    Just watched a pretty heartbreaking documentary on Netflix (of all places) called Born in Gaza. It's from the Israeli attacks in 2014, documenting the lives of children in Gaza. Saw some horrific videos from the ambulance strikes today, and surprise surprise Israel was doing the same shit back then. Bozos claiming Hamas started this conflict on the 7th of October 2023 infuriate me to no end. Fuck. Oh yeah this was just going to be a little watchlist recommendation but I guess I got carried away. Sorry.

    It was showing at a local film festival, in hindsight I'll just go on record to call this a masterpiece. One of the best films I've seen.

    Israel cut all telecommunications and internet in Gaza, total blackout, and are now carpet bombing the north and launching relentless airstrikes on the south (where Palestinians were told to flee). Fuck this cruel world.

    Yeah, I saw some horrifying videos out of there. Israel are now blaming the bombing of the hospital on Hamas rockets, after first stating that the hospital was warned by the IDF before they bombed it. The Hamas rockets barely manage to punch holes in the buildings they hit, so this was obviously something else and far more powerful. This whole region is going to go up in flames soon, and I fear Biden will send in US troops to assist Israel in its bloodshed eventually. I'm fucking enraged and heartbroken over this situation, but I feel less alone in seeing through the propaganda this time. The public opinion seems to be shifting, so I guess there's a limit to how much heinous shit Israel can get away with, and this is looking very much like straight up genocide no matter how hard they try to spin it. Shit's grim and it's only going to get worse. Edit 102: Here's a sweet little tweet by the Israeli prime minister that strangely got deleted after getting ratioed to hell and back. Pretty telling on what the current mindset is.

    Neither honestly, the Paul Schrader one is the better film, but there's some low rent CGI and FX work put in to finish the film for no money that is just hot garbage. Renny Harlin's version is closer to the mummy than the exorcist, just tons of ineffective jump scares and dumb demon action. The TV series is ok though, strangely. Edit: ok the Renny Harlin stuff is hyperbole, because it sounds fun. It's not, they're both fatally boring films.

    Ahsoka is really really bad, haven't watched the final episode, but Jesus, it's just heeeere's glup shitto, that guy from that other thing going "hello I'm glup shitto, take this", cheap cosplay costumes with awful contact lenses, endless swinging lightsabers matches and wooden acting.

    Finishing up Copenhagen Cowboy (netflix), best thing by Nicolay Winding Refn in forever, pretty banging soundtrack as well, even if they rip off that opening tune from the shining. Gangsters, violence, unpleasant stuff, long neon drenched takes, some fairytale elements and night shots. This is tickling my balls in just the right places.
