  1. Really like this. Obviously (intentionally?) derivative of KLF's "Chill Out", or perhaps a wilful misinterpretation; here, "chill" becomes "hypothermia"
  2. Surgeon put this mix up about an hour ago Reckon this is at least 80% non-42TF
  3. Got my copy out for a listen and just noticed these - more a mini ae-autobiography than about humanoid.. great read! Turns out I went to the same college and did the exact same course as sean! 4 years later though, by which time I was pulling apart and trying to understand ae tracks in the same way he was with electro and acid imports from the states ? the library (cds section) there was where I discovered parmegiani and other INA-GRM artists - remember thinking "this is what autechre will sound like before too long".... ?
  4. for me it's about transcending the origins (i.e. a bunch of machines, devices) of the music to present something greater than the sum of the parts; something that has a "persona" and captures and communicates an extra, human/spiritual dimension that exists beyond and can not be explained by the equipment used a "good" artist (many) might achive that once, or sporadically a "great" artist (g.com etc) does it consistently, for a whole album or sustained period of time a "genius" (aphex?) does all that, while also being strikingly original, without any obvious or dominating precedent hope that's not too pretentious, hah

  7. I thought everyone knew it was QUAsimoto, RakIm and juST ICE
  8. Usually it's the lack of a recognisable human presence (i.e. voice) as the centrepiece of the music that makes the music difficult to absorb If there is an appreciation for classical, jazz, hip-hop, even prog, then it's a million times easier But rockers/punx are a tough nut to crack. No surprise that ATR goes down well Some good suggestions already, I would probably add early Numan/Tubeway Army, 80s synthpop/rock, Depeche might be a good one Generally, go back in the timeline, easier to cross a stream than an ocean
  9. Ha, totally forgot about this! There's a (vinyl) promo for sale on Discogs now, including the hair baggie - 921 of your earth pounds, top investment watta deal
  10. 808 State also released ex:el, didn't Orbital's first album come out then as well? Nah, 1981
  11. Boomfff! Ordered in a flash Also listening to sT8818r original mix for the first time, quite a barnstormer eh Trivia - Autechre's A664 mix is named after the A-road connecting Manchester to Rochdale ?
  12. i'm using musicbee, very happy with it
  13. umm.. no idea really.. but a neural network, with a "model" trained on a library of music in similar style, spectrally constructs musical phrasing using an original song as a starting point, making it up as it goes along its merry way into the twilight zone look what it did to the bee gees

been waiting for some openAI clips to come through that aren't beatles/elvis/nirvana/whathaveyou i find these mulchy dreamworld excursions quite fascinating, seems to work quite well on electronics too, half of them seem to turn into plaid in a foggy graveyard lol sorry if it was already posted!
  15. 21. Billie Holiday "Strange Fruit" 20. Robyn "Dancing On My Own" If I didn't have a donor card, I'd stick a live hand grenade up my arse and call it a day
  16. 1990, compilation only (aside from a legendary test press)
