  1. Not too heavily into this on first listen. Let's wait and see what the rest of the album sounds like. Biosphere is always hit or miss for me even though I know he's very good at what he does, but that could maybe also be because I have to be in a very specific mood to muster up the will to listen to ambient music.
  2. All the previous RD threads have been locked for some reason
  3. I'm torn on whether or not I like this more than K&D after sitting with it for a while. I love Karma because it has a very mysterious night time / rainy aura surrounding the music. The marketing of that album established a very cool world actress built around it. This album is great and it sounds more like a callback to the old Actress, but it doesn't evoke as many feelings when it comes to an overall theme or mood. Still happy because any Actress is good Actress and itll defo end up on my AOTY contenders list
  4. I don't think we'll ever know wether or not he's still signed to Warp. Every reviewer and interviewer still refers to him as a Warp mainstay but he isn't present on the roster of active artists when you go onto the Warp website. Anyway new track is good!
  5. Nice! This looks like another full album!
  6. He does it again. Stunning release, maybe even better than K&D. These luxury sonics are a serious AOTY contender.
  7. Oh cern... Things change you know It wasn't always going to stay like the golden years

  9. It's taking a while to get into this tbh. He shouldn't have released the last single in my opinion. It's the only tracks on the album that features beats and I was hoping for more of that... The ambient pieces are good but the album is just so short and they don't make that good of a lasting impression... I hope it grows on me
  10. I am surprised by the positive reception this got here. Personally I can't really get into the thing. It sounds so samey and a little pretentious
  11. Love love love Zuli and this EP is awesome
  12. Isn't it more like diversions 94 - 96? Kinda bummed this isn't more beat heavy Lee but hey, maybe it grows. Ambient stuff always takes time with me
  13. This track is a stunner. Classic Lone. I love the artwork as well which is usually p hit or miss. But so is his music
  14. Fair review although he could've gone more in depth
  15. Funny video but an unbelievably extremely terrible song
  16. He's really just cranking out album after album isn't he
  17. Digital out Nov. 17th and physical out Jan. 19th 2024 As one of hip hop’s premier auteurs, Danny Brown has been no stranger to conscious themes and current affairs; much of his discography features blisteringly honest verses set to explosive productions. But on his sixth album Quaranta, Danny Brown shows a new side: with his forlorn face half obscured by the shadows of his past, he delivers a raw, autobiographical clarity that we haven’t seen before. Part of this comes with age. “Quaranta” means “forty” in Italian, marking pivotal moments and epiphanies in the years since his breakout record XXX. It’s also where the word “quarantine” originates, not only referring to the decade defining lockdowns the album was written in, but to a deep sense of isolation and self reflection that colours Danny’s storytelling. As the album’s very first line says, “This rap shit done saved my life and fucked it up at the same time”: there’s no begging for pity here, rather Danny is telling all, with ‘Maggot Brain’-esque shreds framing his bare, wisened voice. Danny’s vanguard status as an artist allows him to school the youngins of the rap game while unpacking his own downfalls. In that way, Quaranta becomes a case study of the rapper, reckoning with the realities of his dream career. ‘Y.B.P.’ is as much an admonishment of destitute living situations as it is a celebration of Detroit’s ingenuity, leading into an abstract thesis on gentrification in ‘Jenn’s Terrific Vacation’, where musical structures are knocked down and rebuilt just as quickly as the architectural ones are, while freezing tones depict stagnation in the midst of immense change.
  18. Tunes comp is netter than untrue. One of the best garage things out there
