it kills me that this is such low quality but it's still SO good.

hearing known1 for the first time was a real wtf moment, i had to double check that it was real when oversteps first leaked because it sounded so unlike anything they had done. I hated it for a while but now it's one of my favorites on the album. Similarly, I could tell Exai was a really great album but it took some time for me to really WANT to listen to it, now it's one of my most revisited.

yeah, this has some of my favorite mastering in an autechre album in a while. I went back to a few exai tracks and it doesn't sound nearly as "alive" and powerful as elseq, also this album is full of bright sounds and feelings

definitely. I was excited for an album of AE_live sounding stuff but this really exceeded all expectations. This stuff is advanced but still instantly enjoyable and memorable for me.

for what it's worth, this happened to me. At one time, especially at the height of the r+7 hype I thought opn was totally overrated and sounded just bad and cheesy in a way I couldn't get on board with. somewhere down the line I gave replica a chance again which I ended up really liking, so I revisited his stuff and it just started to click. I thought Commissions II was especially really good, I think opn and autechre share a lot of similar qualities, mainly the way that they'll sort of drop in a single section or sound that totally makes the rest of an otherwise patience-trying song worth listening to. anyway - I'm really excited for the new album. -
I don't think he's released any songs that are post 2001 yet, all of the songs that have threads of later releases and the genesis of certain ideas seem to indicate to me that he had been sitting on and developing these sorts of structures and melodies and ideas for a lot longer than I personally could have even imagined. it's really fucking cool!

DAMN!!! I'm not pre-ordering from Bleep again. I live in LOS FUCKING ANGELES and my package tracking says… "Expected Delivery Day: Thursday, September 25, 2014" That's what I get for pre-ordering the instant it goes live. If it doesn't come with crazy swag, I'm gonna raise hell. I feel you, I'm also in LA. Mine (ordered from bleep) also hasn't come yet, I went ahead and just bought another copy from Amoeba yesterday.
