these exchanges brought me back to listening to the entire bergen. I was probably in a particularly receptive moment.. what an immense journey. It's like getting on the Galaxy Express 999 and watching volumes and dimensions amalgamate and transform perpetually through the window. At 10.43 there is a moment of haughty peace, surrounded by slightly jazzy phrasing that is gold, and that moment of uncertain quiet at 16.52, which slowly loses balance and falls at 18.07 on harmonies that proceed and create reverse becoming alien breaths... and then the crazy (gamelanesque) accents at 22:40 while infinite tonalities and martian toads are added to the delirious march (the 4 front notes, obsessively repeated, distract a lot from the battle raging below... it took some time to ignore them). 25:35 .. At 29:57 the route turns towards darker scenarios, with that epic peak at 33:17, and then descends into that succession of nostalgia and echoes of childhood (yep, it has this effect on me) until the end. honestly - for now - these sets put me on a much more sexy journey than london b, and I definitely prefer them to onesix

the first half is more hostile, but I don't find it stochastic. Once I get the hang of it, it works

Yes, in part there is the awareness that by insisting, even things that do not initially strike me can hide the "secret", but there is also another fact: together with the initial rejection, even in those cases, there is something that piques my curiosity, that makes me think about it, regardless of the fact that it is Ae. This is in fact the reason that lead me to return to them often, the first times, when for me they were still one name among many to explore in the then new -at last to me - panorama of electronics. The other things then faded away, but autechre became a cornerstone. It must mean something I guess

...not having the file at hand to make the comparison, I wonder if the first Bergen (the one put online to repair technical problems during the show) is identical to the one put up for sale, or if it has some differences (... the mastering?)

I am trapped in the immediately previous section, from 33:48 to 38:40, when that melody begins to emerge, divided between two if not 3 lines, on the same notes but in different keys, which follow each other without ever revealing themselves completely, and the kick becomes regular, but broken by progressive upbeat hiccups. There is a sense of levity that I could say touching, but overshadowed by something looming and "tragic"
  6. personally it didn't involve me too much, perhaps because I had different expectations or perhaps because I had just seen the other one and it deserted me. However, I found The Lighthouse, also by Robert Eggers, very beautiful
  7. this guy grabbed many elements, but didnt really get it, especially in the original version, where the melodies are less exposed, even if present exactly as in the AWS version. He has to be careful: if he gives himself a couple more listens, he risks catching it: at that point he wouldn't talk about the fucking "academic approach" anymore, and he would find himself in the rabbit hole, trapped forever, as happened to us
  8. Hagazussa is a dry film, ruthless yet imbued with its own glacial poetics. It is only apparently a film about witchcraft, but it reveals itself as a declaration of the disaster that Christianity has brought, introducing the concept of "sin", and it's a surreal journey into extreme solitude. If you're going to watch it, I suggest to do it with headphones : the sound plays a leading role, especially in the second half, when the story veers towards the hallucinatory. The dubbed versions are bad: there are few words, to be received in their own language.
  9. if witchcraft in the forest it is, I suppose and hope it is of this kind and not of this ...but I refrain from verifying, at least until after the Venice date, that it's like, as a child, knowing where a christmas present is hidden and not unwrapping it
  10. ha! true, I got to know this album thanks to this thread these lives are the hiccup in state of the art:
  11. Steve Lyman ...then we find some Ae covers: and, for the most demanding, an autechre mini lesson

also in my case the download does not start, I hope to find another source. Onesix and ae_live were excellent, I guess the same goes for this one; just wondering how a human being can sift through and intercept all the best details in a 6+ hour sonic odyssey in such a short amount of time. I'm still gasping for some orientation
  14. for once i could have opened this thread and jumped for joy instead of cursing at the prank of the day, i was preceded by the other thread lol btw... WTF!!!!!!!!!!
  15. here Mr Bungle's attempt to appropriate kecak
  16. it must also be said that the two outputs would be so similar that I, as I imagine many of you, would risk confusing them, and would no longer know who I am actually listening to
  17. what I understand is that in the Montreal area there is a hero with a pair of DPA 4060's who records ae live as f they are soundboards. What I still don't understand is how the 2008 one remained invisible (for me and for others here) until 2023. But it doesn't matter: now it's inside my ears and I'm a better person
  18. ...people, how to say... check carefully your HD pls, at this point I can expect anything
  19. This, exactly... Am I the one who missed a step, or is there something that escapes the philological order of things?
  20. the details are so defined that it's hard to believe it's a bootleg... could it be a soundboard with a mic line open to the audience? btw: devastating
