  1. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000pm12 Merlin Sheldrake reads an abridged version of his Fungi focused book "Entangled Life" Really really interesting
  2. If this is billed as POP and kids use it as a gateway to other sounds, then that's cool by me. I dig some of the production here, that Zora Jones track is listenable Without dubstep we wouldn't have Shackleton / Pearson Sound / Pinch / etc etc, so these new sub-genres need to come and go
  3. My home made noise spring devices are mono so i'm all good! But yeah, could buy two of the bad boys.... or chain a flanger after it and use sparingly
  4. The Earthquaker Devices Afterneath v3 has finally hit UK shores and it flirts with my GAS very heavily. Billed as an "otherworldly reverberation machine" this new version has a 9-mode toggle switch for selecting different reverb trail algorithms. I also like the external voltage control they added. Whether this means I will be able to pick up a v1 or v2 cheaper on Reverb I dunno yet, I reckon they will hold their value pretty well but some existing owners may want to upgrade. Looks lush imo.
  5. At midday on 12/12/20, If six willing subjects stand and hold hands around the monolith to form a hexagon, something will happen.
  6. Golden set, their mixing skills are totally on point as you would expect
  7. Well, you can count on watmm to lift the spirits
  8. I agree on the LORN comparison. Has that huge cinematic sound about it, but still understated and reigned in. Somehow.
  9. .... aaaaand it just dropped on my desk at work. ?
  10. The Astra Zeneca / Oxford vaccine can be stored in a normal fridge and is 70% effective from one does (which is still better than the normal flu jab) and over 90% after 1.5 doses. Game changer for rolling out across the world for developing countries - apparently it is already being manufactured in 10 places across the globe. Science! Amazing.
  11. So I was thinking / daydreaming about going to my first gig when they open up again properly.... I could see myself standing front row in a dark nightclub, sweating and swaying to some phat techno beats from a DJ, and i'm crying tears of joy because the bass is so good and I haven't felt this free for what seems like ever. I'm hugging my mate next to me, I've got a cold beer in hand and the strobe kicks in and I grin ear to ear and lose the plot. In reality, it probably won't be anything like that, but I hope to get to some small DIY shows in the spring. There are a few decent venues in Oxford that I hope can open up with some live music. Even if seated / distanced. I really don't know how they are going to roll out nightclub openings again. After mass vaccinations are in place I guess. Whatever happens, I cannot wait. Live music is a part of what keeps my brain ticking and not experiencing it with other people has really got me down this year.
  12. Luke Abbott is from the Border Community school, alongside James Holden and Nathan Fake. Leftfield electronica, weird Norfolk vibes. Lovely stuff indeed!
  13. Well I checked my order confirmation email and the small print at the bottom says "For updates about your order visit Your Account, where you can see its status and download an invoice." And I can see/download and invoice but not see any order status details...? Anyway, I'm not angry (yet), it's just bizarre how the rest of Europe seems to have got their copies on or before release day.
  14. Bit disappointed I've not received this let alone a despatch notification. My local record store are showing it in stock and I could click and collect for when they open in an hour's time
  15. I listened to the new Cabaret Voltaire album last night and I quite enjoyed it! Although its a Richard H Kirk solo project now, first Cabs album in 24 years surely counts....
  16. So looks like the mainland European orders are shipped but not UK... is this a sign of Brexit delays to come ?
  17. Wowzers, can only echo what @Extralife already said, lovely design and top lineup!

  22. After having tried beat mixing aphex tunes on vinyl, I am happy to admit that a digital mix is quite satisfactory on this occasion ? Same goes for the autechre mix (which I am listening to now) - the style of music lends itself to digital blending due to the tracks constantly evolving. You need to reign them in somehow! Vinyl mixing of autechre is fine if you know the tracks inside out and are confident when you can get the transitions to work out... but it is hard going
  23. First episode was quite good tho Think I stopped end of 2nd series but I might pick it up again someday
  24. Now im gonna have to watch this movie!
