    Melbourne 23

Been to all 3 Melbourne gigs and this one was a monster
  2. its a mushroom album. the acid experience sounds nice too! i'm loving this one so much... 1.17 takes me for a journey and .57 just sounds like liquid euphoria. cheers lads
  3. I've been getting into some of FSOL archives recently and there were a couple of tracks that kind of reminded me of some Tri Rep/Garbage/Gescomish stuff. The harmony that gets going about 30seconds in sounds like the one from latter part of Garbagemx36 and perhaps Silverside. And this track sounds like Gescom.... apart from that really massive jolting FSOL sound ha! And they have a track that sounds like it could of been cut from Quaristice, but i can't find it on the tube. But ultimately i think that Autechre have a very acquired sound, and for something to sound like them would either be a fluke, or a tribute from a fan. Its easy to find earlier work that sounds like Acid House and compare it to AFX or whoever... some of those Laxair remixes are hard acid, but anything LP5 and after is Ae pioneering their own sound with no one else to pass the AKG C 1000 to. theory of singularity.
  4. Autechrmx74 Autechrmx80 Autechrmx44 its all garbage anyway
  5. LP5 style? That would look sweet. I managed to track down a few more FLACs tonight, almost complete. Curious for opinions, should Gescom remixes be included? Yeah Gescom stuff like 'Viral Rival rmx' should not be left out IMO. that track is pure magic
  6. Unlocking Draft will truly be a Divine Moment of Truth. Go in peace. The key to unlocking Draft is to play Surripere at gut punching volume, literally twice as loud as you feel you should. In fact the whole album is much better insanely loud. The key to unlocking Draft was Quaristice! in fact i'm finding, after revisiting LP5 and EP7, and getting more familiar with Gescom and their vast array of remix's, i'm finding that i'm very accustomed to their sound now. Everything hits and i can enjoy it right off the bat. As for Quaristice, well i wouldn't put it at the top of the pile, but to say its weaker than any other album is a tad harsh IMO. As with most of their catalogue, it is quite timeless music. I think an album like this will defiantly stand the test of time. It is very sonically impressive no doubt, but it's also got a very heavy atmosphere, almost like a singular purpose of alienation thats quite unrelenting. I love that concept, and it has emotion that can change from serious to playful in an instant. It's not a subtle album, yet contains a lot of subtlety.... I know that doesn’t make any sense, but hey! As for loudness, yeah i'm a bit overzealous when it comes to the volume. if its a choice between volume and being considerate.... Volume wins hands down. A friend of mine, who i've slowly gotten him into Ae has a recording studio and he was saying that their sound design is the most impressive and is a good reference for his bigfoot speakers.
  7. Sorry for the late reaction, but this was very well written, mate. They've been so consistently brilliant too. Quality plus quantity every time. I'm blasting Quaristice every chance i get these last few weeks. Only took 5 years to click for me, or rather 'i clicked' for Quaristice. It may just be their tightest sounding album in terms of atmosphere, which i feel has a profound alienating ambiance about it.... Seems like the bass is quite a bit more full than Untilted, while having less reverb than Oversteps but still quite a bit. So yeah, i obviously would rank this quite high all of a sudden. Autechre's music rewards patience in a delightful way indeed
  8. Funny that 6 years ago this was my first AE experience via randomly buying a copy whilst looking for AFX. my first thought was 'i can't see myself ever liking these guys' I finally 'get this album' and only draft is left now. It all makes prefect sense now
  9. Really really old? There's nothing better than ancient tekker
  10. Ahh the song that got me into BoC and subsequently AFX/AE and this forum. I had a mix that was poorly put together of random BoC that i had downloaded. there were crickets buzzing at the end of the version i had on the mix, but otherwise still sounds as big as it does to me now. Those big harmonizing synths that play before the beat kicks in always sounded so dark and sinister, and i remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up every time. I love the way they slowly morph into a more empathic tone.... I used to play tenor sax and the melody always reminded me of some rich sounding lush ;) as fuck electronic saxamophone I gave that mix cd to a friend and the following week he owns a copy of MHTRTC which quickly prompted me to buy it and the rest is history. Oh and the intro is haunting and i remeber thinking it was interesting and strange, but wasn't sure if i liked it or not and that i'd never heard anything quite like it before. Defiantly one of their most accessible tracks, but also one of their best.
  11. Dunno, its too hard but ill do it on a whim. 3 tracks from each Oversteps (kryLon, O=0, Yuop) Untilted (Ipacial Section, Augmatic Disport and Sublimit) Exai (vekos, nodezsh, tuinorizn) LP5 (Vose In, Under BOAC and rae) Confield (Lentic Catachresis, pen expers, cfern) Amber (Slip, nine and piezo) Tri Repetae (Rsdio, Rotar, Clipper) Incanabula (444, windwind and Lowride) Draft (6IE.CR, VL AL 5, Reniform Puls) Chiastic Slide (Cichli, Recury, Cipater) Quaristice (Alyibzz, parallel suns, simmm) I still enjoy amber tri and inc, but Draft and Chiastic are probably deserving to go above them. All their albums are great to very good... even still finding a lot on Quaristice that i'm enjoying. I still think they nailed Oversteps, don't find a fault with its presentation and don't even mind known(1).
