  1. To me, the sound selection is perfect, crunchy but not overpoweringly so as there's enough room for everything to breathe; it feels like it's been actually composed and not just algorithmically cranked out. The melody is an understated background tinkling - then, at 2:50 the it's given a sharper, resonant focus and the track becomes simply sublime. It's like the secondary (solo) melody in Black Dog's Cost II (at 2:50) or the mood shift via melody in Yunx's Cyclomethicone (at 4:05).
  2. No, but digital will be available from Nuron's Bandcamp later when the pressing's sold out - I wrote about this in the initial post.
  3. For some reason skipping through the tracks made me go back to Innerzone Orchestra's Programmed (I also like Versus - live and long) which is an amazing album. I'm not saying that Touch The Earth comes nowhere near Programmed, but it has the same eclectic Detroit atmosphere - but with a Beltran slant. I'll give this a proper hearing to later.
  4. I actually didn't like the release at first, but I kept on returning to it and finally got a copy - it's great, and seems to be more readily available than most Furthur Electronix. There are now plenty of shops stocking them, so I guess Anil has upped the pressing quantities and started to use printed sleeves - maybe success trumps artificial scarcity? The altered Sense releases are easy to come by at the moment, too.
  5. Glitched out distorted bass-heavy electronics from master sound sculptor Kentaro Hayashi w/ Merzbow remix. Emptyset vibes.
  6. More Braindancy melodies and breaks from Cepheid.
  7. Amber's been my singular favourite since it was released, Oversteps is second, and Sign takes third.

    Now Reading

Lovecraft's language takes a lot of getting used to, but when it starts to work for you it really works. I've been reading his works since early teens, so I don't pay that much attention to it anymore.

    Now Reading

I've been a huge fan of Barker's since I first read the Books of Blood, to me they're the shining example of his amazing visceral writing skill; Volume One (In the Hills, the Cities is my biggest favourite) is just amazing, but the whole series is indispensable. I had to glance at his bibliography to verify, but I have almost everything he's ever written, including graphic novel adaptations (Tapping the Vein being the best, but some one-offs like The Yattering and Jack are fantastic) and comics (all Hellraiser series). There seems to be a new novel (Deep Hill) and short story collection (Fear Eternal) in the works, looking forward to them. Barker's filmography is also dotted with some great ones, Hellraiser and Hellbound especially - there's a new version of The Hellbound Heart coming up which could be interesting. Any Lovecraft fans around? I obtained the annotated collections of his stories to get more depth, but our year-old is standing fast between me and the wherewithal to read them...
  10. First two EPs from Fourier Transform, friends of FireScope, Craigie Knowes, For Those That Knoe, Distant Worlds, Exalt, Emotions Electric, Magnonic Signals etc. will appreciate. Recommended.
  11. This is really, really good. If you're into non-cheesy darker melodic synth(waveish) atmospherics (cf. Buspin Jieber, Com Truise), check it out. Sidechain pumping included.
  12. Sähkö - The Movie. Sähkö is electricity in Finnish. Vainio is sorely missed, but he left an awesome musical legacy.
  13. I like some of Basinski's short form works (e.g. Melancholia , Variations: A Movement in Chrome Primitive) - otherwise he sounds like nondescript vaporwave. Disintegration oops, yawn.
  14. There is a reason why holocaust denial is outlawed in several European countries, and I know you know that. This is exactly what I mean with rhetorical sweeping under the rug. Right. Enjoy.
  15. I'll elaborate; I do not deny anyone's right to free speech, but allowing and/or tolerating active dissemination of disinformation and outright lies to distort historical events in service of hatred and discrimination, to allow or tolerate anyone to rhetorically sweep the systematic extermination of millions of civilians under the rug is nothing short of obscene, vile and inhumane. I think holocaust denial and revisionism is hate speech, and should be treated as such.
