Yeh was gonna mention the Syro "M" tracks not coming to proper release for years (9 at most) after being played - Manchester, Metz, Minehead Lets hope there's less time BUT... when those tracks did finally appear, after years of being lauded ... what a time to be alive

So any thoughts on the first 6 sets as a whole? Heres mine after a few listens each Of course i love them all but to me Sonar is the most insane/trippiest Syd gets a special mention for being the first and has the gorgeous new releases - which sound so good in a live setting Best Kept/Garden - solid and stabel sets Sonar - LET GET nuts Italy - Keeps the insanity Dour - winds it down a little but still quality - nice to see paradox back A great selection of old/new released tracks, unreleased stuff, not sure he has much live-noodles but I maybe wrong? General great pacing and spaces to breath before the madness. He's not one for obvious drops but more "moments" of escalation. Loved all the openings - he's a master of this - usually noise/beatless avanstgardness Not sure he had many location-specific tracks/local artists in the selects - let me know if he did Endings crazy as always but Dour was the least crazy special mention for Mount St Micheal!

Has he ever DJ'd/played "Tamphex" in a set? In fairness he should at the Flow Festival Helsinki 2017 - given he often plays a location-themed track

Dude.. I studies Applied Physics in DCU 91-96. AND i was at that Olympia Aphex set.. i was well out of it but i have a memory of a bearded dancer and RDJ was off stage? I thionk he played some SAW2 stuff tooI asked umack about it once but got no details .. he said only it was a "proper rave" Last coincidence.. I know Duncs brother and stayed with him in oz back in 2003. Good times!

@diatoms hey fill us in on your phase 1 mini aphex tour? Where you stayed, how you got there, people you met, the vibes between places etc? Be cool to get a sense of it all

The 2nd funnel set, was the first one i was meant to see them but in queuing up my best mate swayed too much as we tried to drunkenly hold it together..... and the bouncers said... "nah" Managed to see them 2 years later though!

Flashback to Day for Night vinyl: @WaxenPith - my roomy for the wknd - messages from the venue as I queue for tickets "they got freaking exclusive afx vinyl" "Can you get me one??" I say I get in, can't find WakenPath nor rave with him, then meet loads of other wattmers, see copies being used as umbrellas, rage to Aphex first show in years, and eventually reconnect with waxenpath at the hotel for a bathroom rave and hes got my lovely Houston wax. LEGEND! Flashback to Field Day vinyl: I get to the venue ahead of fellow-travellers as rumours have spread theres an exclusive vinyl at warp merch in venue. I arrive and sure enough there's one-per-person records for sale. You get a hand stamp to show you got one already. I get mine but have orders to get 2 more for my mate queuing but also for David freaking Firth who we're meeting inside! So I take off my glasses, put on a hat, take off my hoody and with my cunning disguise and having rubbed off my stamp I get wax #2. Theyre wise to me now - theres about 3 warp merch agents there.. so I ask a couple walking by .. who never heard of Aphex Twin .. to please get me a vinyl (im sort of hiding behind a tree now and I have also 2 aphex plastic carriers with me). They oblige and I get wax number 3. to be honest I do feel bad about it but i know theyre going to mega-fans so all good. We have to carry our vinyl all through the fest and David Firth is well pleased with his surprise gift. at one point i check the grooves and realsie its bloody album of 11 tracks. what a day!
