The Future Sound of London - Environment 7.003
mcbpete replied to Rubin Farr's topic in New & Upcoming Releases
Over on 'my' place - http://fsolboard.co.uk/ When it comes to track naming/conventions over the years FSOL's style is amorphous (andogynous) I *think* if you re-download it from bandcamp now the whole track naming should be sorted, it looks like everything was off by 1 when it was first uploaded that was then fixed with the new name for track 6 (on the original 7.001 track 6 was just an end ambient-y bit of track 5) -

@purlieu to the rescue: -
Just seen this video, it uses the 'mulchy ai morphing' technique subtly and really adds to rest of the video techniques (first minute is a little twee but stick with it !)

The man is as pissy about digital downloads as he is about .... everything else

Looks like the threads have been merged from the previous remaster and this 'less amount of packaging stuff' release but all the comments in the one yesterday have gone ....

One thing I'm glad they lost when they moved from 2d to 3d (and why I've not revisited them): Lives (and quite limited amount if I remember correctly I could be wrong but I remember the PC demo was timer-based rather than lives-based and that definitely encouraged more freedom for exploration and mayhem than the retail version (by the time I was on the final mission of each island I was driving so carefully so I didn't have to replay everything again!)

Not yet. I keep meaning to and unfortunately I've spoiled a big chunk of it by watching someone's blind play-through - everything until the 'friendly dog, big dog & block of flats' section (description left deliberately vague to not spoil for anyone else but those that have played it will know what I mean !). Might download & save it for my visit back to family over Christmas as I'lll be without the internet for about a week or so.

Worked through Sunlust with Brutal Doom and I nearly gave up many many times (especially the last level) - Think this would kill me

The Future Sound Of London Presents Pulse Five [ De:tuned ]
mcbpete replied to Detuned's topic in New & Upcoming Releases
The opener definitely sounds like it could've been a proto-Lifeforms track -
Ditto ! I've also got LameVST ( https://www.kvraudio.com/product/lamevst-by-r-tur ) but I think this will now replace that
-
Sounds like the B side to this (But played at 45 rather than 33) - https://www.discogs.com/release/25095-Tortoise-The-Taut-And-Tame i.e.

Best and easiest would be Isotope RX 10: Simply load the track, click 'music rebalance', set Vocal volume to -infinity, set quality to Best and hit Render. Done ! Best and easiest, but also possibly most expensive of all the options! (though currently half price at most places)

The Orb & David Gilmour - Metallic Spheres In Colour
mcbpete replied to LooseLink's topic in New & Upcoming Releases
Nice - discogs mentions Andy was '91-'94 era Orb so definitely covers a good Orb period -
I really miss it, can't remember the last time I heard a new track and thought 'oh my gosh that's from [insert TV or film or classic track]'
-
Definitely intrigued to know who could get away with wearing that without looking like a complete penis ...

Was he maybe referring to this collection (though this was back in 2018):
-
Conversely I thought the piano absolutely enriched the ambient drones. Reminded me of the Fennesz/Sakamoto collabs
-
Absolutely on the same page - Like a track AI would create if fed with previous Clark tracks. Fine enough track but even though it was the first time I'd heard it, it felt like I had already listened to that track dozens of times before !
