  1. Yep, this is good stuff, always nice to see more FSOL. Hey mate, since I understand you’ve got ties with the band, I’ve been wondering about two things: 1. “Detonation” is the closest we’ll ever get to an official release of the We Have Explosive (2" Tape Reels Version) eh? Albeit similar, I don’t think they are completely the same, I mean I can’t recall those guitar parts being on that version uploaded on their Myspace, ages ago. 2. Has anyone in the camp ever considered / brought up the fact that there might be a chance that people who don't identify as hardcore FSOL fans, might be left with the impression that they haven't really released any new album since Dead Cities? I personally love the fact they have opened the vaults with all these archival/By any Other Name releases, I know the "Environments" series has been new material for a while and I hope they keep putting out stuff non-stop, nonetheless. But if a WATMMer who loves their stuff and whose all-time favourite album is “Dead Cities” is sometimes left confused and would still love to see a modern FSOL album, marketed, titled as well as musically and stylistically presented as a completely new, strictly individual entity on its own (in the same sense “Accelerator” and “Lifeforms” were completely different things), perhaps a more “casual” electronica guy who might be left with the impression they haven’t released anything new since 1996, might take notice and appreciate it more? Just an idea, in the nicest way possible. …But then again, I might be wrong, and I suppose Brian and Garry couldn’t care less about what might seem (is?) as marketing stuff… *Resumes rocking to Tingler*
  2. Thanks for your reply, I only saw it after I returned back home, but I appreciate it anyways. Had a good time, wasn't able to find any place spinning stuff for WATMM tourists (Rone was supposed to play on Razzmatazz, but he had to cancel for very unfortunate reasons), but did all the classic Gaudi stuff, tested my resistance against Covid @ the Gràcia festival, managed to catch the Banksy exhibition, caught some rays and swam on Bogatell Beach (less overcrowded and overall better than Barceloneta imo) and since I don't really like seafood, I've had what could very well be the best steak of my life, on an Argentinian (Buenos Aires Grill Restaurant) on Eixample (which was also the area I liked the most). ?
  3. Refraining from opening a new thread, any tips on things, nice/quirky places, food, gigs (which is unlikely in Mid-August), parties etc. a WATMMer shouldn't miss in 2022? (next week actually). ?
  4. That bad? Seeing you live in France you should definitely know better than me, so I definitely hope you are being sarcastic or it's a "grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" case.? I remember while in Berlin and since I wasn't exactly delighted with the idea of queuing up in Berghain to catch whatever boring techno was considered hip in 2018 (I like my techno Detroit/Jeff Mills or Beltram-flavoured but that's prolly my fault, living in the past...), asking for places spinning break-oriented stuff. People were like "Um...you should have probably gone to London instead..." (granted, this remark was mainly because of the music request rather the city in general). The next year, while in London and while had a blast catching Ceephax and Altern-8 @ "I Love Acid" the previous night, the "alternative rock" side of me was also seeking for a place spinning that kind of stuff. To my surprise, asking people in Shoreditch and Hackney resulted in people staring at me like they had no idea what I am talking about, which was quite weird, I mean it's London we are talking about. Then again, that's also probably due the fact it's not the 90's anymore... Then some nice lad at the Jack the Ripper pub blatantly said: "Quality music in London?!! This city is now dead to the bone, just get to a plane and go to Berlin mate!", which according to additional remarks he made, it wasn't about the music only... But, british weather aside of course, I fucking loved London so I was happy to argue with him... But, I digress...
  5. I'll be in Paris next week for holidays (10-16) so I am gonna follow the forum tradition and ask whether there are any things (at this time around or in general) which a WATMMer shouldn't miss. I guess asking for scheduled shows (or even parties / underground clubs playing lush tunes) during a Pandemic is pretty pointless, since even the few things which would be scheduled in mid-August, are most likely not happening, but if anyone has any suggestions about quirky / original / special in some way things to do and/or places / events / attractions I should probably check, apart from the typical touristy stuff, I'd be glad to know. Thanks!
  6. Always nice to see new FSOL stuff surfacing, no matter if it's archival material or not. Btw, has that frantic, cut-up "We have explosive" version been released yet? I am talking about the one opening " Electric Brain Storms Vol.1" as a snippet, entitled "We Have Explosive (2" Tape Reels Version)". I do have a full length low quality mp3 rip ripped from when they had uploaded it in their Myspace aaages ago and I'd love to have it in good quality. I also think it has been requested by other members around here (such as mcbpete) years ago so if it's STILL not released and you are in the position of letting the powers that be know there's interest about it, it'd be nice!
  7. Great stuff. Scratching a certain "What do you mean you will never release a drill 'n bass album ever again, Richard?" itch... "Oberlove" melody is gorgeous and tracks like "Speedcrank", "Terminal Slam" and "Mekrev Bass" blow the likes of Ruby My Dear, Steinvord, Heorge Garrison (provided Tom isn't involved with the last two himself of course...) out of the water. I mean, nothing but respect for those artists, especially for Ruby My Dear, but the mind bending editing in those tracks definitely got a "The King is back" vibe...!
