  1. I hope your mid-portion parts are correct. Midlake - The Courage of Others: It was pretty average alternative rock with more of a nature theme I suppose. Some of the tracks were pretty alright, but others were just boring. I might give it another chance still. 5/10 Universal Indicator - Red: I personally think this is Richard's worst album. So boring and repetitive. It was early in his career though, so whatever. 4/10 The Killers - Battle Born (I think that's what it was): Holy shit was this the worst Killers album I've ever heard. In some of the tracks I half expected Chris DeBurgh to come in with "Lady in Red" to top off all of the 80's cheese revival. I can't remember what other 80's songs it was reminding me of, but they weren't good ones. 2/10 Black Moth Super Rainbow - Cobra Juicy: I was stoned when I listened to this, so maybe you should just disregard my opinion, but I felt that Mr. Moth was sounding really sure of himself on this album. The lyrics were kinda repetitive and poppy. I felt like he was some sort of cool DJ that would appear in a universe not unlike the one in Regular Show, where everything and everybody is cool. In short, I don't know what to think of it yet in comparison to past albums. I don't think it's going to beat Eating Us though. ?/10 Merzbow - 24 Hours - A Day of Seals: Nice solid 3 hour album, I listened to it while reading Peanuts comics. There were no horribly grating piercing moments where I was like, "God dammit Merzbow, you had such a nice drone going and then you had to go a break my ear drums". I recommend it if you are a casual Merzbow listener, like myself. It'll be getting more listens from me. Fleetwood Mac - Mr. Wonderful: This is 60's era Fleetwood Mac, fronted by Peter Green, when they were doing the Blues Revival (aka, nothing like Go Your Own Way). I enjoyed the album, though 4 of the songs are EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME. Same rhythm, tempo, tune; only difference is lyrics. It honestly doesn't take away from the album though.
  2. Thanks, Joyrex. Any idea how the tracks are divvied up on Innovation in the Dynamics of Acid? I've never understood that release, is it just a big mix of the other four discs? If there are no new tracks on that I might as well delete that off of my harddrive.
  3. Those two bits were as much as I knew. I believe Joyrex said in an earlier thread (from this year I think) that Grant was responsible for a couple of tracks, but I can't find the thread anymore.
  4. Over the years people have stated several tracks in the Universal Indicator series were done by specific people. Of course, I never jotted any of it down. I know some are Aphex Twin, some are Mike Dredd, and some (like two or something) are Grant Wilson-Claridge. For all I know others were involved too. So, which tracks belong to who? This isn't Jazz, is it?
  5. I'm also now getting into Casino vs Japan. casino versus japan & freescha split 12" if you've not discovered it yet http://www.discogs.com/Casino-Versus-Japan-Freescha-Split-EP/master/91394 WOAH! I hadn't known about that. Thanks, troon.
  6. Oh yea, dunno why I thought it was self-titled. I really like Mesxico and This is Why. I had a feeling a lot of it was his voice, and it's awesome he used something as simple as a Rock Band mic. Death From Above 1979 - Heads Up: Was great. Driving Hard rock with occasional synths. Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle: I liked the song Fly Like an Eagle when I was a kid, but their lyrics are pretty cheesy as hell. Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers: Jack White is in the band, but I was pretty bored throughout. I'll stick with White Stripes. Edit: Josephine Foster - Blood Rushing Lucy Faringold nominated this in the Top 2012 Albums thread. When I looked her up I thought, "Oh shit, it's some indy chick playing some acoustic instrument". But her voice is very unique, powerful, and tuneful; and all of the music is pretty awesome and fitting as well. A lot of the album didn't tickle my fancy, but I really love this song in particular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH3V6EM_SO8
  7. Agreed. Venus No. 17 was the only Squarepusher I listened to for a very long time. Been trying to burn through my unheard albums folder (3 days worth of music remaining; I blame the Merzbow). RMHN - Infected Invaders Single South Korean Hardcore. I had low expectations, but I was surprised. The B-Side had fantastic sound. Was listening to it on shitty earbuds, and I still felt like I was in a huge auditorium. Cool stuff. Blaise B. - The Beat Bastard Found him through Tairy Hesticle's youtube channel. I've loved Dreamworld for a long time and finally got the album. Good hip-hop, and a lot of good production. Oh No - Ohnomite Some of the most Intense and overwhelming Hip-Hop beats I've ever heard. Sweet use of clash notes blah blah. Sadly the lyrics are all bitches, hoes, and shooting niggers. Though I did like the lyric "My gun is so big I use my car as a holster". I'll have to find myself an instrumental. Picky Picnic - Lovely Water Peaceful Single Fuck this single. It's garbage. The Sight Below - Glider Ambient tunes generally accompanied by a kick. Reminiscent of Hexagon by Aphex Twin, but better and deeper. It really complimented my foggy walk to the bus stop. I'll be listening to this a lot. BMSR - Cobra Juicy & Tobacco - Mystic Thickness Fuck yea. Vaervaf - Vaervaf Ganus mentioned this in the Top 2012 albums thread (Been listening to nominations that were batched with those for Patience (After Sebald)). I'm not sure how to describe this album. It's very unique, and reminds me of Odd Nosdam, but it's nothing like Odd Nosdam really. Give it a listen and a nomination.
