  1.

Finally got around to launching NMS, but after the title appears it just an infinite space warp screen but nothing happens when I press anything. This is after the patch they just released too.

I wonder if I'm not doing something correctly, or HG needs to work on yet another patch. I'd hate to see my scratch go to waste.

You need to hold down the button on that white screen.

No white screen appears tho. I'm playing on PC. The title appears briefly on screen and then fades, and just gets that never-ending space travel screen. Still unresponsive when I hold any mouse or keyboard button.

EDIT: I was just impatient. Had to wait about three minutes for the white screen to appear. Looks like I started off on an extreme heat planet right off the bat. Have to head to work right now though, will play around with it more later. Cheers.

Nice! Yeah, the initial loading screen took quite a while for me too (on PS4 though). Now it's only around half a minute or so whenever I boot it up.

  3. 20 hours or so into NMS and still loving it. The game becomes even more enjoyable the more inventory slots you unlock and the risk/reward system with various hostile Sentinel planets is super cool. I'm RICH at the moment!

It's still totally a niche game so I guess the mixed opinions is understandable enough. But I also feel like I'm basically right in the middle of that niche so this is the closest I've ever been to playing my dream game.

  4. I thought Hello Games made it clear a while back that NMS wasn't going to have multiplayer to begin with. It's not multiplayer in the traditional sense. They had already mentioned that players have a very slim chance of actually crossing paths in the NMS universe. They made it obvious that there wouldn't be any sort of co-op or team play.

Sean Murray probably just looked down and shook his head as soon as he got wind of the faux-MP deceit accusations.

This was tweeted on the 8th:

Also, the back of the box says "1 Player", the PlayStation Network page says "1 Player", the Steam page says "Single Player".

People for some reason have decided to take interview quotes from weeks/months ago and weigh them higher than any of the above. Because outrage is fun. And doing basic research is hard. I guess. Knowing the internet though, all this silliness will be over in a week. If you like space stuff and exploring space stuff, it's a very enjoyable game. If you don't, it's probably not for you. That's basically it.

Speaking of which, I found a planet with absolutely no plants or life on it today and it was incredible. Cooler than it sounds.

  5. I am not thinking procedurally generated worlds in No Mans Sky will generate content which can be interesting enough to justify the price for me. I'm not enthusiastic about it. Will wait until on heavy sale.

That's kind of where I'm at too. In interviews with the developers they keep mentioning how wild things get towards the middle of the galaxy, but everything we've seen so far, excluding the occasional floating island, has been fairly typical looking. It could still be good and I don't mind them not spoiling everything about the game in marketing, but the secrecy has gotten a little old at this point.
