  1. Okay so I was just tuning in to my local alt station 91X who has a new music show on sunday nights and out of fucking nowhere they played Crank Town because of Thom Yorke executive producing this album.

Hearing Clark. on the radio, a dying format I sadly have a passion for, in 2023.

How do I convince them to rotate it?

  2. Yeah this one does have some good sounds going on but on first listen I think I need to relisten for it to grow on me, this is definitely their most varied in sound since Scintilli.

Wondergan might become a fantastic cheese track for me soon. It's in my head right now...

P.S. first listen this is my least fav but still a high 7.

  3. I'm a huge fan of this guys but man when they said they were gonna do space and funk stuff they weren't kidding,

for some reason it just feels a bit cheesier than usual that it's a bit offputting, Wondergan especially. It kind of feels a bit cheap but maybe it's the audio quality on my mp3 leaks, so far this is good but more different than usual from them tbh.

A very reliable Twoism source told me that the next BOC album will include Macquarie Ridge as a bonus track for Japan since the TH Japanese edition didn't come with a bonus track. They are a source I depend on.

Wasn't that the bonus track for Campfire Headphase in Japan though? Is it a remaster and will it include a remaster of Hi Scores?

Most notably, IMO, Reachy Prints. It's a concise set of tunes but the highlights rival some of the highest highs in their discography.

This. On Other Hands and the EGR Elektron EP were fantastic as well. Digging Remedy is a chill album with a lot of Benet Walsh collaboration. Polymer is a bit more unique in sound but I think in recent years I love Reachy Prints more than both. Still great albums though.

Slam, Liverpool St and Nafovanny are some of the best tracks on it imo.

I agree but after that everything is so sammy and forgettable

I can see that even from a fan perspective. I feel production wise there’s been few subtle change to their style after Scintilli. Still some great tunes but it does make me miss a bit of Spokes/Greedy Baby/Scintilli era, which at the moment are my peak Plaid.

However there’s some rather nice psychedelic touches to this new single I do find a bit unique in recent times for their style, the kick is still that one you’ve been hearing since Reachy Prints though, with that off time signature with a glitch this time around.

yeah agree. i think spokes is their most rich and deep record; it has all the classic plaid qualities but feels like it goes beyond them while remaining tied to the plaid vision, so to speak. the later albums are lovely and pleasant, but they are "just plaid" and not much more.

it really does, I always loved Plaid being Plaid, but sometimes when they went beyond their sound like they were in the late 90s to Greedy Baby was phenomenal, with Spokes and Greedy Baby probably being their most experimental and awesome songs while still feeling like Plaid.

I hope we get another type of album like that, I love Polymer being a bit different but I still get vibes from Reachy Prints and Digging Remedy a bit. I feel Scintilli was probably their album that felt like it's sound was on that album particularly.