  8. Had a blast. Oval @ Cafe Oto was fun while I think it was such a great chance to catch what was essentially a rave while in England, managed to check "Sweet Harmony" during the same day too. Both Altern-8 and Ceephax rocked the house, Pickle Factory has a pretty good sound system too . Checked most of the essential record shops (Sounds of the Universe, Phonica, Rough Trade and Sister Ray), strangely it was Sister Ray I liked the most, got me FSOL's "My Kingdom" 12''. Thanks everyone for the recommendations, thank you London!
  9. In return, here's something currently happening in London that could definitely be interesting for the WATMMer... https://sweetharmony.saatchigallery.com/ Should be fun, no?
  10. No problem with plugging, I am leaving London on 18th though. ? Thanks for the suggestions!
  11. Whereas I kinda like Kubrick so that exhibition belongs into the "hmm would be cool" zone, I fucking love David Lynch, I am a hardcore fan. But time and money is def an issue... :/
  12. Yes, this is considered. There's also the manga exhibition in the British Museum... obviously I need to keep my resources in check after some point though, since it's London we are talking about, so we'll see. Thanks for your input! :) Ohh that's fucking awesome! Ceephax and Altern 8! This one looks like a no brainer really! I am staying till Sunday so this looks like the proper summer rave send off I was hoping for! What's Altern 8 (Mark Archer solo by now I think?) into these days, I think he went into nu breaks mode at some point. Thanks a lot for letting me know, I could have sworn I've checked RA, I didn't manage to catch that one! I've just being told that this is a nice venue too! Do you think I should book in advance (like....around now?) cause it might sold out or the capacity of the place would make me look like the a complete tourist (I probably am)? ? Yeah, Cafe Oto looks like a nice place, I've heard about it, probably from this very thread. I am not familiar with those acts (I will check though) but I saw Oval is playing on August 15th and I am pretty sure this is something I don't wanna miss either! Cheers!
  13. So, I am gonna be the one who bumps this one for Summer 2019. I'll be in London next week (staying @ Spitafields). Any recommendations for things going on right now / in general? *Bars / Clubs playing IDM or maybe outdoor raves? (I'm several months late for Bangface, one month early for Aphex... Doh!) No Fabric 4/4 techno/electro please. *Any surreal/oddities shops/shows/attractions? (I am really tempted to go to the David Lynch exhibition in Manchester but I'm not sure there's enough time to go to another city + UK trains are expensive as hell). *Decent quality / price ratio cocktails? *Nice places to go to in general apart from the typical touristic stuff?
  14. Thanks for the reply. Yeah as I've said, I really wanna try it out and I believe It can actually help. The only problem is (and I am sure you'll understand if you recall how it used to be when you first started) that many things that may make sense and come natural at some point such as "Feel your body", "Focusing on your breath" and others in this thread come across as pretty abstract and generic for someone who's only starting, you know? I think they can only make sense and actually BEING PRACTICED (which is the point) in the context of some video course or a nice book with instructions and/or maybe body position diagrams etc. which would accompany the whole theoretical part and that's the main reason I started this thread. I just can't start practicing without a concrete methodology sticking into a generic "sit in the lotus position in your bed and clean your head and feel your body energy" etc (even if a large part of the whole process is actually this).
  15. Thanks. I am gonna look it up. Thanks. I am gonna check it some more but from the first look that seems to be almost exclusively theory only? I mean... All I could see was analyzing about the mind and comparisons to physical stuff like surgeries and how meditation is good etc but not something concrete about how to get there and exercises / directions (apart a sentence length one about the classic example of focusing into an object). I'm not putting your suggestion down by any means and thanks again for the contribution, I am just pointing it out how I hope there is actually something more into it than something totally abstract and theoretical. And as for the "gurus" and new age they only drive people away as I said. I also... erm found some video series / dvds but as YO303 says it's hard to tell the useful ones from the bogus / time-waster ones, at least for the beginner.
  16. Oh but i do! Yeah, that's the thing that's why I ask for help from people who have been successfully practicing it. I wanna reach for the genuine stuff above the bogus. That means that anything asking for my paypal or trying to shove religious entities and figures down my throat will only drive me away from the whole thing.
  17. For a long time I've been resisting to actually pay attention to anything (transcendental) meditation related even though there has been that growing fad of people I respect like David Lynch saying how great it is and how it can change your life. I've been really skeptical with the subject for two simple reasons: *Doubts whether it can actually work or being another result of the placebo effect or at worse a scam people invented to get as much money as possible from other people. *The connection with any religions and/or cults etc. which have no purpose or meaning in my life. Yet I've read (in this forum too) about some very positive experiences from people who seemed pretty decent, honest and unbiased i.e neither religiously brainwashed or scammers and I've decided to approach the whole thing with good faith and try it to give it a go. I think it was in this forum where someone encouraged someone else to "put all the religious crap aside and meditation can really do wonders for you if you try". I never truly reject anything before I experience it myself anyway. So I'd like some help from people who have been practicing it and actually being benefited from it. My questions are: 1. The reason I decided to give meditation a try is because I've heard you can be greatly benefited if you got stress, panic attack, insomnia, concentration, low attention span, depression issues and even boost your creativity/productivity. Is that true? Could I be benefited from it? 2. Most importantly, where do I start? I'd really appreciate if someone could recommend me a decent site I could check and follow directions. Or even a video series / dvd I could watch. Who knows, maybe I discover I have been really missing something great. Thanks!
  18. Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger and good old Faxanadu.
