To be clear, I think doing some sort of final vote now doesn't make any sense... but I have some ideas about how to approach this assuming the dump is ongoing. ... and I said I'll see what I can do over the weekend - doesn't mean I'll have a fully working voting system with all bells and whistles finished, but no better time to start! edit: pretty sure I'll get something done tho

i'm also wondering whether i can do this much simpler - perhaps just having a page that ranks all soundcloud tracks ordered by likes or play counts may be sufficient. i don't think we can sort it at soundcloud by these categories at the moment? edit: actually probably not, too many other factors come into play here given tracks have been uploaded over a few months

allright, i'll see what I can do over the weekend. if it doesn't get used or is of no value, oh well, not too bothered :) will think about the best way to do this - maybe grouping tracks for voting based on the approximate date they were uploaded makes sense, to ensure we give equal weight to any newly uploaded tracks also interested in ideas about how i'd lock down voting - i can probably make it a fairly easy click to vote thing but that's probably ripe for abuse without some sort of login system.

I can probably whip up a voting thing (with it grabbing up to date tracks from the soundcloud api) pretty easily. Y/N? (I'm being serious BTW, already built something against the SoundCloud API earlier to pull down comments for archival)

any skeptism i ever had in fl.ux was squashed when i *consistently* noticed a pattern of having turned it off for whatever reason, gone to bed, and then wondering why the fuck i couldn't get to sleep. it works. i think i've played pretend analog about 20 times today. such a great track, especially the melody that comes in at 1:30

i was going to make the comment that not knowing that all of these tracks are unique and not duplicates is pretty terrible... but then i contextualised the reality of a generalist music journalist (with other interests) wading through 429 posts here and listening to all 213 tracks and... uh, we're all completely insane, aren't we?

also all of these terrible articles rife with misinformation beautifully demonstrate why rdj probably is such a troll often during interviews. so many awful music journalists

no, account definitely deleted. my message from him now shows up as 'Deleted user' and somebody else renamed their account to 'afx deleted his account' .... that said, hmm, if one can restore a deleted account, does that mean the username is reserved for some period? if so, that'd indicate he changed his account name before deleting.

also i would be lying if i said i wasn't excited by the apparent mention of druqks era tracks being uploaded eventually... oh well!
