I'm probably the only person on earth stoked for the second movie. Plenty of problems with the first one but it was still enjoyable. And it was miles better than the original alien. How the FUCK does a cat survive all of that carnage fuck you Ridley Scott.

midterms usually take fucking forever to grade as well....this semester is probably the first time in history I finished them waaay ahead of the promised return date. I was just in the zone i spose. Gotta take those small victories. I feel quite privileged... At my university, all exams are graded and returned to students within 10 days. Although we are a distance/online university, we have the exact same final exams, syllabus, course materials, etc as a regular university. I still hate exams though. lol I used to have a one week policy....now that I am teaching and taking grad classes, that is fucking impossible.

man and you are absolutely right in bringing up that point. Ill be honest, I have no idea or any experience whatsoever with using ebooks, I wouldn't even know where to start. If you could guide me to a website with a comprehensive "how university students can get max use out of an ebook", I'd seriously appreciate it. My bookshelves are about to break from the weight of the books on top of them. One of my peeves is the e-highlighting....is there a program that allows easy quick-click referencing to pages you highlighted? That would be amazing.

Im getting really annoyed at how fast pens and highlighters run out of ink. I know I should underline less, but I don't know whats of the utmost importance until I have completed the entire book.

Id absolutely move to Canada if they offered me a job. Beautiful weather, beautiful cities (Toronto and a few others Ive visited), and the people are like night and day compared to the typical American. Plus I welcome socialized healthcare, and Canada seems to be pretty efficient in that regard. I would technically at least consider moving back to South Korea, other than the isolated incident, I loved the culture and the nightlife. Problem in reality though is that at best I could only be an ESOL teacher, and make scraps.....though compared to what im making now it might actually be more....hmm...

Midsemester has got me stressed out. I feel like theres never any time to calm down...always some assignment or book to read. My gf is long-distance, shes visiting in a week but other than that and classes Im pretty much a hermit. I can only hope that as I get further acclimated to the pace of reading and writing that I am far more efficient in time management. Im almost positive that I am going to die of a stress-induced heart attack.

Seems like Spain is steamrolling everyone in these games. I was really looking forward to clashing with a massive French Empire in this game too :(

BEHOLD, my Austro-Hungarian Empire: Created the Union about 250 years before it actually happened with a series of incredibly lucky inheritances. Managed to inherit Hungary, Holland, Bohemia, and Milan all within about a century. I finally managed to take a few Dutch provinces from Burgundy in some nasty wars with their gigantor Iberian Empire ally. Slowly focusing on building up my economy to afford a few more ships and troops for the inevitable series of showdowns with Iberia down the road. Conversely, doing really, really well with Holy Roman Empire reforms...might even be able to form that if I make it through the Reformation unscathed?

had some free time so played Europa Universalis III as Austria on hard mode. The game has become unexpectedly entertaining. Spain somehow got into a personal union with France and is now completely dominating Western Europe, allying with Burgundy, Savoy, and Sweden. I'm focusing on inheriting Hungary as soon as possible for the extra manpower, and consolidating authority over the Holy Roman Empire....right now I can't even touch Spain-France....we fought an 8 year war over Normandy and Im positive it hurt me way more than it did them.

for whatever reason this song was stuck in my head for the past two days.....and its one of the few that im happy was stuck in there...makes you remember how seriously amazing and classic some of these old works are...we take classics too much at face value these days in their "classic"ness methinks. Sometimes it takes re-listening to these guys devoid of external critique to remember how amazing these are thematically, sonically, etc. Anyway

awesome man, glad you love the Paradox games too! Youll be hooked soon enough. Which Hearts of War is it? I only have II, but id love to get III+all the expansions once it gets cheap enough. The Soviet Union is such a bitch to beat after 1940, pretty much impossible after 1941...team up on them early when you have the massive infrastructure and tech advantage, and then do nothing but encircle their infantry, rinse and repeat over and over. I think the fastest I had ever gotten the SU to sue for peace was one year. Another time I had to drive all the way into Siberia and it didn't end until late 1945.

you can do it!! i was in a similar situation. Drink a whole pot of coffee and power the hell through it!! You got this!! sorry to hear that man. and I completely understand what you mean by having that intense need to know why. All I can say from experience is, you'll never get the exact answer you want, so acceptance, as hard as it is, takes time but in the end really makes it easier to grieve. me and the girl like to watch just about any horror movie in the theater, so we watched Insidious Chapter II. Pretty much average; a lot of it was hilarious. There was some horribly fucking woody acting, but that's to be expected in any horror movie. Only legit creepy part of this movie was the dad smiling...holy shit he has a disturbing face. I was a big fan of the first one too, because I felt that despite its flaws, the director really used some of those classic tricks of old horror movies to get jump scares that were "legit"and built up on suspense and sound manipulation, rather than just AHH THAT WAS UNEXPECTED FUCK. More mainstream horror movies need to go back to the suspense building. Ill give it a 5/10 (the original I'd give a 7/10)
