  1. Doesn't John Twells (Xela) write the Boomkat blurbs? I've got no problem buying from Boomkat because I think they're a good store and carry a bunch of stuff I like, but it does seem like maybe John is working through some of their own issues about being an "IDM LABEL OWNER" in that era.
  2. An interesting wrinkle when discussing any perceived decline in Brooks' material is that a decent chunk of his solo works over the last decade have been partly comprised of library music that he's done over the years. So, you have something like Shapwick on Clay Pipe that plays out as a great album, but is actually a mix of material from a large span of time.
  3. I received all 8 in the mail yesterday, and so far, so fantastic. I listened to The Wheel, The Anal Staircase, and The Snow discs. The sound quality is excellent-- it's so nice to have CD-quality versions of tracks I've only ever had on vinyl-- and the bonus material is almost overwhelming in its scope and quality. The Horse Rotorvator demos alone would have been worth the $80 to me, but there is just so much to process. Coil is probably the most important thing to me when it comes to music, if I really am honest with myself. I have been a collector since 1994, and have maybe 99% of the official releases, and believe me, these CDs are important and worth it.
  4. Anyone know what's going on with The Advisory Circle? The 6th episode of the Cafe Kaput podcast never showed up, and it looks like today he's deleted the blog and his twitter?
  5. I've heard from Jim Jupp that Ghost Box plans on doing represses and revised editions of some of the earlier catalog numbers over the next year. He didn't say which ones, but I'm assuming it'll be CD-R releases, which will be nice to have. Also, WOW this week's Cafe Kaput had some brilliant stuff on it. That version of "Stardust" at the end, that sounded like echoes from another universe...
  6. The Cafe Kaput podcasts are really great. Lots of weird stuff in them that's had me scouring the net for info on the artists.
  7. I'm currently listening to the download. I still haven't gotten the record in the mail yet. Has anyone gotten it who lives in the US?
