  1. oh my god now i just need a terminal velocity video game and my life can finally end
  2. lol charlottesville they want to remove that statue from the park and richard spencer wants press so there's a photo op. it's nothing, they are removing stuff associated with confederate leaders/memorials all over the south. i was in richmond recently and there were old men waving confederate flags under the stonewall jackson monument. most were veterans. one was in a wheelchair with a blanket draped over his legs. it was kind of pathetic, like seeing a middle aged man in a doctor who shirt.

  5. these assholes are from canada. this is cultural appropriation. absolutely sickening.
  6. nah, they're rarely as indulgent as this show. fargo in particular is a pretty restrained work, so is no country. lebowski is one of their loosest most indulgent movies. and when they go crazy, there always seems to be a reason. with this show it's just random elaborate sequences that serve no real purpose and don't really strengthen the show or feel consistent in any way. but that seems to be this guy's style, legion is the same. maybe worse actually. i like the show though. it's consistently entertaining, high quality tv, but it's also totally empty.
  7. david thewlis? it's all a little on the nose. there's something comforting about this show, the setting and fairy tale quality to it, but i can't shake the feeling that there's nothing to it beyond the style, which doesn't seem to be founded in any overarching purpose or aesthetic. watching legion felt similar. like, it's cool that a tv show is so visual, but why is this happening and why is a simplistic story being conveyed in such a convoluted and obscure way? the most recent ep for instance. why the peter and wolf thing at the beginning? i mean, i know why. but on a deeper level, what's the point? it won't carry over to the next episode. i feel like the showrunner is just trying to show us how visual and fluent he is in film language. well i get it dude, just stick to the story. the coens did.

  9. whoa. isn't this just youtube interstitial music, like the shit they offer for free for one minute cooking videos or something? it's got a ukulele, wordless chorus, bells, low in the mix handclaps, stupid cutesy beat.
  10. i thought the scene where she sees a man in silhouette smoking in a big chair was effectively creepy. weird movie, the director obviously knew how to use sound design and visuals to create surreal horror but only employed it one or two times in the movie. it didn't help that the action in the movie was totally incoherent and, as you said, the people in the walls or whatever were laughable. also the idea of the god at the end was cool but the execution was pretty bad. i admired it as a movie though...how many horror films can actually be classified as cosmic horror? not many.
