re him reuploading tracks, look at the date for that track - says 1 year old. i've noticed in the data for the voting site the image URL's for the tracks he uploaded with images are still active, which suggests to me either soundcloud don't delete that data on deleting content (which seems odd), or the tracks are all still there, they've just been made private.

Hey all, voting site is still up - people are still logging in and voting/changing their votes almost daily which is surprising! (Went down briefly when I was in Japan a few weeks ago and I didn't notice).
I asked RDJ 4 months ago whether the compilation was still happening & whether I could share the results of the loved/not loved, as they're interestingly different from the top 30 vote, but didn't get a response (so I'll respect my original promise and not share).
What's neat is I noticed he has logged back into the system only 2 months ago (at least from the last 'logged in' date on user18081971) - I assume to look at the results.
So, that's interesting... might still be happening after all.

hey Richard
-
well, something's happening, which i've been asked not to pass on (speculate away!), and i know he looked at the data/results a few months back, but he's been fairly unresponsive on SC as of late due to I assume getting messaged by everybody and being buried in inbox notifications. so we will see - i know some stuff but am largely in the dark
-
the 'most loved' and 'can't get into' (disliked) lists are pretty interesting, but i've asked richard's permission whether i can post those considering they were intended for his eyes until the poll ended. not sure if he's even checking SC anymore, though.

the site is still up + works. log in, sort by 'votes'. i'll paste the results here in a sec
-
he sent me a message a few days ago; pretty sure the SC is over. was fun while it lasted.
-
no clue if it's been mentioned already, but the two most recent Tim & Eric Bedtime Stories are friggin' amazing.
-
so addicted to Fallout 4 at the moment
-
poll still works, the play feature won't work if the track isn't on soundcloud but that won't stop you voting on it.
won't be going anywhere, will stay up as long as it's needed. Richard mentioned 'months to years' to me when building this thing, i thought the latter was a bit of a lol, maybe not.
it'll take it down when i hear otherwise :)
-
confirmed: RDJ is MJ
-
Twilight Princess HD will support multiple control schemes.
oh wow, thank fk they're doing a HD version of Twilight Princess. that game has not aged well at all.
-
yeee. saw opn last year(?), butt end of R+7 tour.
support act was robin fox with crazy laser idm show **
and then afterwards was OPN with the crappy 3D visual art power point slide show. this was in makeshift outdoor venue with 1 tiny projector screen all the way at front of stage. needless to say, the visual side of the OPN was totally underwhelming and afterwards pretty much everyone was complaining about the visuals and saying they stunk and especially so compared to the laser show. the laser show was like this ultimate, immersive "high", and then that was followed by "look at the aesthetic on this shit looking not animated 3D blob".
the show was still amazing though. music was BEAUTIFUL and seemed very ' live ' and fluid (ala autechre??). very good ' electronic live show'. but the visuals and complete lack of immersion brought on by the visuals definitely didn't do the show any favours.
** robin fox
i dont even mind the 3d clipshow thing in the context of watching it on youtube next to the music, but in the context of a live show with little lighting (other than, sterile venue lighting), the visuals went in the direction of removing immersion??
^^ what bitroast said (probably helps i was at the same show). i know the visuals are meant to be cheesy, but they *very* actively subtracted from the experience. i went in hyped as hell for OPN, was moderately disappointed with even going until i closed my eyes. first show i've ever been to where closing my eyes meant an exponentially greater experience. really not a fan of boyce's visuals at all.
and yeah holy shit, how amazing was robin fox

appreciated, but not looking for praise! just be nice to know why it was deleted :)
i can probably host the mp3's myself on the hosting site and rejiggle things so people can still play them but no idea whether that'd be OK or not
-
second edit: and the vote site isn't going anywhere, it still works, people can still vote, and i'm still seeing several new signups / votes per day, every day, since it was launched.
-
:(
had to end at some point, I guess
-
Hmm, seems I missed that the tracks were deleted. Means the play button no longer works on the voting site.
Deeply disappointed. It is what it is, I guess. :(
edit: and in context, I'm still damned grateful that this even happened *at all*. can't complain too much about 200+ unreleased tracks and the chance to work with the man himself on something, even if only briefly.
-
Haven't seen this posted here - another dude made a neat visualisation of the votes:
The coolest part about this is I had NO idea about this until somebody else sent me the link - hooray for JSON. Have since gotten in touch and we've got plans for historical vote stuff.
-
I made a stupid thing to compare your in-game Steam playtime against your friends - http://peerpressure.us/
I wanted to know how much Fallout 4 I'd played compared to my friends - couldn't find an easy way to do it, looked easy enough to make something to do it. Ended up spending 10 hours on this instead of playing Fallout 4. Priorities.

As for the album, I've been listening to it pretty much constantly for the last week but it feels more like a pop album to me. A really good pop album, but like... it has this catchy, immediacy about it, so it gives me the same kinda feel as say, the new Chvrches album did.... which I had on loop for about 2 weeks and then got bored of, but I'm sure I'll dig it up every now and again.
have to agree. GoD is a pretty incredible album, but after blasting it for a couple of weeks after it leaked I'm not really going back to it too much; it absolutely becomes fatiguing. I became obsessed with OPN's earlier works when I discovered it and I haven't stopped listening to it regularly ever.
