I had most of the records in the the binder sleeves but inside the stickered thinner plastic sleeves (which I also still have) the individual records were sold in, but I figured out quite early that plastic will degrade the vinyl, and transferred them to paper inner sleeves inside the plastic ones in the binder. They have a bit of cloudiness to them, but no added surface noise or sound degradation. Like I wrote before I've been thinking about selling (because I don't really care about the music that much, and I have the extended digital collection as WAVs), but I have no idea whatsoever what a decent but not extortionate price would be (for the binder and a full set of 12 records). I've never sold any records except inadvertently obtained duplicates, so I wouldn't be too optimistic about letting it go. But you can always try.

Maybe I got lucky. But so far the plastic sticker sleeves I kept them in did not affect my records. The plastic of the binder for sure degraded the vinyl.

Edit.. also the plastic sleeves of The Caustic Window album destroyed my records

  2. Bought a Friday pass for the Rewire Festival to see Autechre. But I also had to buy an additional PLUS ticket of 5 euro's. I tried, but failed the first batch was sold out. Contacted the rewire ticket service (which was not easy to get the right person to answer my question 'when will be the 2nd batch available?'

I would get an email confirmation when the 2nd batch will be available. In the meantime checkin for weeks the site. And saw two changes occur. First it stated 2nd batch not for sale yet. Second statement changed to 'venue unknown'. And now I see 'at this moment not for sale'

    It drives me nuts.

Interesting to see PJH mentioned on watmm lol... I was a huge fan long ago but she lost me with White Chalk. Was this any good? Stretches between albums seem to get longer and longer, last time I checked in it seemed she was more interested in writing/reading poetry than doing music anymore.

I did not like White Chalk at first. But somehow in time it clicked with me. Let England Shake is my favourite.

...not having the file at hand to make the comparison, I wonder if the first Bergen (the one put online to repair technical problems during the show) is identical to the one put up for sale, or if it has some differences (... the mastering?)

It was the Helsinki set. I listen to this version a lot (the one for sale). And I do think it is mastered differently than the previous released Helsinki set. I cannot compare because I tossed away that version the day that the sets were available for sale on their site. Maybe my mind is just playing tricks on me.

Okay, coming up is the mp3 of my Sydney room recording. I'm using WeTransfer for now (link expires in 7 days from now) just to get it to you. I'll sort out WAV/FLAC and/or archive.org in next few days. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am curious if the WAV will sound better. Already happy with the mp3. Playing it a lot. Thanks for the recording. It really sounds good.

if witchcraft in the forest it is, I suppose and hope it is of this kind and not of this
...but I refrain from verifying, at least until after the Venice date, that it's like, as a child, knowing where a christmas present is hidden and not unwrapping it

I must say I have seen the 'this' movie and really liked it. Haven't seen the 'this kind' one.. yet

yeah the quality is really decent for a live recording. the performance is also really epic. sounds like they are doing some witchcraft in a magical forest

Yes! spot on! witchcraft in a magical forest.

yeah, amazing set. falls somewhere right in the middle of 14's full frontal dance assault and 16's psychedelia imo.

not gonna rank these (yet...), but yeah, somehow the later versions (bergen/turin) seem a tad more restrained, which actually helps in terms of dynamics. like, i think, around helsinki they start turning "pads" completely off when that clanky part comes in around the 40 min mark, just to let them resurface slowly, great dramatic effect.

and yo, don't even get me started on the b side, that final droney hip hop part is quite something, innit? the sound of determination.

That b set is insane good.

Yeah, this is up there with Hemsby & Glasgow/Art School (the two best of that extended Until / Quar era that I'm aware of - does anyone have any other high quality favorites?) - two of my all-time favorite "records" for listening to on long highway drives.

This is my favourite recording of 2001:
