  1. This is a bit of a weird one and I’m still trying to digest it, but the first track just bores me to tears. Would be happy if I never heard a minor key generative synth patch in my life again lol. Other tracks are a lot more interesting, but I’m still on the fence with the rap track. Overall kind of a disappointment given his past few albums and killer Pendant releases

  2. Yo Vol 4 is out and it’s amazing! Hard to say yet where it fits in my ranking of the other 3 albums, but on first few listens I definitely like it more than Vol 3 and maybe even Vol 1. Some really nice deep cuts, more melodic in places, but still has some great droney ambience (last 2 tracks). Need to cop the vinyl now!!

  3. This album is surprisingly good, I think the album cover does it a disservice as I was expecting a lot of fun, silly Ceephax tracks. This feels like some of the most mature, developed, emotive (and often melancholy) stuff he’s ever done. Bravo!

  4. I have a hunch that it wasn't Villeneuve's call to get rid of Johansson. Music was probably the worst thing about this film, aping Vangelis but with none of the musicality.

I enjoyed the film and it is visually astounding, also loved the sound design (aside from music). But it fell a bit short because there wasn't enough of it doing it's own thing instead of quoting/retreading scenes and beats from the original. The villains were not nearly as compelling either (and Jared Leto's character sucked).

But still I find myself wanting to see it again!

  5. i don't really like the first movie at all. sushi. cold fish. i think it's a very poor film, albeit with good production design

That's fair, I agree it's emotionally cold and often more style than substance. But I still love it all the same.

I guess I'm hopeful that the new one will be trying new things and will not just be some kind of retread.

  6. As usual all I see here are people adamantly predisposed to hating a film before it's even out yet because of the untouchable status of the original film. I was always going to give this new Blade Runner the benefit of the doubt because the director has an excellent track record. Let's see for ourselves shall we?

  7. As goofy as it sounds, this seems like a great way to reorient the label and announce a lot of exciting stuff. And judging by how fast the new BOAND vinyl sold out, the Reissues period is probably gonna rake in some serious dough. Happy to see DC continue to do well!

  8. I'm loving the new season, completely cementing that this my fave tv show of all time. If you want that classic Twin Peaks nostalgia please go and watch the original 2 seasons. I'm just happy Lynch can continue to push forward with new ideas, and leave me completely dumbfounded as to what to expect. I understand it's not for everyone, but for those who it resonates with better, it's an absolute treasure!

  9. It is definitely coherent, plot-wise, so far. More so than some of his films like Lost Highway and Inland Empire. I don't feel anywhere as lost as I did with those films on my first viewing. It all makes a strange sort of sense and logically follows on from the weirder stuff in the original series.

This new season is everything I didn't know I wanted and more, I love it so much!!
