  1. heh yeah i think he superimposed himself in the question of why still remains and is a heavy question
  2. fwp-looking at this thread instead of doing something with my life
  3. i wonder if pooping will ever become a thing of the past
  4. worst whiskey i've ever had was j.t.s. brown which i bought to try to be cool like Fast Eddie Felson. i ended up being the opposite of cool. it's cheap. i got the bottled in bond vers which is 100proof and i think a buck more than regular which is 80proof. maybe the 80proof doesn't taste AS horrid but i actually couldnt finish that bottle and had to give it away to a guy who actually drank it and claimed to like it. best cheap stuff i've ever had was black velvet, which to me seemed at least on par with JD black label.
  5. that seems to be a depressing way to end a kind of depressing post. but i totally relate to it which is maybe why i take it that way.
  6. that was my entire point, that 'having the right to lie to someone' whether you meant legally or whatever you meant, does not make it moral! if you didn't mean 'legal right', and you did mean 'moral right', then what you are saying would have to be that lying is moral. at what month would lying cease to be moral? why do you think something would be 'hard to process emotionally'? it's like in the same sentence you are admitting that something is kinda fucked up but then suggest that it's no biggie. i can agree that she doesn't owe the guy her mortal soul, and that 2 months isn't the same as 2yrs, but like i said earlier, *IF* (and we don't know) certain things were said between them or certain understandings met, it could still be a 'lie' for her to deny/fail to mention having seen anyone else (if she had), and wrong of her to do it in the first place without being up-front about it, and with the idea of putting him on the backburner as a fall-back and just ignoring him, screening his calls, until seeing if it works out with this other (hypothetical) guy. it could be entirely relevant. if their relationship IS pretty casual and no promises of exclusivity were made then i would agree with you- on everything except the general sentiment i'm picking up that lying is ok as long as it suits your own personal interests and as long as you make sure the other person never finds out, because they might not be able to process it well. and i do agree that to some extent you have to be 'cool' and not get all crybaby about stuff with 'girls', but i think it's also kind of funny that you suggest that if a guy doesn't appreciate being fucked around on or just totally ignored for weeks at her convenience, a girl will look for someone she can treat like that with no questions asked at all, to have a 'stable' relationship. at what month should he (or would it still be cool for him to) begin caring which bed she's in? but dude, why give a shit what i say anyway? i'm just one of those 'stupid fucking americans'.
  7. man i haven't ate a carrot in forever. i used to love them. aw i wish i had some carrots...
  8. *somehow* i knew you would actually say that 'she has a right to lie'. in most cases it isn't against the law so i guess you could take it to mean you have 'the right' to do it. so depending on how you define 'right' i could actually agree with you, but that's not the point here and it's just a shitty way to look at it. the fact that you would even say that, to me, does indicate that in some small way you are trying to rationalize it. instead of saying 'lying to someone who trusts you is wrong' you choose to say 'they have a right to lie to you' which just absolutely and entirely is not the point. you basically told him to be happy with getting her back even if she is lying to him/hiding things, just don't ask about it because what he doesn't know won't hurt him (until it does). excuse me for thinking that's a bit telling. i also think so many people having that type of mentality is why so many other people in the world are suffering emotionally, but whatever. you didn't overreact at all, at least not in what you said here. why shouldn't it upset you? i pretty much absolutely agree with everything else you said. she shouldn't stay with you if she isn't happy with it, but she should also tell you about that decision. on the other hand maybe there could be some other reason she hasn't talked to you, but i'd think it would have to be a really good one at this point. as for your part, i don't think it would be a good idea to take her back no questions asked and give her a free pass and just 'be happy to have her back', because i think it'd be an indicator to her that she could do whatever and get by with it, but it's your call to make. life's rough sometimes, hang in there.
