  1. Seasons 1-3 are all great. I couldn’t really get into the 4th season. This new one has some stuff going for it and some stuff going against it (like some pretty unbelievably over-the-top Minnesota accents). Season one and three are probably the best. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is quite fall-in-lovable.
  2. The show has nothing to do with the movie and each season is a whole new story that has virtually nothing to do with the season prior.
  3. Yeah. Sorry. That one didn’t do anything for me. edit Thee other song from the new album (mother nature) is ok, but not as good. It sounds like one of their most accessible songs since oracular spectacular.
  4. It’s the best thing I’ve heard from them since the alien days single. Sounds like MGMT has gone full Ty Segall (who is a stone cold genius, btw). @cruising for burgers… drop date is actually 2k24
  5. Stuck on a plane again and got to watch the Dungeons and Dragons movie. I’m happy to say that it was actually loads of fun. Actually pretty well written and put together. Made me regret not seeing it in the theater. On the return flight I started watching the new Avatar movie and it wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great either. It’s a lot like the first one but with big fish and less heart.
  6. Shane MacGowan https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-67546785
  7. Fuck!!! Completely missed this! Got the email about 9 hours ago and didn’t check.
  8. Just saw the first episode. I don’t know. It doesn’t feel like a winner, but I’ll give it another episode or two before I throw in the towel.
  9. The same director (Panos Cosmatos) did an episode of Cabinet of Curiosities that was lush as fuk. I posted about it a while ago, probably in the TV thread.
  10. I’m curious if you or anyone else has kids. I know tech bros etc microdose at the office all the time but I’m curious what the experience of parenting is like with microdosing. I have a friend who is a stay-home dad and he tells me he loves to get stoned and play with his kid. As a past-life stoner / psychedelic warrior, I would be a bit anxious about not being alert, so I wouldn’t smoke out while watching my kid but I’ve never microdosed so I don’t know the parameters, but I’m curious. I certainly wouldn’t want to trip balls with my kid, but I know it’s probably not the same.
  11. Currently watching the new season of The Crown. It's gut-wrenching. Very well done. Just watched S6E3 and was floored. Possibly the best episode of the show, so far, imo. Whether fact or fiction, it's some great tv.
  12. I’m mostly curious about Ghost Train because I’m still obsessed with true crime docs. Just watched the 2 part Torso Killer “series” on Hulu. Very interesting case. I saw another doc series about him that was also pretty well done that I strongly recommend watching before watching this new one.
  13. Thanks for real for the proper review. Also thanks because I absolutely loved First Reformed (imo maybe his best script since taxi driver) and I had absolutely no clue that the other two films existed. It’s embarrassing because I consider myself a soft Schraeder fan. I say “soft” because his work, however great, almost always feels like a punch in the gut. You never go into one of his films expecting to have a laugh. I’m glad he does what he does, though.
  14. @Joyrex Can we pin this thread already? I’ll get out of the way now.
  15. I mean, if you can read that and not feel a little frightened about having that sort of person in power then I don’t know what to say. When leaders “root out” people, it never really looks great in history books… but I guess that’s the “radical left thug” in me talking.
  16. Because he’s Corey fucking Feldman, that’s why.
  17. To be fair, being a YouTuber who preys on and relentlessly trashes a human “meme” for clicks is way more gross than being the meme. The fact is that Mr. Frankenhooker Shirt doesn’t exist in our reality without Corey Feldman.
  18. I listened to BBC Cymru almost every day while on my recent trip to Wales. As I do not speak Welsh, I didn’t know the names of the shows, disc jockeys or artists that they played but I was shocked at how much of the music I really enjoyed. A lot of of it that I heard sounded to me like poppier versions Ty Segall or Dungen. Lots of psychy, sometimes folky or fancy indie rock stuff, with lots of catchy hooks. I wish I knew more about what it actually was. I’ll never know, probably. What was particularly impressive was that 100% of the tunes had Welsh lyrics, which is hardcore as fuck. Those bands could easily choose to sing in English, seeing as they almost certainly are already speaking English and would benefit infinitely by just opening up their markets, but they are repping their shit hard. Pretty dope.
  19. Stuck in bed with a stomach bug yesterday. Got to binge the rest of Usher. It was ok.
