  1. Ya, it's digital. Been feeling these types of vibes lately.
  2. Grabbed a Zoom MS70CDR for $74. Having fun making noise
  3. that looks disgusting lol how was it? loool yeah the hazyness is unusual to say the least ! that's a great brewery for hopsy beer and I'm pretty new to this kind of brew but I like it a lot ! Super hazy IPAs have been all the rage in the states for the past year or so. There's also a lot of beers showing up in my local scene that verge on straight up fruit juice too -- sour/tart base beers with pounds and pounds of fruit puree added.
  4. I'm a big supporter of unloved 90s rack effects, you should totally do it. Boss SE-50 prices seem to be back down again, they were really overpriced last time I looked ($200-$300) but I see a bunch in the $80-$90 range now and at that price they're absolutely worth it. SE-70 is supposed to be great, too, but they are both useful. I've only owned a 50 and it can be a little noisy (but really not bad at all, nothing I've ever noticed in a mix even if I was looking for it, and it's just hiss not hum or anything) but they have a great, raw sound and a very ugly digital distortion. The SE-70 is a bit more hi-fi and has a different selection of effects (and a much upgraded vocoder compared to the one in the 50), and the distortion is analog so it sounds more like a run of the mill Boss distortion pedal than the weird attempt at digital modelling that the 50 had. I don't think you could go wrong with either at the prices I'm seeing right now. It could be Internet legend but I've heard that Liam Howlett from The Prodigy toured with a rack full of at least 4 SE-70s for a long time, for what that's worth. EDIT: also the battery is really easy to change, so try to find one that turns on but has a bunch of garbled characters on the screen and try to get a low price on it. Hey, thanks! I did think to myself, "There's got to be some out of fashion old gear that's a steal right now." But had no idea where to start searching. The only thing with rack gear is that my desk is pretty full with my current setup, but I could build/buy a 19" rack to go under my desk to fill up with cool stuff. Will definitely look into it.
  5. Been longing for some hardware FX. Delay/reverb etc. Pretty sure I'm gonna grab a multi-FX unit such as the Zoom MS50G or the likes, they're super reasonably priced on eBay.
  6. I have a set of ones like this, they're great. It shouldn't be an issue to go into the microwave that I can think of.
  7. Fuck yes! 43 grams of coffee to 2,3 litres of water doesn't seem like a whole lot though? It's 43g of Chicory Root + 1lb of coffee
  8. I used to do tons of pour-over local roast w/ my kalita wave. Since moving back to Lawrence I've really been digging Repetition Coffee and I've gone to a couple of their tasting events. They also roasted some coffee for a special collaboration coffee stout with the Lawrence Beer Company that was amazing. Over the past couple months I've been making cold brew in a 32oz mason jar a couple times a week and it's been especially nice. I was always a black coffee guy, but a bit of cream in the cold brew really hits the spot.
  9. So happy I picked mine up on the cheap as everyone dumped their MKI stock
  10. I've heard the OT is very picky about external clocking in general, I know mine shows variance by roughly +/- 0.8bpm when using Live as the master clock source. Not sure if the OT or Lives clock via MIDI is the culprit.
  11. If you're on instagram and interested -- I do a daily art post along with eurorack/synth stuff (+ dogs/random life stuff)
  12. Westy 12! Lucky dog.... Been enjoying this Odell Rupture while playing some World of Warships tonight, very nice fresh hop aroma and flavor, not very bitter. Apparently they grind the hops fresh daily before adding to the brew.
  13. If you get into DIY you can easily save up to 50% compared to buying the modules brand new. I've built my 6U x 104hp system for about $2k
  14. AKG 702 -- bass was a bit lacking until I got them broken in (or I just got used to them?) Nice neutral sound, super comfortable/light weight.
  15. Got my OT last night. Set it up and messed around a bit while going over some youtube vids + the manual. Got frustrated a few times with things that weren't obvious (record triggers can only be changed when the record settings are open on screen -- this one had me for a while as I couldn't figure out why the damned thing kept overwriting the recorded sample when I was trying to listen to it). Gonna put in some more time with it while I can today since I'll be out of town for a long weekend.
  16. Which one?The only one? https://youtu.be/QrAFuzg67dM
  17. Link I picked up the Signature 12 MTK about a month ago, used for $365. USB multi tracking is nice -- routing ITB for FX then back out to the mixer for its analog summing. I generally set up all my hardware then play it live while recording the stereo mix of 13/14 as the final product. My only complaint is the multi-tracking is all pre-fader so you're just stuck with the raw sound -- can be great if you want to run everything then do all your FX/mixing post production. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Sig12MT
  18. Awesome, thanks for the input! Definitely leaning Soundcraft after this thread. Might just go for the 8 because it's close to $100 less on Sweetwater, just a follow-up Q - from what I've read the only big difference from the 8 and the 12 is the number of channels, unless I'm missing something. The EQs seem the same yeah? So should I go big on the 12 or stick to the 8? For the foreseeable, I've only got 3-4 line signals, plus 1-3 more when I jam live with buddies. If you already get 4-7 line level signals in rare instances, why not go for the 12? Better to go bigger than you need now and save yourself some $ down the road.
  19. Ended up pulling the trigger on the OT last night -- I literally carted it up on the site and began checking out at least 3 or 4 times before I actually completed the process... August 9th ETA ?
  20. Found a deal online for a brand new Octatrack MK1 for $800..... Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck... Do I need this? Maybe.....
  21. Have a look at the open-source eurorack module Ornament & Crime for inspiration re. a Teensy CV sequencer/generator
