  1. Huh... didn't see that on the mobile bleep site or google image search. Thank you. I can bask before getting home from work now. :D
  2. By Richard's beard! Good idea! I'm gonna get an ear cleaning kit and clean them suckers out between now and the 14th.
  3. Oooh. Looks pretty. I ordered the cassette in a hurry, I didn't even see if there are pictures of the product yet. Edit: Nope. Unless I'm missing something obvious. No pics yet.

  5. Yek, you have good judgement and taste, sir. I first saw Cheetah in 1990 or 1991 when I was 4 or 5. The Great Outdoors is still one of my favourites. That girl was absolutely an instant crush. First world victory of being born in the 1980s: Best time to be a wee child. Want to have a nap? Your mother is already wearing pillows on her shoulders.
  6. Awesome! Congratulations! Keep me/us informed on the film, please.
  7. I got bored enough on one slow day at work that I memorized 150 digits of pi well enough that I can still consistantly recall them 2 weeks later.
  8. My co-workers just gave me a weird look when I heartily lol'd at that.
  9. Thanks. Good to be in chrome country, despite the shocking amount of polished knobs. *bad'um t'shhh* Chromatic jokery is on point today. *high fives Rhombix* Can't wait for the 14th!!
  10. https://youtu.be/2qVAASmsWGE?t=89 Similarly, there was also a recent program on TV where some engineers created a pressure suit (similar to a blood pressure monitor but for the whole of the limbs) for an autistic child with bad ticking, and it drastically calmed him down with noticeably less ticking. Thanks for posting that. I think I'll look into this to see if it might rid me of my insomnia that comes and goes.
  11. I apologize for the following giant wall of text. My brother was recently declared NCR (not criminally responsible) in court and is to be permanently hospitalized in a highly secured mental institution. For nearly the last 2 decades he has had the overgeneralized right to refuse any assistance or medical help for his illness. He has an extreme case of paranoid schizophrenia, enough so that the head psychiatric doctor in Canada's capital city general hospital, who had been there for decades, said that he has the worst case of mental illness he's ever seen. Even so, because he had not been caught in the act of serious criminal activity he has kept his right to tell anyone who would offer him help to "piss off". He has had no effective ability to take care of himself and has multiple times lived in the streets, eating out of garbage cans, sleeping in parking lots and so forth. That is not a pleasant way to live, as you can imagine. It also puts an incredible amount of stress on his family. When not on the streets, he spent his disability payments on alcohol and drugs as a method of self-medicating. These habits continued to destroy his mind yet further. He'd been in and out of jail for more or less minor things. He had also been in and out of hospitals as a temporary forced visit. He would fake his recovery, leave and go back to his rough habits. My family had reached out to many different places, trying to find help. For example, a way for someone to help him manage his money so he wouldn't blow his paycheck in a day or two on vices that prevented what medication he was taking to take effect. That's if it was during a time he was agreeing to take meds and wasn't having delusions about the " government's hidden agenda and experiments" that was behind the medications he was prescribed. We reached out in many ways, but due to his delusions he didn't trust the much needed help. Why would he accept such help when he 100% believes a crazy delusion? That it's actually a couple years in the future and everyone is pretending it's not because he had been shot and in a coma for a few years while people ran experiments on him. No one will admit the "truth" to him, there are cameras everywhere and people posted to monitor him and he doesn't know why, so he trusts no one. You might as well audibly ask a man in a coma to return audible consent to wake him up. When no response is given they then say: "well, we tried." This past spring, my brother's delusions had gotten severe enough that he was walking around his apartment complex with an ax, threatening to kill everyone he saw. The police arrived and he barricaded himself in his apartment. Shortly thereafter, mental health services showed up and convinced the police not to use lethal force. After 9 hours of negotiations, he came out and was taken to a hospital/jail. No one got hurt. My brother has now lost his right to refuse help and will be well taken care of. In time and with luck, I may get to speak with the brother I once knew. The brother who is not constantly paranoid, angry, suspicious and under intense stress. The brother I had as a kid who was nothing but kind, funny and generous. Last I heard, he's convinced that he was created by a Russian experiment and that our parents are actually his adoptive parents. He met with Putin and Obama who gave him a Russian passport to fulfill his purpose. He was supposed to receive further instructions from his adoptive parents, but of course, my folks are real and have no instructions because all of this in his head. So he's pissed that he not only can't fulfill his purpose, but now has enemies in his family that are hiding important information from him. Silver lining: Things can get rough in my own mind at times. I can always remember that I'm far from how bad it really can get and that pulls some weight of my mind, allowing for a quicker recovery.
  12. I have severe rapid cycling bipolar, PTSD and OCD. That along with Lyme disease and Fibromyalgia put me out of commission for over a decade of my life. I consider myself lucky to still be here. It's under good control at the moment. 0 prescriptions, too. That makes me very happy as a person who was previously over-medicated. A couple of years ago, I changed my treatment. I was tired of being comparable to a zombie. I now take a natural vitamin suppliment that was designed to balance brain chemistry. As long as I take them regularily I can continue to function very well. I have a job again and am going to finally have my license at 32 years old. Feels good to get my life in order.
