  1. I tried to suppress any kind of hype I could feel regarding a potential repress but I'm disappointed regardless.
  2. On the topic of sound design / overall mixing and mastering : to my ears, BUaH and Dostrotime don't sound thin, but they are not heavy at the right places. They sound frenetic but not massive. This is also a feeling I have with older Squarepusher stuff, most notably Big Loada which I like but imo sounds a bit messy. This is especially true with his most break-heavy material. I guess these choices also help making his albums more unique. JAS has a very specific sound and I can't think of similar albums!
  3. I disagree. This celebration is incomplete, as Warp did not post a boring link to stream the album on Spotify yet !
  4. After a first listen I have a feeling that this might be his best album, and will probably become my favourite. It has an overwhelming energy. Enbounce is a grown-up Paris track and currently stands out for me !! He totally dostrotimed the shit out of Evan Christ for sure
  5. I personally really enjoyed the album, very solid songwriting imho. It's the first time I listen to a MGMT album in its entirety, I never payed much attention to them before. Definitely heavy OPN landmark on some of the songs, I guess they made good use of his Juno and whatever. Production on the track with Christine and the Queens is very reminiscent of some tracks on Again (Locrian Midwest maybe with those low piano notes?)
  6. I finally have some spare time, decided to pick Zelda Tears of the Kingdom where I left it in July, then bought the Etrian Odyssey trilogy without thinking, then had regrets spending money on games I probably won't have time to play and finally put more hours in the Binding of Isaac
  7. This is honestly such a great idea and a good incentive for people to renew their subscription imo. Another way would be to show how many years in a row people subscribed or something like that. It is impressive how it keeps people engaged with streamers for example.
  8. I really love the packaging, they really went full 90s-beige plastic on this one ! Always been fond of OPN aesthetic, I revisited the Kaoss Edge fanpage the other day and it still is amazing imo.
  9. Well we had SIGN in 2020 that was kind of amber-ish
  10. Yes this track is awesome, the hardest part now is trying not to overplay it before album's release haha. I also think it just sounds better than most of his output the past few years? More punchy than be up a hello (which I genuinely loved)
  11. It also looks more robust, less fragile than the OP-Z (I am still holding a grudge against TE for the poor build quality of OPZ). Seqtrack got me hyped (as most grooveboxes do if I'm being honest), I really like the all-out design they chose.
  12. Managed to do the first two weeks with some sketchy tracks. No inspiration at all for this week, I hope that the portability of the tracker mini will help me writing one or two patterns tonight while being half asleep on my couch lol. Edit : I think the community is really helping and supportive which helps at lot feeling commited to the whole thing imho
  13. Got Pam's Pro Workout + Steady State Gate. The former is even more powerful and fun to use than I expected, and the latter just sounds amazing (it's basically a low pass gate with wavefolding + saturation capacities, i.e., one module to cover three functions that I was looking for in Eurorack). Next steps will be another VCA (probably Persephone for that "no-click" thru zero function, it would be a nice addition given my usual music style), a logic module (thinking of Befaco Rampage rather than Maths for this), and vpme.de QD to fulfill all of my drums-related needs. I am already having a ton of fun, but I definitely can see why people have such a hard time trying to limit their expenses on Eurorack modules lol
  14. Listening to the album after a longer hiatus. Strong tracks sound even stronger, and weak tracks even weaker. The Body Trail amazes me everytime. Again nevertheless seems to have fallen in WATMM's oblivion, might be OPN least discussed album on the board (nobody even linked the Nightmare Paint music video ?)
  15. Nice! Could not take part in the 2022 edition (not even sure it ever existed?) but I was hoping they would come back in 2024. In 2020 I was surprised how it helped me taking time to make music, despite a heavy workload at that time... Well 4 years later work is even harder for me but I will give it a shot. Will also gladly take part in a WATMM motivational group haha.
  16. Omg this image kept appearing in my FB feed yesterday, I definitely did not expected to see it here as well haha
  17. Yes!! This one was awful to beat. When I played it I really did not expect Tunic to give me souls-like boss battles haha
  18. Being a strong woman ending a relationship with an arsehole isn't being woke FFS. Anyway I am playing Risk of Rain Return. Forgot how hard it was (or, how bad I was at this game). I am however having a hard time going through the game, because I think it is quite woke (mostly because some characters are actually women ???? With crossbows ???? also : rainbow colored monsters.....give me my 15$ back Nintendo pls)
  19. It is somewhere in my list of instruments that trigger the most GAS for me, although I am pretty sure I would end up not using it that much. Curious to know the pricing of this reissue!
  20. Keys to the gate is amazing imho, especially the first track. Did not find the time yet to dive deeper in the other two albums from the recent trilogy. I love the way they create combinations within their own band members to offer different styles in their output!
  21. Yeah no matter how hard they try, Rockstar will never top WATMM's server migration
  22. As always I am flabbergasted by the amount of new music people here explore each year. I guess I'm mostly focused on older stuff... Anyway my 2023 music charts go something like this : Ae Live 22 (of course) KNOWER - KNOWER FOREVER (awesome album) OPN - Again Gorillaz - Cracker Island (might be their best since Plastic Beach) Actress - LXXXVIII Honorable mentions : Blur - The Ballad of Darren (very solid album, couldn't find the willpower to go back at it after they cancelled the show I was supposed to go to) Aphex Twin - Blackbox Recorder (incredible tracks, the best thing was probably the WATMM hype surrounding it anyway haha) Death Dynamic Shroud - Keys to the Gate
  23. Just finished 13 Sentinels : Aegis Rim on Switch. A mix between visual-novel and strategy-RPG where you follow a very rich sci-fi story (sometimes too rich actually, because it is very fragmented across the 13 protagonists' storylines), and have to fight battles in between chapters. Definitely not your typical teenagers-who-fight-in-mechas anime, I highly recommend it ! The story itself is probably one of the best sci-fi scenarios I experienced.
