  1. There is something annoying about that duplas guy, but I think he managed to use it to his advantage in creep, it was an ok watch.
  2. So many crap films have been released in the last few years. It's a wonder the cinemas haven't gone bankrupt. Why are people flocking to watch these films, are they ok? Have they been brainwashed or something? I'm a bit concerned.
  3. Been rewatching some old Klovn episodes, hilarious and outrageous as it is, it really made me crave for new Curb episodes, can't wait for the new Curb!

El oh el Larry, el oh el.
  5. My Scientology Movie Good docu. Casting actors for Cruise and in particular Miscavige was an interesting and effective angle to approach the subject. Also interesting to see a different side of Marty, strange that he would suddenly become so unhinged. You'd think he'd be used to it after 20 plus years of dealing with squirrel busters, hope they're not starting to get to him too much.
  6. Ah si, the old river, she giveth and she taketh away.
  7. Yes! Amen to kratom. I love the way it doesn't really make you high, just clears the mind and allows you to enjoy all the simple things in life, in a way one could before alcohol, weed etc. Plus more energy and productivity. Only downside is the tolerance the body quickly builds up for the stuff, requiring regular breaks in use.
  8. Holy Hell http://www.telegraph.co.uk/film/holy-hell/sundance-documentary-buddhafield-cult-reaction/ Excellent docu on the Buddhafield group whos "guru" was a hot pants wearing, ballet dancing ex pornstar/actor, a must see if you're interested in cults!
  9. some good'uns recently watched: Demolition I am not a serial killer The sea of trees Numb Shelley The interior
  10. lol, careful the heat doesn't get to your head. I'm sure there's ways to cool off without angering mother nature head for the cool pools of an onsen!
  11. I remember enjoying the hell out of the Crank, it's everything an action film should be and then some. Statham is perfect in it
  12. This track never ceases to amaze me As described once by someone describing Cfern (I think it was?) It's another case of having some kind of (surprisingly soothing) liquid metal gradually injected into your brain.
  13. It's sometimes pronounced qwarrestess, without a pronounced "ice" at the end.
  14. Quaristice was the album that got me into Autechre, and I don't think I've ever enjoyed it quite as much as that first drunken, enlightening listen thru. Still my least listened to Autechre album, though I do enjoy dipping into the quadranges now and then. This is an excellent video, hope this guy makes more like it with other Autechre tracks.
  15. This track has grown on me immensely. That feeling when every sound finds its place and is part of an umbrella pattern, when no segment ever outstays its welcome and each individual sound to takes on an addictive, luxurious feel. The structure of the whole thing reminds me a bit of the EP7 artwork, like some alien culture forming electrical strands in a huge petri dish under a dome made of tangy lemon sherbet. It's the lentic catachresis of elseq.

Maybe it's because I was more familiar with Autechre by the time they rolled out Exai, but I found it pretty straighforward, at least compared to stuff like Confield or Draft, which I could continue to mine for ages and still come upon stuff I was sure I'd not heard before. On Exai it didn't sound so much like they were pushing their own boundaries so much as using what they'd previously learned and just really having a blast with it. I loved it on the initial listen, but didn't get that feeling I got with Confield or Draft (and Untilted) on subsequent listens, on those albums it felt more like they were tweaking sounds and the melodies sort of just organically came from that process. I really like the bitesize EP format of the Elsex. Wasn't Exai also initially meant to be a series of EPs? Or was that just a thread someone made for fun about breaking it into EPs.

Man, listening to freulaeux on headphones whoa, like being slowly propelled through vast layers of soft cotton clouds, with faint shifts in hue behind my eyelids wavering to the rhythm. Reminded me how someone once described the feeling of opium, falling through soft clouds. Love this track!

Yeah Fantano, think I heard about him here on watmm, around the time he reviewed Exai I guess. Will be watching his exaggerated face forming opinions on Elseq too, it's just irresistible.

feeling some weird middle eastern vibes on elyc6, like being stuck in an opium den with someone doing some furious snake charming. Some of the most bonkers sounds they've done on this track
  23. Some standout films watched during the last few months: Tangerine Prince of Broadway Ape Buzzard Victoria Looking forward to Joel Potrykus' (Ape, Buzzard) latest film The Alchemist Cookbook.

  25. so, not a boring place to be this Florida. I was in Miami on a 4 hour overlay once back in 2009. The only time I've evter trodden good old yank soil. Exiting the air conditioned ariport, the sweltering, humid heat slapped my face like a truckers sweaty nutsack. I got on a bus going downtown. I accidentally put too much dollars into the little box and the bus driver drawled superiorly "You ain't gettin them coins back now ya know". Off the bus went out of the palm trees and concrete of the airport out along that long bridge by the bay. Beautiful stuff. I got off at a random spot after the bridge. Everything was squeaky clean the buildings were impressive, sun bouncing off pristine glass facades, huge boxy cars in white and orange. Palm trees lining the roads. Cosy, luxurious looking yellow and orange stucco houses nested in lush foliage. I went into a KFC and asked for a Zinger Tower Meal. The squat black woman behind the counter said "You wan' what?!" I said but we have them in England, she says "well we don' do dat in Miami". I went into a corner and ate my not Zinger Tower Meal, quietly mesmerised by the bright shiny street going on outside.
