Did they ever state that in interviews/the AAA tho, or is it just speculation? Seems likely enough the way it's pieced together that it must have been somewhat wearisome to produce, but don't they also seem to always enjoy what they do? I'm thinking of that popular anecdote about Clark hating the process of composing ETBOY which is another one of those very meticulous idm albums. So I think it's easy to hear albums like that as "this was probably a pain in the ass to make but it sure paid off" but that doesnt' mean they didn't enjoy doing it.

Downloaded my own album from someone on slsk. Not sure if that's a fwp or fws. But I feel like it's a weird sort of achievement. Like, you know you've made it as an artist when people are pirating your music

So glad these guys came back. They fuse together some of my favourite elements of "the genre". All of their releases are excellent. Gotta admit tho a lot of it does sound pretty same-y, a lot of the same tonalities and sound palette, and at a glance this track could almost be a "remix" of previous works. But they have forged a unique characteristic sound and I respect that.

Seems that way yeah. It's still a big question what will happen with this variant. But I thought it was useful for them to at least address why it isn't blowing up immediately if it's such a big threat. I had forgotten about the Beta variant and all that. But yeah it's still very much "wait and see" with this one unfortunately

Not to derail the thread but I'm a big fan of his. Mindflight (2013) is one of my all time favourite ambient albums - check it out if you can find it. It's not on his bandcamp or youtube for some reason, and more recently he has been releasing albums as "Matthewdavid's Mindflight" which makes it even harder to search for, but you'll be glad you did

I agree, and this era had some really strong b-sides (worrywort, fog, cuttooth, amazing sound of orgy, fast-track, kinetic) but... I've already heard them all? These anniversary re-releases are a pretty standard thing now I guess but it's mostly about $$$ and probably only has two or three salvageable tracks on it. Plus yeah I do kinda feel like I outgrew them awhile back
