I received my ARC CDs and the Intrusion reissue a few days ago. Worth the wait. They sound gravy. The sound library is pretty cool. I started putting some tracks together not too long ago. I'm kinda destroying the original material.

While it's a great handheld recorder, the H4N's mic pre-amps are not as good as some of the more recent handheld recorders with XLR inputs. To me, there's a reason why it's cheaper. Something to take into consideration with these handheld recorders is that if the source isn't that loud, you're gonna have to crank up the gain, which will in turn, bring up the noise floor significantly. Hoping the next round of shipments arrive in the next week. I got the same 5 CDs. Steven threw in the live excursions album as a bonus!

Neither did Manuel Gottsching. In regards to composers like Stockhausen and Xenakis: "...but I didn't find any real access to this music, it was too much brain and not enough body. For me music has to make an atmosphere somehow. You don't have to understand it, just listen to it, it has to give you something. I always miss this in that very academic, mathematical style." I only like a few of Actress' tunes, but I really respect this quote from that Fact interview, right above that Autechre bit: "I was being taught about Xenakis, and it went right over my head. What, he made stupid noises out of cymbals? Put something else on. It didn’t interest me, and it didn’t interest me because all I heard was [makes stupid noise]. No, I wanna hear form, I wanna hear structure, I wanna hear elasticity, and I wanna hear meaning."

Ended up getting a notification for dimensional space. Deepchord Presents Echospace (or just Echospace in some instances) is a collab between Rod and Steven. From what I've read, Cv313 is an alias of Steven's that's kind of like Monolake, where it's open to collaboration. Rod has had a hand in a few of the releases under that name I think.

Did anyone else get shipping confirmations from Bandcamp? I got ones for live at primary, altering illusions, and in the midst of something beautiful, though dimensional space was missing. Steven's latest update on Facebook doesn't mention dimensional space as having a later ship date.

Yeah I guess I'd rather have some synth overdubs or something like that, instead of the vocals up front. I find that a lot of the time, the vocals in songs/pieces aren't nearly as good as everything else going on, and it takes me out of the track. I definitely appreciate vocals, but they have to be done a certain way. Anyways, thinking of picking up that new 2xCD version of Seduction of Silence. For whatever reason, I had decided that I wasn't very into the album when I initially heard it. Digging it now though. Enticed by the second disc.

I find them to be very invasive and new age sounding, even the prominent vocals on white clouds. Background vocals are cool I guess but I feel like the ones that take center stage are overbearing. They don't seem necessary.

Yeah the dude needs to give his vocal samples a break, or better yet, stop using them in the first place.

Man… maybe we'll get this stuff by March? "cv313 "live @ primary" echospace [detroit] live 02 and cv313 "live excursions" (DEMF 2001 - Glasscity Showcase) echospace [detroit] live 03 and also the double CD/DVD "echoes in space" sound library all in on Friday this week, packages are all ready, customs forms in order. Due to the fact the plant was giving me such a hard time replacing the initial order and or refunding any money as of yet, I had to have them done at a different pressing plant. Instead of using the generic black cases w/stickers (and to save time on packaging) I had them replicated in full color matte finished sleeves, cost a small fortune but I think everyone will be happier, they look really nice. Thanks for everything."
