This really freaks me out. People talk about "when this is over" but we could be very, very far from it with shit like this

the 'variants' are mostly just fear mongering at this point. are they real? yes. are they going to extend the pandemic into next year? no.

florida has the highest percentage of cases of B117 variant, and is one of the least restricted states, and their numbers are dropping just as much as every other state for months now.

what is happening when i eat spicy teriyaki chicken and 10 minutes later i'm spraying?

is that the teriyaki itself? or is it somehow forcing the previous meal out in that fashion.

it doesn't happen with normal teriyaki, only spicy.

you pretty much nailed the dynamics between the elements, it's a delight to hear. maybe a good saturator on the master for Xtal could help crunch things together and liven up the drums a bit, they're a bit hidden in the back. I feel like the subtle grittiness is a strong signature on his music from that time

i suspect that the quadraverb he was using on that record adds a lot more subtle background noise than the valhalla vintage verb, even though VVV is supposedly modeled after the quadraverb (i think).

what I'm most impressed by is how well the reverb sits in the mix, despite the lack of cassette mastering. I think it's one of his most under-commented traits, and usually where things can go awry in many productions, especially in recreation attempts. was it all valhalla vintage? excellent job!

thanks and yep all valhalla vintage verb

i used some cassette emulation so maybe that helped a bit...

or maybe this never passes, and they're lost down the rabbit hole forever...

covid will be effectively a non threat in the US by May/June and a non threat globally by Fall

My prediction based on the recent numbers

  6. Apparently there's no thread for this yet so here it is

Any bilingual or multi lingual folks here?

I'm learning French atm and I'm just looking for some advice on language learning.

Obviously full immersion is not an option for me at this point but I do have quite a bit of spare time outside of work.

    Any suggestions?

Really good comment section. Listening to her is mesmerizing and there's such a light behind her eyes. Everything she says is extremely coherent when broken down in pieces but it's so tangential and fluid it resembles cut-up William S. Burroughs-esque spoken word. Christ alrighty, one could only speculate who she was and what's she has been through.

i swear youtube comment sections suddenly became much better like 2 years ago somehow

they used to be such a cesspool

  8. anyone ever heard of the 'headless way' from douglas harding? it's a book and also just an idea i guess.

its like a westernized version of buddhist non-duality.

basically it's the fact that you (and i and everyone else) do not have a head....at least from your 1st person point of view.

it's sort of hard to explain, but there are some exercises you can do to bring awareness to this simple fact that in your direct experience, you are a headless torso, and where your head should be is the world.

i guess it's supposed to trigger a sort of "selflessness" and to remind you that where you think "you" are (for most people, they feel like "they" are behind their eyes looking out at the world)...doesn't actually exist

simple exercise: try to locate your face in your direct experience...try to see it. it's nowhere to be found.

this can trigger a rather psychedelic feeling when you finally feel it
