  1. Regarding the Seneca quote, let's go with that hypothetical (which, for the record, I'm not conceding I believe that's what Kraviz meant). She's implying that anyone who criticizes her silence will themselves be vanquished because Nina Kraviz won't engage. 1. She's already engaged with this post. 2. The arrogance of such an assertion is astounding. 3. As you rightly pointed out, she left the quote to be easily read as referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine itself. In fact, so easily that I still believe that's what she's really meant here. 4. This attitude is brought forth a lot when discussing conflicts. Like a lack of engagement is somehow a victory. That is historically untrue (back to before Seneca's time). Among other things, Colonialism wouldn't have prospered as it did. Silence is not always a weapon. Edit: Forgot to add, I agree with the rest of what you said.
  2. "Racial Issues" might be my new favorite term ever. Also dude on the right isn't doing it right. That should be a flat top with zero curvature. The slob even has loose hairs like he's Dennis the Menace or something. Sean Hannity better slap the shit out of him.
  3. Not buying that at all. Other Russian DJ's have publicly condemned Putin at this point (Buttechno for example). Kraviz also wants to continue touring in areas that will absolutely criticize her silence on this issue. As well, the other point I made would have stood anyway even if I did believe she was at risk to speak out. Claiming she doesn't understand politics in the context of this war. While simultaneously denouncing any form of violence. It's disingenuous and should be called out. Frankly, there's a lot more I could criticize in Kraviz's statement (that Seneca quote is a doozy), but I'll leave all that for now.
  4. Kraviz posted quite the word salad on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdqrpooNnh-/ tl:dr version, she's trying to sneakily "both sides" this while not condemning Putin and claiming she was too dumb to understand politics (LOL).
  5. It just dawned on me that Roland tried to dual-use the joystick on the D-50/D-05 as not only a part balance, but also the data entry point for editing. As a result, they default the joystick for data entry. If you are not adept at synthesizer patch editing, *and* patient, the chances of figuring that out and discovering how cool the part balance control is relatively slim. Even with a software patch editor. Because Roland would not put a separate data entry fader/knob on the thing. Comically cheap. Another example of how perseverance is typically one of the best qualities you can bring to a synthesizer. /1st world synth rant
  6. I like hands-on tutorials that come with some synth apps. The Moog app Model 15 for iOS has some really good ones that give you an idea of how subtractive synthesis works. Works good for folks like me who get impatient. edit: and on a similar token, good synth editor apps are really helpful for some hardware synths that have crap UI's with lots of menu diving. Patch Base by coffeeshopped has helped me a lot. The Roland D-05 editor is *way* easier to make patches on than trying to do it on the synth itself.
  7. Surprised this isn't getting more attention. Wild concept, awesome developer, results sound like Boku Mo Wakaran. Unrelated, but I despise the MIDI implementation on the Sherman Filterbank (mk1, unsure if it's different on mk2).
  8. LOL at your critiquing the OP-1's price then posting this fucking dinosaur...
  9. There's also this if you want to go less Uli: https://www.boss.info/us/products/dc-2w/ It's very nice, very Prince.
  10. Boss SL-20. Noisy, extremely intrusive transients, but damned if it isn't fun as hell and immediately useful. MIDI solely for sync purposes so the timing is great. Hard to find but if you can, they rule.
  11. Somehow missed this. Exciting! Lxury's awesome ("Pick You Up" is still an absolute killer)
  12. The Wata Igarashi track in that last one is a torch.
  13. I am dying to see a demo of the TX-6 in "DJ Mode" for comedy purposes. Their description of the functionality, coupled with the size of the faders, got a legit LOL from me.
  14. Diss track or none of this happened.

  16. Claim was that Maphive 6.1 (one of their best tracks, imo) was made on a PMA-5.
  17. Going back to the TX-6, I saw this on their site: "super slimline cables high quality, slimline cables custom-made for TX–6. the narrow profile allows you to use all 6 channels at once and makes for an easy pack down" Does that mean that some industry standard (ie Hosa) cables won't work if you need to use all the inputs? If so, that's shady as fuck. On the Syntakt, it seems like dynamics interplay between tracks is the party piece. That's cool.
  18. I like the Aphex Twin reaction videos most are skewering in this thread. Way more than an academic approach. Everyone has a first time experiencing a style. Getting to capture that on camera, especially in a DIY setting with lower production values, makes it feel sincere. Watching that reminds me of my own experiencing discovering stuff I love for the first time. Even if they don't love it. Also reaction videos are often funny.
  19. There's other things the Pajen firmware for the Volca FM 1 has that beat the Volca FM 2. The smooth preset switch CC is an extremely cool feature, and the ability to control Chorus speed. The Dexed compatibility looks great but I haven't used it. The voice addition and MIDI Out of the Volca FM 2 is nice. I am burned out on Shimmer reverbs (and think it's extra obnoxious to put them on long-decay synth sounds which a lot of FM is).
  20. You are correct, they're recessed now (a pushpin can access it). Either way that's likely the culprit.
  21. There's usually a push button between mic and line level on the back. That's likely what it is.
