  1. he'll use all the leftover cash Mexico gave him from the great wall build for his fence
  2. wow. this is some next level spin doctoring. absolutely no shame from donald. just another great, great day in American history. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/05/trump-may-unemployment-numbers-302963
  3. this is just my opinion of course, but I've been overall disappointed with most stuff that has come out on ghost box. I had high hopes for them after some excellent releases in the early 2010's, but I just can't get into a lot of their artists. I really like the aesthetic & vibe they are going for, but a lot of it comes across as trying too hard to be British folk weird. @BobDobalina not on ghost box, but check out ghost funk orchestra. reminds me a little of the The Soundcarriers - Entropicalia. it's more '60/'70s jazz funk influenced than ghost box stuff, but I find the album below to be pretty decent. https://ghostfunkorchestra.bandcamp.com/album/a-song-for-paul-2
  4. Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the info. I'm in north Texas, Dallas area. It's growing zone 8a, so we usually have mild winters with a few freezes. I ended up not going with the bamboo as it was pretty expensive. I did recently get some horsetail reed for a certain part of the fence line, which has a lot of the same properties as bamboo. I know it won't get more than 4-6 feet, so no privacy fence, but I needed something that would grow in a wet area of the yard. It grows super fast and within a week I've already seen new shoots grow almost to a foot. If I see it start spreading under the fence then I'll have to do the plastic barrier. @J3FF3R00 sounds like it could be Bermuda or Zoysia grass? If it was long and was wavy during a windy day, could be that. The other pretty common grass at least here in Texas is St. Augustine, which is the real thick blade grass. But that doesn't move much in the wind.
  5. rudy lost his mind years ago. the article below gives a pretty good account of what happened to him exactly between 9/11 to now. in a nutshell, it's all the typical vices - elated ego after becoming "america's mayor", he got rich quick from his consulting business, failed marriages, a controlling 3rd wife, alcoholism, then fading out of the spotlight and struggling for relevance. sounds like his failed 2008 presidential run is what finally drug him off into la-la land. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/rudy-giuliani-new-york-trump-997712/
  6. yeah man, I usually keep thoughts about AI takeovers way in the back of my mind, since so much of it is sci-fi/fantasy influenced. but it's hard not to go there sometimes when you observe the current state we're in. I know we're not there yet, but I really wonder what will happen if the orange shit pile wins 2020. I would say that would be the perfect scenario to let the mad scientists get on with creating our next gen AI robot rulers.
  7. makes you wonder if there was ever a point in the entirety of civilization that we really nailed it when it comes to governing ourselves. either we have one guy running the show, or we try and make it more fair (i.e. democratic). but either way, things always end up going to shit. and as for what do we do, well, my half joking/half serious response would be that we continue building faster and smarter machines that will one day take governance off our plates. let the machines conduct complex analysis on what decisions would be best. we totally suck at decision making. sure we'd be enslaved in the process, but we've had thousands of years to work at it and still can't get it right, so maybe we deserve it...
  8. so now we know who wrote that anonymous op-ed in the NY times awhile back, the one where everyone though it was pence
  9. he's in direct violation of the gospel from chump's second favorite book (art of the deal #1 baby). from Ecclesiastes 10:20: Do not revile the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich in your bedroom, because a bird in the sky may carry your words, and a bird on the wing may report what you say.
  10. Obama's going to be having a round table discussion talking about what's going on right now starting in about an hour: https://www.obama.org/anguish-and-action/
  11. great. now I wish twitter would grow a pair and ban him from their platform. pretty sure he's violated whatever rules they have for everyone else, which don't seem to apply to the king chimp.
  12. very true, but then again, I suppose it would depend on what trump asks them to do exactly. and since he is not grounded in reality and has no fucking clue what to do in any situation, I would hazard a guess that after the twitter shouting subsides, he would ask for their help, but defer to them to decide how to respond. in which case they would try and push for de-escalation and not rolling up in tanks with guns blazing, as commando don seems to think would happen...
  13. so glad we're past the doom & gloom phase and can post stupid comedic shit in this thread again. just to recap, the thread started as funny pictures of people in China wearing plastic jugs on their heads when it was still called the Wuhan virus. moved from there to toilet paper jokes. then the waves of doom & gloom rolled in and it seemed like we were all gonna die. serious posts for dozens of pages. now we're back to comedy, as we're all stuck in an uncertain limbo of "are we back to normal yet?"...
  14. social distancing shoes:
  15. I hate the fact that every time he blames everyone else, that stupid '90s rap song "ain't my fault" pops into my head
  16. I also recently re-watched S1, was the 3rd time for me. completely agree that this is McConaughey's show, his performance is incredible. but don't make the mistake I made of immediately following it up with a re-watch of S2. I watched when it came out and at the time thought it wasn't as bad as the reviews it got, but holy hell the 1st few episodes are such a mess. horrible dialogue and super confusing with all the character names loosely thrown around. S2 picks up toward the middle and there are a lot of elements I like about it, but damn what a waste when you compare it to S1.
  17. the "united" part of "united states of america" doesn't apply, per donnie. maybe we should just rename it "states of america." nice pep talk below by the head coach of the losing team:
  18. gotta admit, I got a little choked up watching the rocket launch on saturday. I'm not even a huge space buff or anything, but I think what made it hit was watching it with my young son next to me. he was so excited doing the countdown and watching the launch, asking all about the astronauts...brought back wistful, nostalgic BoC memories of being a kid and thinking it was still possible to be an astronaut when you grow up...also scenes from Gattaca popped into mind while I was watching the rocket go up
  19. Guys c'mon, the answEr is so fuckin obvious...Obama created corona virus in a Kenyan lab, flanked by HRC laughing hysterically. Dems were in on it, Chuck & Nancy knew. All designed to get trump to lose 2020. Bats ain't got shit to do with it
  20. probably so, but it's not like you'd have to listen to her or anything. lol I didn't even notice.
  21. that's quite an attractive cardboard cutout in the middle there. wonder how many dudes are gonna go try and bang it https://www.eater.com/2020/5/21/21263030/restaurants-social-distancing-mannequins-screens-dolls
  22. his hands are caked in that shit too. hell, maybe that's a possible solution to this whole mess. cover ourselves in spray tan that the virus can't penetrate
  23. looks like it's prison sex time for uncle jessie's old gf: https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/7kp9d4/lori-loughlin-pleads-guilty-college-admissions-scandal
  24. I don't think HST would have made it past 2016. I know this wasn't the cause of his suicide but if he couldn't take dubya running the show, no way he would have mentally been able to handle what is there now...
  25. S1E1 was the pinnacle of the walking dead, became a long slodge by the end of season 3. it's been so long since I watched this, can't even remember if season 3 was good. I stopped around the time season 4 came back from its mid-season hiatus, just lost interest really. IMO those mid season 2-3 month long breaks shows sometimes do really deflate the hype.