  8. Freescha - Lift E.P. - It's perfect for the winter months (though we don't have any snow here yet). I've listened to this album so much this year. 10/10 The Caretaker - Extra Patience (After Sebald) = Really good Caretaker. All of his recent albums under the name have been wonderful. 8.5/10 Vince Guaraldi Trio - Charlie Brown Christmas = I have no idea why I didn't download years ago. 10/10 A Bunch of Boards of Canada Live Shows = Cool. That Disengage Radio Show has p. cool quality. And I like how the intro of Red Moss plays again at the end of the track. I wish they'd release that album proper. I want a nice recording of Rodox Video.
  9. That's funny, I just found out yesterday that the two collaborated as Reaching Quiet. I haven't heard of Miss Ohio's Nameless. Ha, those Anticon boys collaborate so much. I'm always finding new stuff I never knew existed by them. Reaching Quiet is fantastic. It's Nosdam's old style of beatmaking and Yoni rapping. A lot of gems in the one album. Miss Ohio's Nameless - Miss Ohio's Nameless: I didn't realize that this was from 2001, I assumed it would be from the mid-2000's since that's when Why? released the song Miss Ohio's Nameless. It sounds more like they're goofing off vs. making anything serious (if you've heard Greenthink, think that). There are a couple of goodies though. It's worth a listen if you're a fanboy. Rarney Bubble - Gluestick EP: A great NDC album off of Sup's label. Like everything New Digital Cool, it's free, so you might as well download it. First three tracks are super chill, and then Double Zipper is funky as hell. http://www.arribamusica.com/ Radiohead - Hail to the Thief: Listened to this for the first time, and then again, this week. I never have really cared for much Radiohead other then In Rainbows and Thom Yorke's solo stuff (Creep and similar tracks have always bored me), but this album was great. Guess I need to sift through their discog. Neil Young - Trans: About every 4 years I get obsessed with this album for a while. This was Neil's New Wave album, and it is the cream of the crop. The vocodor and its harmonies are ridiculously beautiful (Sennheiser of some sort). 10/10 The chorus of this song makes me swoon. It's a pretty eerie concept, and I suppose we're halfway there with the invention of custom real dolls I'd listen from the beginning, but the chorus starts at 1:35. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8ho8n4LCFs
  10. I just ate an entire Large Little Casear's Pizza and consumed.half a bottle of Black Velvet Whiskey.
  11. Binärpilot - Songs for Alan Turing: I was disappointed in his last album, but these 3 tracks are fantastic. The first one is reminiscent of Kavinki's Nightcall (mostly because of the minor key and gruff vocoder) and the other two are fantastic. The EP (and all of his music) is free, go get it. Alexander Tucker - Third Mouth: Some pretty dramatic music from Thrill Jockey I believe (so it's experimental indie stuff). I can't remember what it reminded me of, but it reminded me of something good. Object Beings - Object Beings: More anticon, this time Doseone, The Pedestrian, and Yoni (why?). The actual musical tracks are nice, but I'm not too crazy about the spoken word/random noise tracks. Just found out the band Why? and Odd Nosdam collaborated under the name Miss Ohio's Nameless (which is one of Why?'s greatest songs in my opinion) in 2001. Can't wait to give it a listen.
