  1. No CD but here https://vladislavdelay.bandcamp.com/album/rakka
  2. Yup, got it from Thomann. Love it. To be honest it's more of a toy, I won't actually use it for my music (I don't think), but man I am having fun.
  3. To be fair, A Hundred Days Off is not the worst example. I consider that to be the 'best of the bad' Underworld albums. However, it just feels so soulless to me, uninteresting. Dinosaur Adventure 3D is embarassingly bad, and the opening track just really dull. Twist is pretty good though (is that the country style thing?) and the end track is decent too
  4. Not even in the same ball park in regards to quality. I could not disagree with you more here.
  5. Gents, Multila is here: https://vladislavdelay.bandcamp.com/album/multila
  6. The gig in Oto was amazing. Within 10 seconds, he made all the other musicians seem antiquated. It was genuinely astonishing.
  7. I believe there's a VocalCity reissue coming too
  8. After reading some of the replies on this thread I went of and really listened to “Drift” and “Barbara”. I’m really not feeling either of them. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Karl’s vocals I’m not sure I’d recognise any of them as Underworld productions. They suffer, probably more so, from the same super soulless production and just appear to be vapid, uninteresting music. When I listen to the older stuff, what I think I’m hearing is the result of hundreds of hours in the studio. A real labour of love - people trying to make something significant or at least important to themselves. The new stuff is just fucking so anonymous, soundcloud bullshit. Am oot.
  9. You know, it’s possible for someone to state an opposing opinion without it instigating and argument or nullifying someone else’s opinion.
  10. I always thought they felt like cheap plastic toys. One of the poorest synths I own in terms of construction.
  11. It’s amazing. Build quality is much better than the original, it as a few additional mod options and cone with the guitar controller accessory. For my money it also sounds bigger than the original although it’s very difficult to do proper level matched back to back with these things
  12. That was interesting, thanks for posting it. Seems like the relationship has gone though some tough times. They do sound like they are totally up their own ass though.
  13. I said it was like a parody. It has all the language of an old Underworld lyric but none of the layering or nuance. It really epitomizes my opinion on their new releases
  14. Just remembered the story about a Tibetan guy trying to stab me in the street because I wouldn’t buy his cocaine ? Middle of the day too. Or the guy who thought I was gay becuase I wouldn’t take his offer of clearly underage prostitutes - only to see him disappear with two of them in the evening ?
  15. Yeah, they are pretty much. I did do a census of what language people spoke or what “ethinc group” they identify as - cunts all the same to me. There’s no fucking way a black man owns a shop in Guangzhou. Unless he’s charging people to touch his hair. A ton? Really? Tourists? Spent 4 months there about 6 years ago Japanese are racist as FUCK. I’ve been spit at in the street in Japan. Fucking weirdos.
  16. I don't believe it to be more diverse than anywhere else I've been. Generally I'm the only non-chinese man within 100 miles and I've never seen a black dude there either. In my experience the Chinese people are quite united - fucked governments tend to do that to people. There's still very little outside influence on China, they're just int interested (unless they can make money from you). I've probably spent ~ a year of my life in various parts of China. You want diverse, come to the UK or France or Germany.
  17. Yeah, no shit we have to make generalisations when talking about a nation. There’s nothing wrong with that. You would rather address all 1.4billion individually? What a nonsense comment.
  18. Dirty, disorganised, smelly, with terrible food and hygiene. Genuine people, uninterested in improving their government. Some stunning scenery, great tea. Taiwan is the goof China, and even that's not great. I work in various parts of China at least once per month. Sucks.
  19. I admit I've not listened to any of it yet - there's 7 CDs worth or so. I'll check it out this evening I'd say the new albums aren't even good, never mind great.
  20. Yeah, but from what I understand he left because he wasn't super involved. Yes, they did.
  21. Underworld were probably the people who initially really turned me on to electronic music in a serious way. Both 'Dubnobasswithmyheadman' and 'Second Toughest In The Infants' are triumphs of what can be done musically within the constraint of electronic music. Deep, technical albums. The many supporting EPs that were released along side them were huge, significant remixes - many of which could have served as the main body of work for any other artist. 'Beaucoup Fish' released in '98 and was a more dance floor orientated album. Rhythmically and tonally a departure from the earlier material but still very much recognisable. Many tracks being a twist on straight techno. I enjoy a lot of BF, 'King Of Snake' being clearly my favourite track. It's not as intimate or complex as the earlier stuff, but it's not intended to be. Somewhere around 2000 they released a live compilation album/DVD 'Everything, Everything'. Stunning performances, and just a fantastic package of visual art and music. I've seen Underworld live a couple of times, and this is one of the few live recordings that I think actually does the work justice. Everyone should listen to this, I can't recommend it enough And then, something seems to go wrong. 'A Hundred Days Off', 'Oblivion With Bells', 'Barking', 'Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future' are all tripe in my opinion. Soulless, shitty house music. Embarrassing actually. Listening to an old man mumble of cheesy house beats with super cold production. 4/4 modern, rubbery beats and just musically super uninteresting. Bland is the word I would use. They all sound like fucking Calvin Harris covers to me. Not what veterans of the industry should be involved with. There's a line 'Crocodile' that really exemplifies this for me, and it's something along the lines of "blood on a tissue on the floor of a train". It's like a parody of an underworld line. It's too on the nose, too straight. Too fucking juvenile if you ask me. That line was what really struck my ear. Not only does its attempt at layering fall flat, it sounds awkward and clumsy. There's many other examples of this (like 'Hamburg Hotel' being a joke at the cisterns expense) It's a legacy fucking ruined in my opinion. What went wrong? Am I missing something? Does anyone here actually think any of their later albums have any artistic merit?
