  1. Yeah, I recall SAW 1.5 being mentioned at one point too. And I agree the Bleep store associations don't always feel that accurate. Any links to the old YouTube or SC playlists would be welcome. I quite enjoy that side of it, the detective work. I spend a lot of time going through tapes and sessions in my day job, it's by far the most fun part. Putting the finished release together always feels a bit flat by comparison ?
  2. Thanks Key - that'd be great! I found a few things where people had tried, but head scratching seems to be order of the day. Cheers, Richard
  3. That's such a clever response. The use of the term "IDM" tells me all I need to know. Can any grown ups give me a proper answer please? It'd be nice to be able to place them into some kind of chronology and dive in properly.
  4. Thanks, but I don't see anything there that catergorises the tracks, or am I missing something? Richard
  5. Sorry, I'm sure the information is buried here among these 700+ pages, but is there any easily accessible catalogue of rough chronology for the SC dump stuff? I thought I'd make up a bunch of CDs to play in the car, which is where most of my AFX happens (wife = not so keen), and ideally I'd like to do it in some kind of order. SAW, SAWII, RDJ related etc.... Ta, Richard
  6. Just playing my vinyl for the first time (having been hammering the WAVs). So far so good, just the odd bit of surface noise. FWIW, I think this is his best shit in years. This and CCAI really stand out for me from the new releases since the 'revival'. New directions! Go easy on Warp guys*. I work for a label, and this won't be their doing. From the sounds of it the pressing plant and the distributor will be getting it in the neck. *Although I agree the extra tracks would've been nice on wax too.
  7. I'd really like to hear the album of field recordings he mentioned way back when.
  8. I know I bought it, but it's not there anymore.... Where'd it go? Spooky. Or not. Anybody up for a 24 hour Sun Ra session?
  9. Aw, I was looking forward to that.
  10. Yeah, I ignored both Ventolin EPs for the longest time, not particularly liking the title track. But the others are much better! And now I'm at the point where I like even the Ventolin track too. I'm in too deep... Same here , I was thinking about Ventolin/ICBYD yesterday - at the time I was all over SAW, SOSW, the AB and XT EPs and maybe On was out by then too, but Ventolin just turned me off for some reason, and I didn't really care for ICBYD either. Then RDJ and CTD came along and were great. Definitely a little blip at the time. Enjoyed getting back into them a few years ago.
  11. Does anyone remember the old days when the first thing you'd do is get up in the morning and check your faxes? Would love an AFX fax release next.
  12. I have one - pretty good but the original is obviously another level.
  13. I thought the same, I was nonplussed with the 12" at the time, but this new extended version felt great.
  14. So you're saying he got the running order wrong on his own album? It seems a bit old hat to me, worrying about what track goes where. Hasn't he just thrown all of that out the window this past few years? I love the randomness and unpredictability of it. Much more interesting to me than twelve songs on a disc every couple of years.
  15. I'm really loving the Korg/Tunings album. For me, that's the real treat here. As much as it's nice to have the new 'bonus' tracks for the albums, this a whole new side of AFX, one of many he promised over the last couple of years. Really hoping we get the field recording stuff too, and more Computer Controlled would be sweet. One release I just can't get into though is the Cheetah stuff. Kinda passed me by at the time and left me cold again over the weekend. But it's also been really nice to rediscover GAK. All told, the guys OK by me.
  16. Total must-hear immersion buying tactics uncertainty carefree format abandon. Is there to just download all the new shit in one hit and never have my wife know how much it cost? Willing to pay extra to have it delivered on an old Verbatim CD-R.
  17. The Korg/Tunings thing is lovely. What a time to be alive.
  18. "If we can swear then I must fucking have this"
  19. Really full of admiration for folk making all this effort for a record. Enjoy!
  20. This is great. What a treat on a wet Sunday afternoon. For some reason, I didn't take up the offer of a guest list to FD yesterday, I just didn't get around to confirming with my friend who played, and I begun to seriously regret it on the day, so this has countered that downer nicely. I personally hope it never comes out any other way and we never get titles etc. And definitely not the WIP for a new album. I like this haphazard, carefree approach to releasing stuff he's established. Ditto the Soundcloud stuff. Chronology and any sense of 'narrative' shot to fuck, titles irrelevant...... Only the music counts. If that's how he wants to do it then that's how I want to hear it. The days of knocking out a disc with twelve tracks on it every X months/years are long gone, and RDJ seems to be bang on that now after getting a bit left behind (I thought) in terms of delivery during the so-called 'internet age'.
  21. Thanks so much - this is all excellent to have!