  12. eh this is the belgium devil beer you mean i think fuck satan beer Ironically that beer is poured in a tulip Duvel glass with it's back turned. Chimay Bleue is better than Duval..... But But Nothing beats French (Boards of) Canadian Ales
  13. yet another devilish Belgium ale, Devil. New Autechre just rolles of the tongue. Something Exai(ish) in the form(at) of Garbage..... i'll drink to that
  14. Oversteps was perhaps the most accessible right off the bat, but also took 100s of listens to work out my favorite tracks. Exai is great but finding it harder to take in, and feel it slowly opening up. I know deep down i'll like it a lot more as a whole with time, although i haven't thrashed it as much as i did with Oversteps initially. my general frame of mind was different in 2010
  15. there's no doubt. I was only referring to my first listen which was a big deal because it had been built up and planned that i was going to buy it on the 10th and listen to it at a friends recording studio (ironically called Sunshine Recorder) non sober.
  16. Tomorrow's Harvest and a tryptamine synergize into a magical experience you don't forget. I got crazy deja vu from Telepath and jarred me out of the trance i was in from the start. Cold earth - Take off... Gemini + Reach for the dead - thinking it's my all time fav Boc opener. Drums and sample programing are awesome, and so is the buildup to it. Telepath + Cold Earth - was teleported straight to MHTRTC and Olson + Pete standing alone type deja vu Jacquard Causeway - synthesizers gently weep Sick times - you're truly welcome Come to Dust - Strong, big, moving and beautiful Telepath's like a mash up of Gyroscope and Geogaddi but the synth reminds me of Olson ver3 especially + Heard through Telegraph lines a bit.
  17. So i hadden't been here for a while n i see this thread n get a hard on. What i would like to hear in a new AWEtechre album hmmmm, well I've been around here enough to know that Oversteps n Move of Ten had initially been priased only to be slowly downscalled as being labeld as not as good as Untilted etc etc, but they're progressive so i'd be suprised if it's anything like O and Mof10. As much as i think that Oversteps is the shit, i would like to hear something akin to the minimal/ambiant feel of tracks like Draun Q, Nine and even stuff like Are y are we.... Some of there melodies just really do it for me and to here something like Vose In and really not "getting' the melody due to lack of patience or whatever it was would be something to really behold as i'm not AE naive like i was when i was first getting used to thier....them and understanding what they're all about. They're so adept with thier beats, thier programing of beats on Untilted blows me away and Ipacial Section is like a better version of Afx's Saint Michaels mount... not that it's a comp for me between the 2 artists but i'd gotten into AFX first and stuggled with Ae for a little while initally (I'm still getting into Ae after 5 years and they're my fav artists of all time). So the Melodies in Untilted and Confield might not be so instantly gratifying for me and seem almost hidden by the powerful beats, they are what i love most about AE, its the patience to "get them" that counts. Stuff like Altibzz is classical music and i envision a rich symphony upon hearing it... warm and lush, where as the first time i played it i remember thinkinking it sounded rather cold and alienating. A track like LCC where i don't much care for the first half but i'll listen to it coz i know whats comming. I accidently listened to minidisc in it's entiraty because i was incompasitated due to taking too much mushrooms(damn battiers razies, me no scales) and i loved it but haven't had the patience to listen to it since, but it was perfect for that moment while in a vegative state on the couch too far gone to even think about what music i wanted to listen to.... all i needed to know was that i couldn't go wrong with AE, even if i had neglected minidisc for so long. so at the end of the day i would like to hear Au tec h re. PS... at the start of the year i was looking here on the boards and there were prostpects for BoC having something out this year as well as AFX, the best thing about being an AE fan is that their so productive and THEY JUSt DON'T Give A FCUK.... just hope Afx gets over his ex and hope BoC come back out of thier shell(yes yes they're apparantly doing stuff, but no holding my breath). Sorry 4 the long post but i love this board, apart from a few kids that can't take things seriously and resort to talking about sexuality as a way to feel superior or just being downright rude and trolling... last time i started a thread and all i got was a shiteload of muppetry... Be nice next time and i'll come here more often sorry for any spelling mistakes i've no spellcheck and can't spell to well and most importantly i've had a few scoth and dry's
  18. Yeah i have to agree, the whole album has elements in every track that make it a unified whole... i think known(1) is awesome personally, and for me it doesn't stand out of place the most on the album. I've found a lot of similarity of that of a Floyd album... the first time i heard that huge deep bass line on ilanders, it reminded me of The Wall and in particular "the thin ice" similar bass line. i've never, ever related AE to Floyd.... Oversteps is a welcomed delight, and the Floyedness i feel on the album is an added bonus for me as i grew up with Floyd, and in essence, they have led me in the path i'm at today... progressive electronic music
