  1. I respect your opinion, but I'm going to trust the people who have actively been involved in the negotiations on where credit is due.
  2. I keep encountering this sentiment, and I dunno how people can authoritatively say this. Answering a reporter's question, [Korean President] Moon grinned and said he believed the US president made a "huge" contribution to the first dialogue between North and South Korea in over two years, and said that he wanted "convey his thanks." "Clearly, credit goes to President Trump," [Koren Foreign Minister] Kang told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in Seoul. "He's been determined to come to grips with this from day one." Kang added more, saying "I feel like somebody stepped on the accelerator at the beginning of the year and it's been non-stop since then." “The Trump administration deserves credit for increasing the pressure and deepening even further the alienation between China and North Korea,” says Professor John Delury, an East Asia expert at Yonsei Univeristy in Seoul. “And globally, there have been a lot of bilateral relationships where Trump has put North Korea at the top of the agenda.” I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, but I'm genuinely confused as to how people can make this claim while Korean officials and academics are all saying that he at least deserves some credit here. Also, sorry about the formatting, I don't know how that happened.
  3. Auxien, thanks for posting, I thought a while about your comments today. Some of what you said resonated with thoughts I've had in the past regarding composing, pacing, and stylistic decisions, so it gave me some nice inspiration for when I next sit down to write a track. Ragnar's right on the money about my intentions behind this project. I started writing my own tracks after realizing my own love for synthesizers and electronic music, so the tracks all have at least a little DNA from the desire to simply make some tunes. That said, I definitely do want to expand the project beyond where it's at and test my own potential as well, so I really appreciate being able to share my stuff with everybody here. In my earlier stages of development, my whole approach, studio, and toolkit was much more primitive, and as I've refined things here and there, I find myself aiming higher and higher with my own songwriting ambitions, so I know for that to truly happen, there's a lot of work to be had to get from here to wherever "there" is. Thanks for suggesting mindcolormusic, whosebrian. I hadn't heard of them before, though I do see they've released Microlith (RIP) and Fah, so I'll check them out. My girlfriend is encouraging me to submit my tracks to a label, but I've struggled to find very many labels that release this sort of music and are small enough to have interest in this scene.
  4. I've been mucking about with music in various forms since I was a kid, but only got serious with electronic music about five years ago. If you check out my Bandcamp page, I've posted a bunch of stuff from over the years, so you can actually chart my own progress as an artist over time
  5. Thanks! Just knowing which track stands out to other people is helpful :) My current recording and "mastering" environment is pretty crude, so I'm sure there's a lot of room for improvement somewhere. That said, I am pleased with where I'm at so far.
  6. Hey everybody, I'm pretty excited about some tracks I recorded recently, and I'd like to share them here with you all: Inside Today Smooth In The Cold This Moment They were all recorded live with the following gear: Roland Alpha Juno, Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1, DSI Toraiz AS-1, DSI Evolver, and an MPC 500, with the breaks coming off of a laptop. Ableton was sequencing everything, and my Focusrite interface took care of recording the performance. The recordings are a bit rough in places, but once I get proper recordings, I think I'm going to try to find a label that might release them, such as WeMe Records, or a label similar to them. Let me know if you think there's a better label for this sort of stuff!
  7. I'm still new around here, but here are my links: https://soundcloud.com/johnzn << my sketch pad https://snackmaster.bandcamp.com << where finished projects are available I generally post IDM / acid / braindance / ambient kinda stuff and try to post pretty frequently. I have some really nice stuff that I'm waiting to post until after a few upcoming shows. I'm planning on leaving my full time job in August to really focus on my music, so toward the latter half of the year, I should have some pretty fresh stuff posted pretty regularly.
  8. This one's very nice. I've been playing a lot with Photoshop lately, here's an example of what I've been doing: \
  9. phineus ii, anyone? i love this guy's work.
  10. These chad names reminded me that I've lately been into substituting "bread" into words with the "red" sound, so here's a few ideas for this thread: Bread Hot Chili Peppers Breadman Blonde Breadhead Honestly I thought I'd come up with more, but I don't recognize a lot of the bands that have some sort of "red" in their name.
  11. hearing everybody's mopey assessments of IDM is making me laugh. oh come on. do you really think that, or are you just being dramatic? perhaps you actually meant to say "people who make idm" are the most lonely and depressing people? what happened to the fun side of IDM, everybody? with artists like ceephax, rolando simmons, and EOD (just to name some recent artists) it's not like IDM's identity can accurately be described as depressing and lonely.
