'm never fully ready for that ending.
  13. It took from release day until about two weeks ago for Syro to go from the most underwhelming album I ever heard to being among my top ten albums ever. I don't know what took me so long to come around to it, but jesus is this album a masterpiece. I know I'm two years late to the discussion here, but the SHEER AMOUNT of activity on it is astounding. It's not my favourite (though it may end up there) but I have to say that this is probably the best music he has ever released. In every single regard it's of the highest quality. I never thought he'd beat Drukqs and Rushup Edge, but he actually did. I think it might have been the emphasis on melody that made it so difficult to understand at first. I am just not used to Aphex Twin tracks having this much melody going on in them and the whole time it felt so very different to everything else he's ever done. It's a real outlier in his catalogue, I will say that. Even though he started to change his sound with the Analords, I feel like Syro still feels so detached from the Analord to Rushup Edge progression. Honestly, Syro came out of absolutely nowhere for me and confused the fuck out of me for two years. It's so far from what I expected and honestly I'm just floored by how after all this time Richard can still release things that make me laugh out loud in elation. Such a fucking legend. I'm going to be blasting the shit out of Syro for a looooooong time. I actually can't wait to listen to it again.
  14. I have not enjoyed porn in years. I watch porn every day. I am so empty that I end up watching that disgusting shit to keep me occupied for twenty minutes.
  15. This time I am going to finish The Lord of the Rings, I promise.
  16. The sooner he gets through releasing all of this older stuff the better. It's high time for another album.
  17. I'd like to find an MS800 in a Kinder egg.
  18. Ch-eetah. Ch-ill. I reckon that was intentional. Fucking love this EP.
  19. Syro>CCAI2>ODJS>Cheetah is as good a run as he's ever had. Thank the heavens he came back.
  20. Are they not arriving everywhere today? Mine came and it had to ship to Ireland.
  21. The sticker is so nice. Really worried that I'm going to waste it!
  22. Order's been dispatched. Booking Friday off as we speak.
