    Oversteps was released digitally 23rd February by looking at my emails. The physical release was set as 22nd March. So correct, almost an exact month early.

    However, both albums were leaked before the digital download was brought forward, so I'm not sure if Warp/Bleep would give out the download before the physical release if Exai doesn't leak... IF

    have you ever tried... to create a tempo synced click-track sample, e.g. a few 32th steps with a GND-IM -> RAM record -> copy to ROM,

    load the sample into a ROM machine, route this machine to an individual output, plug that output into one of the inputs, then set up an input trigger? you can do this with several ROM machines, and any 2 machines at a time can be triggered by the 2 inputs via the ROM samples. With this setup, you can play & tweak triplet grooves, other polyrhythms, flams, rolls, you name it, only by tweaking the pitch parameter of the sample. Then there's LFOs & retrig..

    I bought a new FM synth,

    Been using it ever since

    Used a few algorithms,

    And 7/4 rhythms

    Changing our sound was a risk

    BTW, it did occur to me whether "new album" can really be taken as an LP of new material coming out?

     

    i.e. could it actually mean boxed set of LPs as Warp have done with the EPs (meh and, if the artwork's anything like the EP set, we should know in a few days time) or could it mean a boxed set of live recordings (YES PLEASE) or whatever?

     

    Not to say that I don't think a NEW album is coming, I think it is, but there's always a possibility we're being lead down the garden path.

    What do Autechre mean ? What are they ? All of the above – it could be. Something else ? Undeniably. There is, fantastically, no end to wondering.

    a shame, because paul morley is generally a fine journalist.

    edit: was also a musician, was in the art of noise iirc

    Totally, he can be the biggest prick at times but he's usually alright. He himself would probably argue his role as a musician in The Art of Noise though.
