  1. Deadwood. I don't like to say too much about a show until I've finished but after watching season two I'm pretty sure it's genius. Line by line it's a marvel...I've never been so impressed by a show. The whole thing, every aspect, is just stunning. Swearengen's monologues hit hard.
  2. To Here Knows When - MBV. This two disc Loveless remaster is absolute bollocks.
  3. English and Philosophy. I have a heap of stuff to learn/understand/do over roughly a month. Basically some ongoing personal issues all exploded at the same time and severely affected my ability to control things. It fucking sucks, but the only option really is to work through it as best I can.
  4. Having to compress an entire semester's worth of work into three and a half weeks due to an inability to work. I'm well used to working under pressure but this time I am well and truly fucked.
  5. American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I want to like Gaiman but every book I've read by him has been a disappointment. His ideas are interesting; the problem is his prose. It's so dull. His main characters are usually shit too.
  6. Desire - Bob Dylan. One More Cup of Coffee was made for movies. 9/10
  7. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, on my sister's recommendation. I usually don't like YA and I'm not that into it so far.
  8. Anybody reading The Gentleman Bastard Sequence? I'm on book one at the moment, hopefully will be able to finish it before book four comes out next month.
  9. The Shining. I really don't like King's prose, it's very bland.
  10. Bite it back. Establish the hierarchy. But I'm scared.
  11. The Old Man and the Sea is such a beautiful story, I read it in one sitting today. Novellas are great. I'm reading A Clockwork Orange next, then a reread of The Slow Regard of Silent Things. Then probably Of Mice and Men. My bookshelf is full of unread novellas.
  12. New puppy's biting me relentlessly. I love him, but the fucking biting is non-stop.
  13. I'll give it a season, see what I think. As a wee laddie I watched The Mentalist and since then I've been afraid of making as bad a mistake again, so bullshit detectors will be active.
  14. I haven't read Sin City, but I enjoyed the film on the grounds that it's heavily stylized and I hear it's very faithful to the comics. But Frank Miller seems childish to me, like he's throwing drugs and pornstars into his stories just to appear dark and mature. They rarely add anything meaningful to the stories. I'm not well read in Miller but I've been turned off reading anything else by him. Maybe Daredevil though because of reputation, not personal interest.
  15. Superhero comics just fall flat to me, usually. There's either too much cheesiness or too much darkness, it's hard to just enjoy them.
  16. What's the story with Supernatural? There's ten fucking seasons, is it consistent? The only person I know who's watched it all has shit taste is everything.
  17. Like nearly everyone else I've started Sons of Anarchy. It seems fairly shallow so far but I'm enjoying the second half of season one a lot. Jax is a good character hindered by an average actor.
  18. I'm fairly sure I'll get it, it's just a matter of when. I'll get the collected edition too or it'll cost me a fortune. By the way, I read The Dark Knight Returns recently and hated it. Am I alone on that, seeing as everyone else seems to love it? I liked Batman: Year One, but Frank Miller just seems fairly tasteless to me.
  19. FACT are covering this really closely aren't they? All their pictures of Richard are from years ago too, reclusiveness keeps him young in the public eye.
  20. I've been thinking about buying the complete Sandman, but the artwork wasn't my thing. I do like Neil Gaiman though, American Gods is beautifully twisted.
  21. Guys I'm only starting to get into comics recently, so what are some good series to read? Preferably ones that are complete or have a good amount of issues already published. I'm generally not into superhero comics. I'd rather more dark fantasy style stories, if that helps.
  22. Starting A Song of Ice and Fire for the third time. I've never gotten past book two but these days there's spoilers everywhere so this is my only chance to enjoy it before it's ruined on me.
