  1. Oh yeah- I meant to mention that too, I do try and listen on average quality computer speakers and shitty laptop speakers. Really, the more variety you have the better.
  2. Exactly- I think it’s a really cool thing that a lot of current fm stuff kinda passed by. Like- the newer fm stuff is a lot easier to use and get crazy with quickly- but still without either a lot of editing or modular techniques it’s pretty impossible to get the evolving things you would get on the old ones that had multi
  3. I think a really important thing to do is listen in multiple rooms with several different types of speakers. I feel like I read producers saying that all the time. I have hs5s I use, and hd 280s. But I also listen back on nice speakers and in my car.
  4. Saw them play with Tomahawk in an arena, the sound was decent. They are definitely one of the radio bands I like the best.
  5. Robert Hood- Minimal Nation is an amazing album. I see his stuff posted here but I didn’t see that one (maybe I missed it)- Also Anthony Shakir is pretty awesome. In the same vein as some of this stuff, if you have never heard Joey Beltram, CJ Bolland, or Hardfloor- check them out. Probably most of u guys have, but I figured I throw that out there haha
  6. One cool, really complicated way of creating evolving tones that I’ve found with the dx 11 is to use the multi channel feature (up to 8 tones on different midi channels) and create different attack or decay points for every operator throughout all 8 tones. So 32 operators could have all different envelopes creating a really wild type of sweep. I’ve actually never gone all the way, normally I only use a few channels when I do this type of stuff- I get lazy, but in theory it could get really insane. Of course when you have that many operators going, and some of the tones have different carrier things happening based on the algorithm they are set to- things can get even crazier.
  7. Yeah, I was thinking about how “fall” it seemed
  8. Yeah, I didn’t even need to read the thread, I just thought- “oh yeah next time I’m driving, that will be what I play”. Like, the second I saw the thread.
  9. Well put- the SW sequels definitely needed less fractures or something - like a more singular vision. If Filoni worked on them, they would have been better. Even if he wasn’t at the helm, he would have made them better. He should just be in charge. I have found the same issue with DC movies. Even if they wouldn’t have competed well with Marvel, they should have stayed true to the tone they started with “man of steel”.
  10. International Language is amazing. Richard H. Kirk’s solo stuff is really good too. I first heard Sweet Exorcist on this “aural ecstasy” tape back in the day. It was an awesome compilation. Back in the early 90s I didn’t connect the dots at all that it was the guy from Cabaret Voltaire. I got into them around the same time tho- thru a magazine article with Skinny Puppy, where Ohgr said he was influenced by them. He will be missed, what a bummer.
  11. Damn, that DJ Shadow album was garbage. I love his stuff, but that was the end for me liking him. I remember someone gave me that cd for free when it was out- and at the time I had collected everything he had, singles, vinyl imports, everything….. but I sold that shit on eBay almost immediately. Honestly private press wasn’t anything to write home about either. More album wordplay
  12. What do u think of “outsider music”? Some of it is pretty bad……. but also I feel like a lot of us on here almost fall into the category. Idk
  13. On the topic of Disney Marvel and Star Wars: The nostalgia factor is probably what the writers are trying to hit us with. I think that the MCU is definitely not on par with my favorite artsy films. I am a pretty die hard Lynch fan, and like a lot of you I also am into Kubrick, Aronofsky, Nolan, blah blah blah. But- the MCU really has done something unprecedented with the interconnections and how it compares/mirrors the comic book universe formula. Nobody else has ever done something like that leading to the Infinity stuff and whatnot. I read a lot of comics, mainly trippy sci-fi, but some super hero stuff, and I think they do a good job of capturing the essence of what makes them great. I don’t really know if some of these big deal directors are super hero, or comic book fans, so I really don’t care about how they feel about those movies. Just like I don’t care about how Stan Lee felt about Aphex Twin. All that being said- it’s mainly about my son, and family- and going thru a lot of this stuff with them. I mean- the second season of Mandalorian was really awesome after going thru all the Star Wars stuff with him, and I do read some of the SW books and comics and have been a pretty obsessed fan my whole life. Just, basically I’m trying to say that that seeing these things come to fruition thru Disney, like with marvel: Thanos, Drax, Kang, Celestials…..these were things I never thought I’d see on film when I was a kid. My son has played these games and watched all the shit, and knows it, as well as most of his friends. It’s like “their” original Star Wars trilogy. The average elementary school kid knows who Thanos is? That’s pretty fucking cool IMO.
  14. Yeah, definitely! Once I figure out the best quality paper, I’ll let you know. Thanks!!!!!
  15. Was just about to post about this. Definitely did a good job so far. I always wanted this to be a show- I remember back in the day when I read it (only read the first two trades) telling my wife “I hope they make this into show some day, because you would love it!” and she has so far!
  16. I’d get a cheap but decent bass amp like a peavey or fender. Probably at least a 12”, in the $2-300 range. I use a decent Fender bass amp (for my bass) and it works awesome with my 606.
  17. My bandmate and I have been experimenting with this fancy printer that prints posters and whatnot. We’ve been testing out some of our recent stuff (mainly stills from videos we are creating) with it:

  19. Been watching “What We Do in the Shadows”- it’s good. I watched the first half of the movie a while back and was bored- I do love the documentary format so much, and I love most of what Jemaine and Taika do, but the show is way better IMO.
  20. If you have a nice amp that you can easily mic- putting a box fan between the amp and mic can create some cool choppy tremolo/amplitude modulation effects. Other fans work too, but box fans are easiest to work with. Messing with the speeds can be really cool. Also taking the grill or casing off the front of the fan will allow you to spin the blades yourself, so you can really mess with the rates in an organic way.
  21. I love this album, but the cover…….. another one I love the music, but…….. -this is from like 2005 or something? Most Jack Dangers and mbm stuff has pretty cool art