  12. Same, so many memories associated with that song. Man, multiplayer minecraft is weird. I don't think I had ever lost myself so much in a game before than when I was playing in that first watmm server.
  13. Medeski Martin and Wood - End of the World Party (Just In Case) The first album I bought (though my Mom and I split the difference). It's a fantastic lively fusion of future jazz-inspired brilliance one moment, and then haunting Hammond organ and bass the next. I always skipped a track on the album, but this time I decided not to, and I loved it. I love when that happens. Aphex Twin - Melodies From Mars My brother recently arranged Track 10 for his highschool band, and I saw them perform it. My girlfriend taped it, and I deleted it by accident. In regards to the album, still good, as everyone already knows. mum - Finally We Are No One I got this album because I liked track 3 (we have a map of the piano) on that fake Hooper Bay album that was floating around. The whole album is good. C418 - The Minecraft Records All good. Someone has it up for free on youtube. You don't have to be a minecraft fan to appreciate his music. Cream - Disraeli Gears Them Crooked Vultures reminds me of this album so much. Especially Scumbag Blues vs. Strange Brew. Gang of Four - Entertainment! kaini got me into this album, and I'm grateful. Good stuff. All of these albums are 8,9, or 10/10
  14. Piano Chopin - The 14 Waltzes Antonin Dvorjak - Mazurka Op. 56 Both are able to put forth a lot of emotion, but not get too serious. They make for good casual listens. Try to get ahold of the the album Czech Piano Music. It features music from several Czech composers. Smetana is another good Czech. If you want to hear something ridiculously technical find some Alkan. While it's extremely impressive, there's not as much emotion as I'd desire. Philip Glass's Etudes For Piano is nice. So is Leyland Kirby's Sadly the Future is no Longer What it Was (In particular "When We Parted, My Heart Wanted to Die (Friedrichshain Memories)" and "Not as She Is Now but as She Appears in My Dreams"). And, my all-time favorite, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Morceaux (18) for piano, Op. 72. My recordings are by Michael Ponti, though I dislike the tempo he plays a couple of songs (but I have no complaints with his interpretation of the Morceaux 18. Not Piano Of course, Beethoven's 7th and 9th Symphonies (Movement 2 on both of them are my favorites. Especially 7's movement 2). Antonio Vivaldi's -Concerto No 8 in A Minor (L'estro Armonico) -Concerto in B Minor, Op. 3/10 (L'estro Armonico) -The Four Seasons The best Baroque pieces in my opinion. Especially Concerto No 8. Both of Clara Rockmore's albums are fantastic.
  15. There's nothing left to harvest in nature. I ate a lot of blackberries and apples this summer though. Even found some morels. If you've never had one you're missing out. Just slice them thin and fry them up in butter. I couldn't believe how good it tasted. In regards to bread pudding. All of the bread I buy gets moldy before it gets stale. One of these days though.
  16. Yes, it's gotten very bad. Some great suggestions in here. I hadn't even thought of rice pudding, and according to yahoo answers, a gallon of wal-mart icecream is 3ish bucks. Dunno what Panna Cotta is kaini, but it looks pretty cheap as free, so I'll get around to making it one of these days. I'd forgotten about cinnamon toast. I used to eat that all of the time.
  17. I huge majority of my food budget goes towards sweets (which is a problem in itself). While my girlfriend is away I generally live on celery and peanut butter (healthier than ramen), but I keep spending ass-loads of cash on candy bars and other pre-made desserts. So, do you know of anything extremely cheap I can make? I remember reading in Little House on the Prairie that they'd drizzle maple syrup on ice and freeze it. I think that's worth a shot.
