  1. Incur > N Cur, seems pretty straightforward as ae titles go.
  2. Shitty is a matter of opinion but you can't seriously think it would be non-selling. There are plenty of people, (me included), who would like those tracks on hard copy. I don't own any of those Beat records releases. No matter; much, much thinner and sketchier comps have been releasedover the course of history; ae discards would be nearly prime cuts by comparison.
  3. it would be fantastic if they'd release a comp of all those japanese bonus tracks. What is preventing that from happening?
  4. I feel your pain; absolutely none of my physical friends listen to Autechre. Boards, check. Aphex, check. Meat Beat, check. etc, but Autechre has proven too obtuse. 'tis nice to share the experience with folks online, at least.
  5. Well, points for honesty. Having been listening to the duo since 1994, I've long ago learned early negative impressions can give way to favor over time. I had a very hard time clicking with Draft when it was first released. I shelved it, listened periodically, scratched my head and shelved it again. Then one day, a few years later, it finally clicked. I now think Draft a fantastic album. I've never had that problem with any other ae album to such the same degree. Heck, I can't now understand why Draft didn't click back in 2003. It seems each and every time a new ae album comes out, there are a slew of 'don't get it' 'don't like the new direction', etc opinions, which largely seem to disappear over the subsequent years. I distinctly remember much negativity cast towards Oversteps when it first released, with many claiming it was too simple, even pandering after the intricacy Untilted/Draft/Confield. Fast forward to the present and all I see is praise for Oversteps. Funny how that happens.
  6. I'm always surprised people still go to Pitchfork at all. It's like the music news equivalent of People magazine.
  7. Just received my CD copy of SIGN. Now, I have been defending the album art on this one from the beginning, but sadly I gotta say the CD packaging really feels a cop out. Clearly the design efforts went into the vinyl packaging and then the CD packaging was thrown together as an afterthought. And it's not just the design that comes off sub par; the quality of the cardstock feels flimsy and built to budget, like getting business cards from Vista Print rather than Moo for example. Oh well, still happy to support the duo with a physical purchase as I do appreciate the physical medium as an archival backup.
  8. You should totally send that along with a resume to Pitchfork. Heck, doesn't even matter whether you want the job; just do it to see if they take the bait.
  9. AE interviewed by the NY Times is so awesome. Placing their photo on the front page is rather surreal. On the one hand I skeeve at the idea of wallstreet brokers listening to AE >because< they read an article in the Times. On the other hand, I strongly suspect anyone discovering AE >because< of the Times article will likely find themselves in such deep water they'll quickly go back to their safe territory of Maria Carey or Black Crowes or whatever.
  10. It's in the microsounds. Go back and listen, you'll find it. Take notes and report back.
  11. I'm aware...... Even so, might they not have a moment to bask in the glory of completing SIGN. Just because Sean hinted at 2 albums completed says nothing about how those releases are related nor whether both were ever intended to be released nor on what time frame. I'm not suggesting your desire isn't real. Only, damn, the album >>>>JUST<<<< landed.
  12. Daaammmmmn..... You just got an album and you're already starting again with the pls. You're going to send the duo into therapy.
  13. Soil his high fashion? Surely not. If he's hiking I'm sure he has on his Fortuny, not his North Face.
  14. So, what if Autechre wasn't Autechre?
  15. Then am I odd for enjoying Ventolin though I don't have tinnitus?
  16. Nor did I suggest anything 'superior'. Note I chose the term 'joy' and left it at that. Yes, many do suggest vinyl is superior but even among those who don't there remain many who perceive the surface noise as somehow a compliment to the 'joy' of the listening experience. To that end I do consider the 'complete with surface noise' to be a myth, at least for my needs. I happily gave up purchasing vinyl a LONG time ago, (early '90's). So, we are in agreement that neither of us have spoken to the supposed superiority of vinyl. ?
  17. I was going to make a comment about the 'joy of vinyl' or some such but ultimately we are all liable to our chosen myths. Not that it's super important, but you do realize my comment was in reference to a specific critique of my earlier perception of the album and >not< a statement about COVID denial.
  18. A very good review overall, though there are those obligatory comments about the inhuman qualities to ae music. A chocolate sundae to any reviewer who can do justice to ae without such comments. Personally, I have never felt ae to be inhuman, alien or otherworldly, though I have always considered ae advanced and ahead of its time. And that Lopatin comment; is the reviewer not familiar with ae early work?
