  1. It's a high dissapointment when something that looks so beautiful and stunning in its shots is rendered a mess by shoddy acting/plot holes that are left for marketing reasons (I guess my main qualm is bad writing that I would've expected to be chucked in the bin during the actual production process..... didn't quite think it through right imo. Had a nice idea to go on which had real potential but just didn't deliver for me..) Bad character arcs/no real tension throughout whatsoever... considering half the stuff that was on the screen I was amazed at how much there was a lack of connection to the actual characters/events..... I won't spoil it for others yet to see it, let folks make their own minds up about it of course :) it does *look stunning, gorgeous shots...... major points lost, director lost in how nice things look himself and completely overlooks the important building blocks of what makes a film work.... Shame, it had real potential as well. Could have been truly awesome but the ball was dropped hardcore in my eyes..... :( PS: maybe an extended cut that actually attempts to sort some plot holes out might go some way to take away the slight sour taste... I'm not holding my breath though. I guess that's the price one pays for getting all the top end equipment/crew to make something *LOOK really nice. Or maybe Ridley Scott really has lost his spark on what makes films work. Looking back at the likes of Blade Runner, it's amazing because the character arc is fairly strong along with a world/environment that is entirely believable, and the score obviously is a winner. Intentionally avoided spoilers for this film/went in with mild expectations of "this might actually be a really good film", came out miffed. Oh well, not the end of the world, life goes on etc etc.

to be clear... around which time? 1992 or HAB era? 1992 - it was a show where Paul Nicholson (dancer/designer of the Aphex Twin logo and font) performed as well... I can't recall off the top of my head the name of the show at the moment, though. pretty sure this is very wrong Err Yes I reccall the last Gabbro rod flac in my possession to be labelled 95 or 97 on the date...... lol your ears know it to be true, he wasn't doing this shit with the drums that early on ;) Vibert won him over and had a real influence/hand in his drumage I would argue (I think he mentioned in some interview way back saying he didn't take Jungle very seriously, but Viberts Amen Andrews series made him look at it in a completely different light or something)

I'm really digging this supposed Afx remix that isn't properly released or mentioned anywhere else on the internet LMAO **links removed I'm also enjoying this supposed Mike and Rich tune that sounds fairly reasonable as well lol **Links removed forgot that's against the rules here, don't want to get banned for posting potentially leaked Afx tunes. check the unreleased tracks/remixes page on the blog ;) very nice find this wee website!

  5. loved that one ever since I heard it on Rephlex Radio ^_^ http://soundcloud.com/gearoidof/rephlex-radio, radio mix that schooled me in rephlex when I was in school many many years ago.... http://soundcloud.com/daveheadcleaner/bcbinterview (interview with Headcleaner! :D)
  6. currently getting my mind blown by the brilliance of Pierre Bastien....... his machines are astounding! http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2010/oct/18/pierre-bastien-interview Guardian interview :)
  7. " Does anyone actually own this release? The one called 100% that consists of mailbox recordings. Anyone here manage to acquire all of the Universal Indicator releases? " I'd love to know answers to the first 2 on that list :P I have the digitals of that 100% thing, its just loads of different people who called into some dating agency thing, quite amusing. Great sample material plundering possibilities :P As for the Universal Indicator series, they're usually quite hard to track down. Green, Yellow, Red, Blue and Ultraviolet (which was apparently just Mike Dred solo). Also, answers to PP Roy would also be interesting :)

  9. I played a show a while back where all of the bands played along to videos they had created or were mashing up with their music. One of the bands did some crazy trippy ambient scoring for this. Nearly lost my mind. hahahah nice one!
  10. Yeah so I gave that one a skim and it wasn't really my cup of tea. Tldr: why so much heated emotions up in this place? mountains out of molehills people, since when did music become some mad competition of people shitting/pissing all over each other to "become the best" etc? You all need a good rave and some chill time quite frankly It's like a roomful of people all talking about their psychedelic experiences and then getting beefed when someone else finds something more potent or more enjoyable for them PS: the Xanopticon track Techdiff posted was pretty dope, I just felt it lingered on far too long in intensity and that it should've ended earlier/carried on a bit too long (but that's just me, I'm sure others think its the perfect amount of time etc). PPS: Personally I'm looking forward to the next Rephlex releases down the line ;) (amongst other things of course.... just so much music to hear and music to be made its just D: :D!)
  11. If theres anyone that can do it, it would be him. But at the same time, I'm not particularly convinced he could. There are things (many) that afx does better than anyone, but imo maelstrom style drum programming? Only SP can do that. And you don't think, being great friends that they are, that Afx and SP have spent a lot of time jamming together and have taught each other loads of little tricks ;) To me this release is either a joint venture between the pusher and the fex or it really is a new up and comer. Either way, who the music comes from really doesn't matter when you get said record. Would knowing the truth really change the music significantly for you? I know I'm still going to enjoy the music all the same regardless

  13. A sign that makes me think it ISN'T him in all the Afx recordings of live sets/shows i've been to.... I haven't heard any of the Steinvord tracks being played.......
  14. in Skillrex's wildest fantasies!
  15. great posts, thank you chaps :) so many things to try out!
  16. wishful thinking from WATMM as usual, I doubt it's Afx or a Squarepusher/Afx collab, someone that really likes Afx/Squarepusher yeah but I don't think it's either of them... regardless, I look forward to getting the release on vinyl/finally getting mitts on decent bitrate files
  17. lol I would say I prefer Noise's output over Monoliths so far (staying power wise), no need to be dissapointed it isn't Dave ;)
