  1. Yeah, I love the functionality, sound, and almost everything about a Cowon except the durability. I had a G3 and a 7 in succession, and each died when the play button failed prematurely. As cool as they are I can't bring myself to get another one.
  2. who's bob dobbs? no relation mate

  3. YAY Good news, I will appreciate some 4tet come January
  4. Here's the 16-minute version of Uviol from the last autechre.ws webcast: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MC2GOMQM
  5. I've never been a huge fan of Confield (actually prefer lp5 and Draft), though for me Uviol is one of the most fascinating tracks they've ever done. While it's similar in some respects to Recury with the persistent underlying rhythm, I love the duality of it, how it oscillates between beauty and madness. And the 16+ minute version of it from the 2008 webcast is insane!
  6. Actually based on my research the need for phil collins is more like infinite summation 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16... which mathematically converges to enough phil collins, though practically never quite reaches unity (phil collins).
  7. 1 clear the way for the S, the S1Ws

2 battlin' an mc was when Tip was at his baddest

  8. Anyone know the story behind why he released exactly 1 album for warp?
  9. great album, acidisco tweaks my nipples every time
  10. mouse on mars, spanners... you're okay in my book, a-o-k

  11. awesome track

  12. rev up the motorscooters

  13. I can tell you're somebody... and not somebody's fool

  14. Alias - really underrated, awesome producer, I think he's associated with anticon but he makes some damn fine instrumental albums on his own, especially his latest Resurgam Blockhead - Already mentioned, seems to get better with each release - I love Uncle Tony's Coloring Book, though Music by Cavelight and Downtown Science are good too. He produces a lot of Aesop Rock's stuff and probably deserves most of the credit for his success. DJ Krush - he can be hit or miss especially since he's released a ton of stuff over the years, but overall I like his production style. Most all of his albums feature guest vocalists on some/all of the tracks - meiso and milight are decent, recently I've be listening to stepping stones which is split into two discs ("lyricism" and "soundscapes"), both of which are pretty good. Madlib - Madlib is the man, I like Beat Konducta 1/2 almost as much as donuts, 3/4 (in India) was a bit meh only cuz Oh No made the same album in Oxperiment (only better), and 5/6 is a tribute to dilla and pretty good. Dabrye - already mentioned, one/three and instrmntl are both great. Nightmares on Wax - Still love smoker's delight and carboot soul! The Herbaliser - good funk/hiphop/soundtrack type music, although most of their albums feature guest MCs on about 1/2 the tracks. Also track down some of the instrumentals of DJ Premier & Pete Rock productions, those guys are pretty much hiphop legends in beatmaking

    a fine line

i see what you did there
  16. Oh one more rec I forgot is tadd mullinix (aka dabrye) - his hip hop stuff as dabrye is decent but before that he made an album under his own name - winking makes a face - some pretty amazing/unique idm, kinda reminiscent of autechre circa lp5 but more baroque if that makes any sense
  17. I've gotten into basic channel and monolake by way of ae and have really been digging their stuff a lot, both are worth checking out. Also mouse on mars are hugely underrated, I'd put them up there in the pantheon on idm geniuses. Autoditacker is such a brilliant album, there's like 69,000 simultaneous great ideas on each track
  18. just, joshin m8, when the shot's there you gots to take it
  19. I bet this is the most action that bed's seen in a while
  20. hey I didn't know you could leave comments to yourself, this is like discovering masturbation thanks
