  1. Not bad, I'm trying smartphone stuff right now, sunvox can export midi files. That should work. I might look for a dirtywave m8 or polyend mini.
  2. Interesting approach: going on the road, using Renoise to write down ideas just as simple notes. Later feed them in via Midi synced realtime recording back into the 909. Editing is also super super easy that way. The onboard stuff is okay to use, but renoise is just faster. Would be super cool to have a very small stand alone hardware based tracker, to take on the road, just as an easy to use midi programmer.
  3. MC 909, thought you were shitting, kept it in a box, repaired the pads some weeks ago. Starting to dig it. I can see how you used Arp and Rps, lot's of fucked up possibilities combined with Fx and the DJ section, especially with delays on master, cool, but needs time. Just wanna say thx.
  4. Old BASF 8100 Hifi Tape Deck. Picked it up at a house clearance. Literally had to wipe the old rubber bands out of the electronics with rubbing alcohol, very messy. Cleaned everything, fixed some weird looking soldering points and plastic damage. Now everything work fine again. Tested it with some afx. I like what I'm hearing. Potentially the best vintage tape deck i own. There's something to the sound it has, nice low end, but also very transparent. Even just routing audio through it without recording does something to the sound. Very inspiring.

  6. Fuck streaming, i started listening to tapes again, bought several decks and reel to reels. Handling music on tape takes effort, the effort assigns worth to the music in your brain. Streams are effortless, the music feels compared to pre stream, worthless. The human brain is a weird device.

  8. Yep, as i said, that's why i have a timer between outlet and machine, normally set to 15min. I do my cup with milk and everything in 5-10min, so if i forget, it just turns off. The thing is, to control the temperature of the brewer for the shots, you gonna let water through once or twice in the beginning and want to let it cool for a minute before the next shot anyways. So it's not getting too hot, but also not being to cold. You are basically controlling the temperature of your brew with the on / off button. That machine is literally a full hands on device to make espresso, it has no automatic function build it whatsoever. That auto on / off thing is just a over pressuring protection, done the simplest way possible. The other thing is, if you don't wait long enough after a shot (around 20-30sec is my current impression), it can be that the brewer still has too much pressure, also depending on how much coffee and how finely ground it is, you put in there. So if you open it too early, it can explode the coffee remains onto you and the surrounding walls. Very nice feature if you're trying to make coffee for a few guests. Fun fact, my GF loves the coffee i make with it, but is absolutely terrified to use it, she has her own, "click button to coffee" - full automatic machine.
  9. I just found this: https://www.home-barista.com/levers/how-long-can-i-leave-la-pavoni-lever-on-t57514.html#p642545 So it's actually not a fire hazard but the thermal fuse will break and needs to be replaced then, i didn't know it had one. I only have an Italian manual.
  10. Looks like a nightmare to clean. I already love it.
  11. You only touch it in wrong places once or twice, the pain makes you learn. A machine like that makes you develop your own technique on how to use it, makes you think and fiddle. It brings character to your rituals and you can taste it, even the first noob taste, after i got it from ebay, was drastically different from what i got out of a 100€ cheapo 20bar machine with the same beans and grinder. Right now i'm working on a combination of timing on when to put the sieve in, how long to let the espresso soak and drip in the sieve and the usage of a frozen metal ball, it changes the taste of the espresso i'm using to a much stronger chocolaty taste for whatever reason. I'm also trying different beans with different results, feels more like i'm designing a taste, then just quickly brewing my morning cup. But there is one real problem, that i need to fix with additional tech. It does not have a automatic timed turn off, which can lead to me walking off, forgetting that the machine is turned on. It will turn the water to vape in the matter of a few hours, after that, i guess it's a potential fire hazard because it does not build enough pressure to turn itself off here and there (it's pressure regulated to keep itself on 0.5-0.6 bar... no water -> no steam -> no pressure). So at that point it will be constantly turned on and get hot. Last time i failed to turn it off, got me scared and made me order a outlet adapter with timer function.
  12. So far so good, now prepare yourself. I was 4 and i had no control over the radio and TV in my parents household yet. So here ya go:
