  1. Dublin is finally kicking :music: It's been a while since I hadn't listened to something without doing anything but focusing on the music. I just can't focus on anything else right now, it's like my brain is melting - that's a good thing.

Dublin is an anomaly. It is the only set with some super hi freq stuff going on that sticks out against all the others (you can hear the difference from the first bit of music) or from the 8 min mark on that track that is on all the sets, there is this high pitch hit. (watch the eq to see it stick out).

Or the little 50:03 bit is almost a ventolin homage it is so piercing. (but kinda cool)

I thought it was mp3 atrifacting at first... wierd

  2. Also as an aside, I would liek to show appreciation for the blyz cstl, 6852, I guess they are pretty overtly old school hip-hop influenced and maybe pushing the boundaries on what is considered a-side ae(?), but recks on surfacing on a proper album is jsut great (although still technically(?) a b-side..?). any comments?

Any thoughts on rick rubin's early work? U got a few years on me, and might have been digging into more obscure stuff then but that was my intro to 808 badassery and got me from there to here.

ah fuck it.. name my machinedrum plz?

Also have you considered yr answer to the favourite cartoons/animation question froma couplea days ago RB?

  3.

My last question for today: You guys are not into classical music at all? Whatever era, I'm generalizing. Just curious. Because there's a whole world to offer in that department and you can believe me, the enthusiast classical listeners go crazy/insane/however:emotional while listening to their beloved pieces like other music listeners do. Because many people think its just boring, but its a similar statement like saying Ae is random sounds - utterly wrong.

i just dunno anything about it

    recc me some

I am not big on classical, most of it sounds too poncy or dull but fuck if I haven't had a smoke and watched this over twenty or so times. It starts a bit slow (and everyone knows the start) but fuck me.. there is one chord that is.... well... I shouldn't really ruin it.

also the music anim software video is pretty rad in an atari 2600 kind of way - would be pretty ace to see some ae stuck thru this.

  4. hello ae, thanks for yr time.

    I have some brief questions:

    what is your favourite cartoon?

do you really dig any drummers in particular?

    have you ever sampled rubberbands?

zen/mindfulness/meditation: is there the odd buried reference in yr material?

did you know valis is basically a true story? there are online doco's and the exegesis is a real thing - you can buy a pretty large chunk of it in paperback. It's pretty wild. RAW also got hit by a pink beam of information, he and PKD wrote letters to each other about it.

Big thank you both for the amazing music over the years! and the lols in this thread to a lesser, but also important extent.

ps: pls digital release livesets as is it's totally not milking it pls

  5. Yeah it is not the quaristice variety hour (x2) I thought it might be. Definitely a progression from livesets+MOT funk trax (ethegon/rew1) put thru an IDM 2013 (or 2001?) grinder.

yep disc 1 feels real homogeneous except for prac-1 being hella swingy and first few minutes of blaaaadelores changing the pace/mood. disc 2 I have saved for tonight.

I reckon it is obviously great. Very dense. So many great ideas and sounds. Seems like maybe it is composed for live shows, but then filtered/effected/layered/obsessed over while still maintaining the ass-kicking vibe (mainly in bassdrum/snare/bassline interplay) rather than de-constructing to the nth degree. It isn't sparse/sterile/clinical, and there are some nice warm textures. It's all up in yr face.

The one (only) thing I did not dig was the sudden volume drops near the end of bladelores where the synth-wash layer on the entire L or R channels are dipped quite dramatically (the broken headphones effect). harsh effect dudes.

broken mp3/spectral intro w/ dat snare

the FX modulations in the background of flep

    bladelores funky bassline triplets

    1000 other things

  6. while we're waiting can somebody remind me what the best audience recordings are for the Quaristice and Oversteps tour. I tried doing a remastering for the Oversteps tour but i lost my files, i remember Fredd-E did one too. Both of them were pretty different remastering jobs, mine was sort of a high end sparkly overload for most people but id still like to find that if anybody bothered downloading. I can't remember for the life of me which tour dates were used as source material for the remastering though.

    2008-04-04 - usa-california-los angeles - echoplex mastered by Freddy E?

Domino, Melbourne, Turin (my fav) are the good Oversteps ones?

I have an Oslo set labelled FG master but no original

  7. Donut despair there is still 1hr 50mins of music to be heard!

I bet there is some untilted style stuff on there, sort of like how Quar has chenc-9, fwze, bnc cstl which feel untilted-esque (to me anyway) and MOT/Oversteps doesn't really have those beats.

I bet at least one track has the ganz graf/augmatic disport fuckery going on.

I hear a hint of LLC in SPL9, but it's just the machinedrum FM snare and the 3 hits at the end of the bar, it's not complex but def reminiscent. So I can see why that connection is being made.

    Fuckin love that snare.

Worst case scenario is Oversteps/MOT part 3 but with more beats in a Quaristice style. Which to me would still be amazing.

  8. Oh shit, this hip hop talk has got me superfuckingexcited. I've been thrashing 6852, blyz castl, fuckin Rew(1), Etchegon (bit of a stretch but hey, it's undeniably funky) for weeks. if it's like skull snap but a fair bit more fucked up i'll gonna be pissing everywhere (in a good way). was skull snap a nod toward things to come? I fuckin' hope so. I would commit crimes for 10 or so more tracks like 6852/blyz castl. (17 might be overkill, need me some ae ambient and some ae techno and some ae epic prog idm too....)
