  1. MGS V: Phantom Pain

Been so long since I played any MGS, can't remember any stories or anything really, but pretty impressed with it so far. Haven't quite got the stealth part of it yet, even from far away they seem to know where I am even using a silenced sniper.

the game gets more fun as you unlock more gadgets/weapons. you aren't given much at the beginning.
  2. yeah i'm finding a lot of the game frustrating. the menu system is trash, it's way more confusing than it should be. the loading times are the worst i've seen in a game (and there are SO MANY. the game loads initially... press A to continue... another loading screen... once you select a game mode you're treated to TWO different loading screens before you get in a game. there's even a loading screen when QUITTING?? wtf)

the grind for weapons etc is obviously to get people to pay for the items instead

i don't understand why there isn't an option to adjust or at least look at your load outs whilst on the loading screen

that said the game itself is (mostly) pretty good once you get in a match

  3. Battlefield is doing a great job at not explaining anything. i spent yesterday playing online and hardly gained any XP or money, so i googled to see what was up and apparently it's because i hadn't downloaded the expansion packs. i was playing the maps but not gaining anything for it. downloaded em today (i brought the premium version or whatever) and i'm now actually leveling up. annoying.

is there any way to try out/preview weapons before purchasing them? i have no idea what anything is but don't want to spend my hard earned shekels on something i don't want.

  4.

funny you say that because i think Murakami is the most inconsistent writer i've read.

What of his have you read? This is my 3rd after Wind-Up Bird Chronicles and Kafka on the Shore, so you probably have a broader perspective than me on this.
Wind-Up Bird Chronicles is definitely the best i've read so far. i haven't read Kafka so i might pick that one up next.

    i've read:

    1Q84 (up to book 3)

    Wind-Up Bird

    Sputnik Sweetheart

    Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki

South of the Border, West of the Sun

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running (non fiction)

oh and I've seen the film Tony Takitani. i don't think it's that well known but i really liked it

i've just finished All The Pretty Horses (Cormac McCarthy). it was pretty slow going in parts, though others were great. it took me a while to get through. i've picked up the 2nd in the trilogy (The Crossing) but i think i'll leave that for another time. decided on something short (Animal Farm) to go next.

  6. is anyone getting Rocket League for Switch? Cross platform play will be cool, just wondering if there will be a sustained player base for an older game, warranting the purchase.

the devs pump out updates very regularly and it has a competitive "esports" scene so i don't see the game falling out of popularity any time soon, if ever.
  7. yeah, that's the band. they have a big 90s alt rock/grunge inspired sound but also have some sabbathy riffs and occasionally pull out something thrashier. the vocalist sounds like Billy Corgan despite being from London.

on another note Converge's new album released today and it is fucking KILLER

  8. i'm so happy Krallice are releasing 2 records. the Bandcamp player works like shit on my phone so i'll have to wait til it's released on Spotify to hear this one though

@jader - yellow eyes are great dude i highly rec you give em a chance

also Kvelertak were INSANE last night. honestly one of the best bands i've seen. they played for an hour and a half and the set they curated was perfect

i'm suffering a serious bangover today and lost my earplugs in the pit but it was worth it