  13. Mop Gun Robe Cop Derp Impact Darren Aronofsky presents - Hi
  14. I quit playing WoW early last year. A couple months ago I had whiskey and ended up pre-ordering the newest expansion pack. The next day, I recognized my mistake and continued not playing the game. Last night I had whiskey and wasted $19 Canadian dollars for a month's subscription. I played it for an hour... New personal goal: Do not drink whiskey at my computer.
  15. Finally got myself to the bleep site and pre-ordered the cassette. :D I've managed to not listened to the leak. It's apparently not a good bitrate anyways, eh?
  16. Sry about your roomate - that's laaaaame! Sony MDR7510 Pro (yes I fanboid the shit out of my purchasing here after AFX mentioned them in that interview). I've used Sennheiser HD580 pro, and Grado Sr60's with larger earpads. Tested also some extremely higher end Grado's (can't remember which) but didn't have the $ to shell out plus I find the bass response even on higher end Grado's lacking. Here's my quick take: 3. MDR7510's - here's the deal: Audiophiles that I've spoken to have scoffed that Sony isn't technically in the business of audiophile equiment, and these are not the highest quality phones you can buy. But, as compared to the headphones above, these have been completely solid in terms of mixing - in the sense that whatever I mix to sound the way I want on these headphones, it has translated well to any other system. I.e., I used to mix on grado's, then go to play in my car and things sounded off . . . or switched to my (now sadly gone) Vandersteen's and levels seemed off, even from what i heard in the car. Same things w/ Sennheiser's etc. I don't know why, and this is probably a matter of also getting better at eq'ing and such, but these things just work. I can mix on these and be pretty much assured that if I like what I hear in the earpieces, I will like what I hear when it's blasting out of anywhere else, and it will stay pretty much consistent across systems in terms of sound. One caveat is that, though the freq response goes down to something fairly low, there does seem to be a dropoff in the low end that might be worth keeping an eye on if your music is exceptionally bass heavy. my 2 dollars The sound is extremely clear and especially crisp all through the low-mids to the highs. I also find the low end is lacking just a bit, but I generally just mix the bass with my monitors instead. I prefer to mix really only low bass sounds on speakers anyways so I can get the right feeling in my chest as well as my ears. I think a huge plus for the MDR7510 Pro's are that it has exactly the same level of clarity through those low-mids all the way to the highs. Where as many "better" headphones have better quality sound but some sweet spots in the frequency spectrum end up sounding even crispier. The crispiness balance is important. Crisp enough the whole way through > very crisp and even crispier in some spots. Another reason I think I'll be sticking with the MDR7510 for the time being. My 2 cents to add to your 2 dollars.
  17. Sony MDR7510 Pro. If they come recommended by RDJ as awesome budget headphones, that's good enough for me. At some point down the road I want to shell out for a high budget pair. Until then, I will do 0 research on high budget headphones as I'm both happy with the ones I have and am also currently poor because my roommate is giving me one month's notice that he's moving out.
  18. :( Once I get it working, I definitely want to test out everything you just mentioned though.
  19. You should be sitting in full lotus position anyway to release all the IDMs from your chakras. It's more room than it looks, but I do need to stretch my legs often. The R2R is a Sony TC-630 D, actually. I haven't been able to use it just yet as I don't have a power cable for it. It was given to me by a local music store along with another Sony R2R that doesn't work, but might just need a quick repair. I have an electrician/radio technician friend who might be able to help me fix it up and find a cable for the other. He's in his 80s, so I've been reluctant to bug him about it lately. Edit: I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure the heads are just metal on it.
  20. Thanks. It's fantastic for that, ya. I've been trying to be as creative with it as I can as well. I'm getting some good FX out of screwing around with the machine and the tape itself. You'll notice there is no mask for the tape bay. It came like that, but it allows me to easily mess with the tape while it's recording for some cool effects. For example, physically moving the whole tape around a bit in sync with the bpm allows for controlled tape drops. Lightly placing my fingers on the motors gives a slight warble to the sample, instantly aging the sound without damaging the actual tape. Stuff like that.
  21. holy crap. apologies for the size of the pics
  22. Pointless thought: I sometimes miss the Best Butts thread on WATMM.
  23. Did you head back to your cabin yet? EDIT: I just noticed acid1's post. And ya, go back home and take a nap in your super comfy looking bed. I thought the game was fanastic, but ya, was looking for more of a grand climax at the end. I shall say no more than I think a grand climax will still come, just not on the version we have now. I just have to beat the Valkyrie Queen and finish the last few ravens off and I'll have the platinum trophy. What a blast the game is. Really well done.
  24. I'm definitely still using and loving my Sony MDR 7506 Pros. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
  25. Absolutely. I love the sound cassettes have. Most likely because I grew up listening to all of my favourite music on them. I have: Some crappy Sony tape deck/stereo/cd player Tascam Porta One 4 Track Cassette Recorder Sony TC-WA8ES - It was given to me for free by a friend and I really don't know what I have here. I should figure it out and start using it as my friend said he bought it in the $900 range brand new in the 90s. My old Jutan Walky Music JWS 565B portable stereo cassette player (It doesn't send sound out of the headphone jack though)
