  1. Yellowjackets (Showtime) Got a free trial of Showtime to start this. Watched ep 4 last night. Liking it so far but had higher expectations. Actually I don't know what I was expecting, I just knew it had Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci and that it was dark so that was enough to get me in. Imposters (Netflix) Had this in my queue for a while so I started this on nights I watch TV alone. Flawed, mainly because the lead character is a little flat, but I'm invested now. The Afterparty (Apple TV+) Another one I was hyped about due to the cast (minus Ike Barinholtz, gross), but it's not quite as good as I hoped. I don't mind the format, but the Ike/Brett episode was a bit annoying, and while I like the Yasper character his episode was fucking annoying with the musicals. I hate musicals even when they're meant to be funny, because they're not. They're annoying. The Last OG (HBO Max) Tracey Morgan and Tiffany Haddish (also in The Afterparty). Liking this one, no complaints really. Good laughs. Your Home Made Perfect (Hulu) "Reality" series wherein a couple looks to remodel their home and chooses from plans by two competing architects. The new season features new architects, which is a welcomed change from the same two architects in the first two seasons. Not only are there new architects, but they're different in each episode (though I imagine some may appear in more than one). Still slowly watching Cheers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Mythic Quest, and Black-ish on an off when I have just 20-30 mins for something I don't have to pay a ton of attention to.
  2. I was nonplussed by Answers Come in Dreams. Too dubsteppy. Though I wasn't into Opaque either. I might pick Impossible Star from the last 3. To be fair I've listened to these albums like once each.
  3. Hoping this brings some nice platform improvements. I don't need it to turn into a streaming platform or anything, but there are lots of improvements that could be made on the site and app.
  4. Just saw a Tom Dork in the new releases subform.
  5. In the past week we've wrapped up: Sharp Objects Search Party The Shrink Next Door Hard (Brazilian series on HBO, that I didn't realize until just now when looking on IMDB is a remake of a French series by the same name from last decade ?) We've been watching The Righteous Gemstones, which is great. This season is not disappointing. I also started the Amazon series Get Shorty, which isn't bad. I'm not sure I ever saw the movie. I'll probably kick off a free trial of Showtime in the next week, a few shows I'm interested in there such as Yellowjackets and Dexter: New Blood.
  6. Too many since last post, but two today from 2004: Lansing-Dreiden - The Incomplete Triangle Sixtoo - Chewing on Glass & Other Miracle Cures
  7. I'm late here but fuck, just skimmed through this and it sounds amazing. Come on Richard.
  8. Not sure I've commented on The Shrink Next Door yet. I was hyped for this but it's taking us forever to get through it, we've watched like one episode per week — it's a bit of a slog. With the first few I forgave the pacing and was hoping it would build up to something more engaging. If anything I felt more engaged in the earlier episodes, but it has sort of plateaued. Still have 3 to go and while I want to see it through, it feels more like an obligation at this point. As for other Apple TV+ content, I'm looking forward to The Afterparty next.
  9. I enjoyed Breaking Bad and I'm enjoying Ozark. I can see the similarities but still think it's a good show on its own. There's nothing original anymore so if it's gonna be similar to anything, might as well be Breaking Bad.
  10. Legendary Pink Dots - Any Day Now (1988) Finally bought another record after putting a hold on buying till I got more settled into my new house. Room painted, vinyl unboxed, ok then. Resume life.
  11. Sunken Foal - Friday Syndrome Vol. 2 (2013) I've played loads of albums since my last post, but revisiting this one now as I'm looking at my favorites from 2013 (this was a late entry with a December release date). So damn good, just super fun and interesting stuff. Please please let's have a volume 4 soon. We still have Fridays as far as I'm aware.
  12. I'm actually using an Apple TV too. I just find that because it's an aggregator, if it's not one of the most recent things I've watched across all my streaming apps, it's buried. And because I don't use Apple TV+ as an aggregator, and only go there when I'm trying to watch Apple TV+ content, it doesn't feel intuitive. The aggregated continue watching row makes sense, but if I scroll further down the page I feel there should be a section specifically for the Apple TV+ shows that I'm watching or have added to "Up Next", which I also find to be a stupid name for my list/queue. Maybe there's a way I can simply turn off the app's connection to content from the other apps. ?
  13. Oh never mind. Just had another listen, liked it more. Just needs to sink in, I was probably distracted the first time.
  14. Looking forward to this. Didn't care much for Love Canticles, but Dode was really good.
  15. Hmm, listened to this on Friday or Saturday and didn't find it very interesting. Will have to play again.
  16. I'm finding this a bit slow and missing something. After the first few episodes we kept forgetting we were watching it, so it's taken us basically 3 weeks to watch 4 episodes. I think part of that is it being on Apple TV+, which isn't one of our go-to apps. Apple has somehow made it difficult for you to get back to their own content in their app, which is fucking weird. Anyway I wish I liked it a little more as the cast is great.
  17. Tired of my goddamn AirPods dying on me overnight or mid-walk due to lack of proper low-battery signaling. They can be totally fine one day, sit overnight and be completely drained by morning when I'm walking the dog trying to listen to some tunes. Problem is, I learned a while back, that the pods and case drain each other when not in use. So if they're a little low, but the case is also low, the case will steal all the juice from the pods. Kind of fucked up, and they really need a better way to tell you they're low. I'm not trying to check the on-screen power levels every time I use them, and the light on the case doesn't have enough variations to really tell you what's going on. I'll occasionally hear a sound while using them, telling me they're dying, but it's usually too late to do anything about it as I'm on a walk. 5 minutes later one of them dies. Come on, Apple.
  18. It's called "mozzarella"
  19. Seventeen Seconds > Faith > Pornography > The Head on the Door = Disintegration The rest I can live without (having never heard any after Wish)
  20. I just listened to it yesterday for the first time. I was also more into metal, the more mainstream alternative, and getting into industrial, so wasn't really paying attention to The Cure. Though I guess they'd qualify as mainstream alternative at that point, "Friday I'm In Love" wasn't my vibe. Though it is a fine song of course, it wasn't going to make 16 year old me pick up the album.