  18. Mathew Friedberger - Goodbye Forever: 8/10: The first half is great piano music and some synth work. The second half's synthwork is probably my least favorite thing he's done though. Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma: 8/10: It's good. Roots Manuva - Run Come Save Me: Listened to it again, it's good. African Brothers Dance Band - International: Listened to it again, it's nice. Odd Nosdam - Volume 9: 9/10: Fantastic. It's like a mix of his old multitrack hip-hop style and his newer downtempo/droney style. Odd Nosdam - Pretty Swell Explode: 8/10: Good album. A lot of remixes including one for Black Moth Super Rainbow, and two for BOC's Dayvan Cowboy (one of which is on Trans Canada Highway). Some nice drones too. Matthew Friedberger - Winter Women : 9.5/10: My most played album on last.fm. There are a couple of dull songs, but the majority is perfect. Great guitar solos and fantastic everything else. Binärpilot - Defrag: 10/10: He's some sort of chip-tune/electro blend. His synths are so expressive that there is no need for lyrics, though I appreciate his robot voices. Best of all, he releases all of his music for free. Go get it all. Especially Defrag. http://binaerpilot.no/music.html Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2: 7/10: So many great tracks, so many tracks that I can't stand (e.g. both White Blurs). Some album by Kiln: It was alright. Edit: Oh yea, I forgot... Antonín Dvořák - Mazurka, Op. 56 (From the album Czech Piano Music): I went through my Dad's CDs and snagged 15 hours of piano music. I've heard of Dvorak my whole life, but hadn't bothered to listen until now. It's good stuff. Edit2: Damn unrecognizable characters.

    I'm very excited.
  20. lol play the new mann vs machine. Add me on steam too! No Delay for Days. Also I just cheated on my math Homework using wolfram. I'm one lazy bastard. Or the Doomsday levels. It's like a combination of King of the Hill and Capture the Flag. Fast-paced. I bought stuff online 2 months ago, and the US Postal Service decided to not deliver it to me. I hope they didn't send it back to the original sender, because I doubt I'll get it back, and the item is now out of stock.
  21. Yea, I'm pleasantly surprised with Pale Cocoon. I've just recently gotten into it, so I don't know. I did find this blog though. http://stalkingduppi.blogspot.com/ In one post they were comparing Picky Picnic and Pale Cocoon to the band Wha-Ha-Ha. Apparently they're proggy, but I still haven't had time to listen to them yet. I also need to listen to some Rachmaninoff, so thanks for reminding me. I'm an avid fan of Tchaikovsky's piano works.
  22. Deerhunter - Weird Era Continued: I think it was fine, if I remember correctly. Deerhunter -Flourescent Grey EP: I don't think I cared for it. It was unlike their usual work. Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue: I really liked this album, but then I listened to it again later and I thought it was pretty boring. I think the same thing happened earlier this year when I first listened to it. Tobacco - Street Trash Fucked Up Friends [edit]: Fantastic album 9/10 AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 4: I usually skip a few tracks, but I really enjoyed the whole album this time. That Knievel track always cracks me up. He's so condescending. 6.5/10 Aphex Twin - Drukqs: Besides that track with the church bells and Gwely Mernans, I love everything on it. 9.5/10 Dead Kennedies - Fresh Fruit for Roting Vegetables: It was my first listen through this album, so I'm not sure how to compare it to my favorites yet. Anibal Troilo - El Immortal Pichuco: Fantastic tango music. Here's my favorite. So Dramatic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ZOZGQTcdQ&list=UUMrF2afqvVAuatyQnJKMBOA&index=1&feature=plcp Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92: I never cared for this album, but Ptolemy is a kick-ass track. 6/10 Roots Manuva - Run Come Save Me: A fantastic hip-hop album, I don't think there's a bad track on it. Plus one of the tracks features Chali 2na, who has the best voice ever. 9/10 Yuzo Koshiro - Streets of Rage 3 OST: Some of the best VG music ever. It's so gritty. I think it was the first video game soundtrack to incorporate gabber and other forms of hardcore electronic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmx7-bc3TTs Atlas Sound - Logos: Good Picky Picnic - Picnic Land: I've been getting into the 80's Japanese Underground lately. This one in particular has grown on me a lot. My top track of the year is on this album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwyuKAhjp50 African Brothers Dance Band - International: Great music from Ghana. Nice sunny day everything is cool kind of day music. João Gilberto - Águas de Março: Can't get enough of this bossa nova album. Pale Cocoon - 繭: More 80's Japanese Underground. This album can get pretty cold, but there are some nice psychedelic tracks. I'm going to love this album with more listens. Matthew Friedberger - Artemisia: Fantastic. 9/10