  9. Most likely she was seeing someone else during that period. I hate to break it to you. Although, with the short period of time you have been dating she still kind of has every right to. In my opinion, don't ask because you don't want to hear the answer and it's likely she'll be inclined to lie to you, which will only hurt you more when you find out the truth. I think you should just be happy that things are back the way you want them, because if you make a fuss of it you might scare her off. i think it's debatable that someone has 'every right' to just start seeing someone else after 2 months into a relationship, and just shut off contact with the first person, put them on hold, and then out of nowhere resume communication with that person without offering any explanation or excuse. it really would have to be judged on a case-by-case basis with the nature of the relationship and the kind of words that had been spoken being taken into consideration. but then you go on to suggest that she would lie if asked directly about it which definitely goes beyond the question of 'rights' (but the context suggests that you also think lying would be her 'right', which is a bit revealing). a relationship is supposed to be built on trust, not betrayal of trust and lies. I'm not going to directly give Aserinsky any advice or suggestions about this issue, but to me that kind of behavior would raise some serious-assed red flags. just a hypothetical thought experiment- how would a woman take it if, say, she found out that the guy she had been dating for 2 months and was starting to get serious about, was sleeping with other women? and that's purely hypothetical because we don't know what the woman in question was doing during this time, but 'all this month' seems to be at least two weeks. actually ignoring phone calls for that kind of period is an indicator that something was going on, and the lack of explanation indicates it's something she knows he wouldn't be too happy about. i would bail on that as an act of self-preservation and to maintain some kind of dignity, but that's not advice nor suggestion, just me.
  10. i think the steinvord actually sounds listenable at the slower speeds. i never really cared TOO much for it before, but slowed down you can hear all the cool stuff happening.
  11. yo303 that sounds like a stinky situation. you prob deserve it.
  12. that album cover really would be perfect for a crappy vsnares album.
  13. this reminds me of how i want a reel to reel that has fully variable speed control via a knob and CV input. i don't know if that's even possible though. to modify one do that.
  14. oh shit. i drank some weird liquor and forgot to eat today and i feel squiggly funny how that works out. you hope it takes your problems away.. but NO

I'd also recommend the Dunwich Horror and Mountains of Madness and also The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, Colour Out of Space, The Whisperer in the Darkness, The Shadow over Innsmouth and Shadow Out of Time for more cosmic horror. I've only read At the Mountains of Madness and The Case of Charles Dexter Ward so far, and I preferred Dexter Ward by a mile. For my taste, Mountains read too much like a Jules Verne story where there's tons and tons of focus on describing mundane details down to a microscopic level, trying to be 'scientifically accurate'. Which, serves a purpose, but it just doesn't ring my bell and felt like a chore to read. And the things that are being described just get super repetitive.. Dexter Ward was awesome though because of the actual story in it. just my 2 cents
  18. my guess is brian and/or karen tregaskin. or maybe their cousin Ellroy.

Dashiell Hammett - Crime Stories & Other Writings At first I didn't like these stories compared to the Raymond Chandler detective novels I've read, because they are more straight-forward and don't have as much of the dependence on shady characters, gritty scene descriptions and all those things that became central to noir. Eventually the more realistic and matter-of-fact style grew on me and now it's my current favorite book.
  20. I know rite that cut went so deep, i think it pierced my soul smug pseudo-intellectual hipster btards attacking my existence at its core always stings 'neckbeards' have feelings too dammit! first world problems up in the here
  21. lots of miles davis. Ascenseur pour l'échafaud, Cookin', Steamin', and of course Kind of Blue. nothing really needs to be said here. catching up on squarepusher stuff i didn't have before, like the square window ep. venus 17 is pretty tops, maybe in my top 5 favorite SP. i never used to care for the rolling stones, but i'm really getting into their Tattoo You album. i feel like every track on it is at least good, but most are great. i love jagger's sort of sarcastic attitude in 'Tops', and I also dig the generally pretty psychedelic 'Heaven'. one weird thing i've listened to a bit lately is an 'album' that came from an old (1970) reel to reel tape that came with a deck i bought a while back. it's something a young woman named sally went into a studio in washington state and recorded, apparently her and an acoustic guitar. the production is actually pretty good and she's fairly talented. it's really strange because it's like this forgotten memento that i just lucked across. at least a few of the songs are at least partial rewrites of classics like 'runaway' and 'these boots are made for walkin'. maybe they are all sort of nicked from various sources but those are the only two i can place for sure (the last two tracks). i ripped it and put it up at my site in mp3 form here: http://www.cupwise.com/cup/7-tunes/ it might be one of the coolest things i've ever stumbled across in some ways.
  22. lots of great stuff in this thread i had never heard of. my only knowledge of this stuff is with the 3 herbie hancock albums i have (headhunters, thrust, and man-child), which are all excellent. i only recently found out about this track, which is really neither funk, or jazz, but is almost kinda related, being a Funkadelic track, and i've been playing the shit out of it for a few months now.
