  1. This may be a top 5 all time favourite song for me. I used to cover it at open mics on acoustic guitar, and a couple years ago I did an electronic reworking of it, complete with stacked vocal harmonies. Recently I made a video for it that I'm pretty happy with. Making the infomercial people lip sync the vocals was especially amusing.
  2. Normie Rockwell Bill Crosby Bill Crosby Stills and Nash
  3. Made another music video, this time for a Mr Bungle - Retrovertigo cover:
  4. Thanks! My most listened to artist in 2023 was Skinny Puppy, so I wouldn't say no to jacking up the snare another few notches. But I probably won't go back to it. Thanks! Haha yeah, a decade of smoking would have made the tone a bit more convincing. I'll get on that for my next Nirvana cover in 2033. Nevermind was one of the first albums I ever got into, so every vocal nuance is imprinted on my brain. It's not the vocal style I normally do, and it's difficult maintaining that vocal grit in the key I chose to do the song in. Would have probably been a bit easier if I had kept it in the original key, as that would be closer to a natural screaming pitch.
  5. Thanks! That's me singing. I don't think I sound anything like Kurt - his voice is unmatchable. But I'm flattered you think it's that similar.
  6. I recorded a cover version of Nirvana - Breed and made a video comprised of ridiculous old b-movie monster footage. Song download in case anyone wants it: https://themunicipality.bandcamp.com/track/breed-nirvana-cover

  8. Listening to Front Line Assembly in my headphones, and my GF asked if I was listening to Blue Man Group.
  9. Baby Deftones! Wow, they sound like Incubus. I guess both started in California around that time, so they probably were influencing each other a fair bit.
  10. Happy Boss's Day! (I just became aware of this through my gf's calendar. Do people actually celebrate this in the American work place? Def a SFWP if so.)
  11. Two disturbing quotes from my 5 year old nephew tonight: "I love violence!" And... "You'll never be a kid again!"
  12. First two tracks are melting my face off. Sound design on this mofo is off the charts.
  13. lol so I'm forever stuck at 0 attachment space remaining. seems like a pretty major design flaw. and doesn't that eat up a crazy amount of server space? I have no idea how anything website related actually works, but I feel like several thousands of gigs worth of images/audio between every watmm member since the site's inception has to have some sort of negative impact. the vsnares thread is sorely missing these hairless cat photos...
  14. hmmmm.... I'm not seeing any delete option there either. Just "share" or "report".
  15. thank you! I think the last time I attempted this was over 10 years ago.
  16. Can't for the life of me figure out how to delete attachments. There is no delete option within "my attachments", literally the only logical place for this feature to be.
  17. I posted here back in the day. Had the honour of working with some samples he put together for me as part of a chain-letter music compilation release. Had 24 hours to take those and make a new track with it. Only got the part because another artist dropped out last minute, and it was a track-per-day schedule. Anyway, comp was released, so I mentioned it on the board, and he coasted in saying how much he liked it. Definitely worth staying up until 7am to complete it. Rossz was my introduction to Snares because it was displayed at a record store in the listening section. Had no idea what to expect, and it was unlike anything else I'd heard at the time. Obviously there are some similarities in the drum programming still to Aphex/SP's old drill 'n' bass stuff, but coming at it from a whole other angle.
  18. Had my first couple listens yesterday. Been listening to TROG and POV earlier in the week to whet my appetite. The beats are a lot less busy on this one, which allows more room for the VHS collage to shine through. Each track has more of its own identity because of that. Like if I think of the other albums, it all kind of blurs together into one thing. These tracks are easier to conjure to memory as individual pieces. I think that's the album's strength. There's not a lot of clutter beyond what's needed. I love the maximalist chaos of the first two albums as well - creates that sensory overload thing you get with ads, channel surfing, movies, etc. But this is a cool counterpoint to that. Also, some really excellent synth bass lines. I feel like there's more of his own compositional additions this time around, rather than relying as much on the sound collage aspect.... and there's still plenty of that. It's great. I like it as much as anything else he's done. As much as I love the other two albums, I would have been disappointed if it were just more of the same. It's still very much a part of that universe, but restructured just enough to keep things interesting. I'm listening in headphones right now for the first time, and the mix is really fucking nice. As a producer this is quite inspiring to listen to. Considering how much is going on, it's astounding how perfectly everything sits in its own place. This sets the bar really high.
  19. Autechre released Sign, followed by Plus one month later. Sign plus... Sn pls... Sean please? ?
