I miss my slightly eccentric English dandy days. Was fine in London or Bristol, but doesn't really translate to rural France. Mostly dress like a tramp these days. I live for shorts, t-shirt and flip-flop days.

It's just a matter of changing the time signature in the sequencer, right? If you want a piece with a grouping of (3+3+2+2), for example, you change the time signature to 10/8. (2+2+3) = 7/8 (3+3+3+3+2) = 14/8

Let it also be said that a plethora of musicians from countries where their classical or folk music uses non Western tuning, DO happily create music using Western tuning and western genre styles. For example, I know that the psych/prog/mathrock scene is banging in Pakistan right now. This is not an argument for any "side". Just a piece of information worth adding to add to the conversation.

Cultures have never existed in a vacuum and they don't arrise out of nowhere. All cultures are an evolution and constant blending of influences, whether through migration, invasion, colonisation, cross-cultural unity. If beauty can be created through the exchange of ideas and practices, bring it on. There's no such thing as an ethnically or culturally homogeneous land anywhere on earth. There's no such thing as cultural purity. I celebrate the evolution and unity of cultural ideas, practices and arts. Creatives everywhere love to push the limits of their tools in order to express themselves. Evolution of music tech that adapts to these new practices is always happening. I often write music which uses samples, instruments or ideas from cultures that are (not my own, ie they don't match my ethnic heritage). You can call me a cultural appropriator or whatever. But it's my passion. Track of mine from 2006, made on Reason.

I've not lived in an Arab country, but I visited Dubai in 1992 and Doha in 2018. I've got friends who live/have lived and worked in UAE, Qatar and Kuwait. I don't need to give a personal story about migrant exploitation. It's widely evidenced and a widely known issue. A quick google will bring up 1000s of reports about the matter.
