Just discovered that this is the very first beat Skepta made. This is by far my favorite grime beat (let alone Skepta beat). Simple and very effective (it stood out in an old Kode 9 mix full of Burial and Digital Mystikz stuff). Wild

Count me in the camp that thinks this is a good album. And wow @ this thread...happy to see WATMM's in a healthier place now! With that said, I upped the thread because I still think the promo video is one of the better music videos ever made. And potentially the most underrated: Fair play if you don't like the music, but I'm baffled why this video didn't get more appreciation.

I went on a bit of an adventure researching this. Have you ever tried an MPC1000? There's a firmware for it called JJOS (you've probably heard of it) that maxed the 1000 and 2500's capabilities. http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/ (check the comparison chart) Personally I think the 1K has enough charm in its sampler (and you can do bit reduction as you wish onboard). JJOS lets you assign pads to trigger specific program changes. I have a program that's setup where one bank of pads triggers Roland TR-8 sounds, and the next bank lets me trigger between the 16 kits a TR-8 lets you store. Pad hits triggering program changes obv. can be recorded (nice way to do some AFX-y quick changes between Roland kits). Between that and the MPC1000 and 2500 having foot pedal inputs, may be worth exploring.

Ultimately I'd say whatever you'd want to mess with eq's with live, throw those on the Mackie. If you have the extra in's/outs from the Focusrite, use 2 each as inserts into the Mackie for the Renoise FX onto ch 1-2 on your mixer.

I guess I'm not following how you'll plug in that much stuff into an 8-channel mixer (I can see everything until the 909 and Elektron). Patchbay still seems like the way to go, and/or potential groupings of stuff into the focusrite and mix from there with sub busses. This is one thing that always pisses me off about smaller mixers. I wish one of these companies would make an 8-channel mixer that literally was 8 mono channels so you got inserts on each channel. That would be a major benefit for what you want to do. As is, I'd suggest running one of the Midiverbs via-the inserts on channels 1-2, but that pretty much forces you into running the mixer as 4 stereo pairs rather than having 2 mono channels (unless the Midiverb can run dual mono, I've never used a Midiverb).
